Ministry of Pain

Trying to gauage how many folks actually play in best ball leagues. Thinking about several off season threads involving best ball but I want to find out how many folks even play in one if at all.

If you don't play in a best ball league please share why if you don't mind. If you do not currently but are open to trying one please post that as well.

Thanks,

MOP

No but I would like to.I think a BB auction league would be great.
This is exactly the type of league I play in with other FBGs in the Balt./DC area. Redraft league with our auction held in July or early Aug. each year. Highly recommend this type of league, lots of fun.

Yep. Posted before on this, but the biggest reason it's a lot more fun is that there is no whining about the results and "I shoulda started player A instead of player B" arguments. Its your best team versus your opponents best team. Also don't have to sweat the game time decisions.

I'm in this league also. It's a nice change of pace and I enjoy it, but I don't see it becoming the norm. I play in a lot more "normal" leagues.

What is a best ball league?
No problem explaining it for you and the viewers at home too. Basically if you have 3 QBs on your roster and you start 1 QB, all 3 are eligible and whoever scores the most goes into your starting line up that week. It's like that for the entire roster. I love it as you don't become a victim to coaches who play games with the IR during the season. Some folks hate it because you end up with guys that would never get started who have that once in a blue moon 20 point game...but that is overcome by making sure you have playoff spots at the 5 or 6 seed that are won by total points scored. I definitely see a need and want to focus on it more this year. I have been competing in them for a few years now and love them. In redraft it really plays out well for those that draft derep and find gold in the later rounds. In dynasty you can build a monster if you are deep or you can really take advantage of those that are always building for the future.

Played a few redraft best ball leagues...looking to get into a dynasty-start up or any new redrafts/auctions

Don't play best ball and don't want to. I want to have to have to make the tough call on which three of my five WRs to start. And I want my opponent have to make that call as well. I see best ball as lazy man's FF.

I see your point but to me it's more like Omaha in poker. Hold 'em you have slight edges, Omaha you get massive edges. In best ball if you have a loaded or deep team you have a huge advantage week in and week out. Injuries and what Bill says in New England don't matter. To me there is nothing artful about being at the mercy of coaches or bad injury info. It doesn't make you more or less of a player/mgr because you guess right or wrong that week, it's gambling hwoever you slice it. look at FBG and how they had to handle Gates this season, it's not their fault.

So far I'm the only response for best ball dynasty. It's fun, 31 man roster.

You have to make a choice on keeping a developing or injured player for

a waiver wire break out. I found this league in the looking for leagues forum.

I also play in a TD only dynasty league, auction dynasty league and "regular"

dynasty league and a 10 man keeper. Each is fun in their own way. Don't

knock it till you've tried it and even then you can just say "not for me".

This best ball is also a total points league. I think that's the best format for it.
