Feels like the hype for the story out-punted the coverage of the story.

I hope the team cleans house, but the hype suggested a bit more than the story delivered.
Are we sure that’s all there is? Have heard the rumors of a much wilder story being brought to light.

When I figure out how to find it and quote it I'm gonna pass along the Succession-like "Boar on the floor!" exercise that Mr. Snyder liked to pull on an employee who was a former male cheerleader.

The last couple of years have routinely shown us how people we thought were pretty awful were actually even worse.

Edit: our friend Patrick Hruby has it on his feed.

Here’s what I don’t get: The Post surely heard all the rumors swirling all morning about how they were going to deliver an absolute kill shot on Snyder, and they also knew that what they did have was a pretty big deal but nothing like what was rumored. Why wouldn’t their PR department try to tamp down speculation? Leaving all those rumors out there was unfair to the subjects, who were being accused of far worse than what they actually did, and was also unfair to the subjects of the story. It’s like everyone is disappointed now that it was “only” sexual harassment and I worry that their still very serious allegations will be ignored.

Danny Boy must have some good attorneys.

Yup.  There is no doubt about it.  There were reports that lawyers at the post and Dans lawyers were involved.  I have no doubt there is more to it.  But it likely got nixed and the post likely had to revise the article.

...it would hit the AFC East and the Patriots will have conveniently decided to train in New Zealand, which would have been unharmed.
Minutes before the meteor made impact, Belichick calmly installed the Malcolm Butler Defense Shield over the Patriots’ practice facility

I’m not dismissing that scenario at all. But there is also the possibility that we all want to assume there’s more to the story because we spent all day yesterday figuring Snyder was toast and now we’re disappointed that he may not be

He didn't hire a legal team to "investigate" for nothing.

Gameday, if you are wearing Redskins gear are you allowed in the stadium?
i brought this up a few days ago--  i have a friend who just finished his basement and is a huge Redskins fan-  tons of stuff, signs, jerseys, helmet, pennants etc-  all with the logo and name..  not to mention all of his clothing/ jerseys..   can he wear his Redskins gear in public, or will he me shamed and cancelled by the internet mob?    What will the Skins do for throwback uniform games??

What the Post published was very serious. It could lead to lawsuits and punishment from the league, so that alone would justify Snyder bringing in a law firm to investigate. It’s just unlikely to cost him the team. In NBA terms, it’s a Mark Cuban story rather than the Donald Sterling one we were all expecting/hoping for.

Seems similar to Jerry Richardson.   I guess the difference being between being an actual part of the harassment of four employees (I think) or looking past the harassment of fifteen.   And I'm not sure which "plays" worst - allowing such conduct to happen in his team's office(s) or not even knowing that it was happening (think NCAA and lack of institutional control).   I'm not getting into the prediction game but this certainly can go down a path where new owners are being introduced in the near future.   Seems to me to depend on how good these lawyers are and the appetite of the other owners to be associated with all of this versus how much they fear being too quick on the trigger might make them the next one out.

Morally, I don’t see a huge difference between Snyder and Richardson. But practically speaking, it matters that Snyder hasn’t been directly accused of anything. It’s really hard to force an owner to sell. Sterling became a national pariah and his players were in open revolt. Richardson was old as dirt and it didn’t take much to nudge him out the door. Snyder is in his 50s and by all accounts has no interest in stepping away.

I would love it if this scandal, or something else that the Post has, or really anything, forced that doosh out. But so far, I don’t see it

I’m sure some will.  I won’t be.  It’s like stopping a fan from wearing the confederate flag.  They can if they want.  It’s not a good look though.

unless i missed a specific ban on fans wearing this.

I don't think the intenet mob is going to care about your friends basement. Your friend should probably rethink his life priorities though.

If Washington tasked me with solving the problem, I would tell them two things:

1. Don’t do anything.

2. Improve the team

There will be some fans who wear Redskins gear next year, slightly fewer the following year, and so on. Eventually it will fade away. Don’t force the issue and make them martyrs.

Meanwhile, if the team becomes a contender, they will sell lots of Haskins/Young/whoever jerseys, along with a ton of merch with the Redtails, or Red Wolves, or Redd Foxes logo.

How many fans show up to Foxboro wearing Steve Grogan/Pat the Patriot jerseys?

WHAT IF??

What if Dan Snyder KEPT the name "Redskins".....

....but changed the mascot to a potato??

Would THAT be okay??

Sterling shouldnt have been forced to sell.  I think he didnt have the time or energy to fight that in courts

Unless you are going to actually exchange the gear for people, it will be hard to avoid.  A lot of NFL fans like to wear older jerseys of former greats to games too

Odds to be Washington's new team name:

Redtails 3/1

Generals 4/1

Warriors 4/1

Presidents 5/1

Redwolves 6/1
Warriors would be a huge own-goal, squandering any good will they generated by announcing the name change.

Generals is ridiculous. Why name your team after a laughingstock?

Wasn't this supposed to be decided early last week.
I believe I heard it was.  However someone had bought up the name as a trademark and that is being worked out.   There was an article about a guy that bought a bunch of possible names that had to speak out that he wasn't holding any of his names hostage, but who knows...

Just going with “Washington Football Team” this year.  They’ll probably get roasted for it, but seems to make sense versus rushing a new name/logo/etc.
