DO you sleep better when your SO isn't in bed with you? (1 Viewer)

Today marks one year of living with a girlfriend for the first time. Definitely prefer sleeping alone. In general, I go to sleep four hours later than her and wake up three hours after. That three hours of freedom at the end is pretty much what keeps me sane.
We're close to the opposite.  I'll go to bed a few hours and wake up a few hours before she does.

Three of the five black eyes i've received in my life came from my sleeping wife.

My Mary & i were both enormous, hadnt the luxury of kingsize beds nor a college education (the main function of which, i insist to this day, is to teach people to sleep two to a dorm bed) and were floppy as fresh-caught carp. She's been dead 20 yrs and i think i still got shin scars from kicks by her scabbyass size13 feet. Thankfully we kept very different hours, didnt have kids, never felt the need for the ritual and were as comfortable on the couch in front of the TV

ETA: Oddly, tho, i sleep on my side of the bed to this day
I bet you have some great stories about how you got the other two black eyes.

Not really. It's hard for people who see me now - 6' 4, 300+ - to believe it, but i was a pipsqueak til i was about 12. No kidding - when i realized my talent for conning kids outta lunch money and such at age 8-9, i had to engage a massive Portuguese kid, Wayne Silva, as a bodyguard (he was my gofer/muscle all through my showbiz career a decade later and, when he took a job @ a NCar nuclear plant when i decided to go west, we joked that he'd smash the atoms by hand). Blackeye #1 came when my dad told me to go back at an older kid who was harshing me on the bus when i was about 8. Got a shiner and a rep when i did. Blackeye #2 was in CYO boxing. My uncle was Gold Gloves and determined i be. I went for CYO, first fight was good, second fight i caught a cross str8 across the chops, got that totally ridiculous feeling you get before a KO when your legs wont do what you tell em and you feel like you mighta messed yourself, and never returned to the ring. #3-4-5 all ScaryMary's sleepflop sidewinders.

The incidents might be somewhat mundane, but the way you tell/write them makes them interesting.

King size beds are worth every penny. Our room barely fits ours, but no chance is ever go to a Queen.
:goodposting:   The best thing we ever bought for our house was a king size bed.  For some reason the wife insists that the Boston Terrior and Bulldog sleep in bed with us and they some up so much more space than dogs their size should.  Add to the fact we both basiclly have our own twin bed now and it makes a huge difference.  We don't have much space in our bedroom besides the bed and dressers but it is not like we spend much time in the bedroom other than in bed anyway.  I couldn't even imagine going back to a queen bed.
