Do you think that you know your team better than most? (1 Viewer)

First off, I apologize if this shouldn't be posted here, but it didn't seem to fit anywhere else. Feel free to move it if you think it deserves to be moved.

I do think that it serves the shark pool though.

I have built a website that is sort of a Facebook for bloggers. No, I'm not hawking my website here. There won't be any mention of the domain name.

What I'm looking for is at least 32 sharks that feel like they know their favorite NFL team well enough to blog about it. I'm also looking for a few guys to blog about fantasy football and fantasy baseball and baseball teams and pretty much everything else under the sun. The main purpose of this post is trying to find at least one blogger for each NFL team though.

The theory is that if you get a blog following, in a social networking environment, part of that following will look at other blogs in topics that they are interested in on the site. Your traffic will increase another blog's traffic and visa versa. You get a free blog where you can upload pictures, videos, files, etc... and you can link to those things in posts on other sites. For instance, you can take a picture of your team's training camp on your iphone and upload it to your blog and link to that on FBG if you want. As long as you have a decent blog and aren't out to just rob me of server resources, I don't mind. Currently there is no limit on what you upload as long as it's legal (Note you must own the rights to what you are uploading and keep it clean). You'll also get some tools to connect your blogs to Twitter, Facebook etc...

What I get is to put relevant ads in your blog which won't make me enough money to pay my server costs, (Facebook ads convert at 0.04%. I think that I can do better, but still not enough to make money.), but as I gain members on the site, I do believe that I'll have another ad platform that will convert at enough to make me a profit. This is a risk and something that might break me, but even if I fail, I think somebody will follow behind me and make it work. The ads will be highly targeted. If you blog about the Giants, you'll be in the Giants group, which is a subgroup of the NFL group, which is a subgroup of the sports group. The ads on your site are more likely hawking Giants tickets and Giants Jerseys, than hawking Gucci handbags.

Once I am making money, I do have a plan to where the best bloggers on the site will also make money. Don't count on this happening though. If the fact that you're getting a free blogging platform that doesn't limit you on your uploads doesn't entice you, don't sign on to be a blogger. I'm not even certain that I can make money, I'm certainly not sure that I'll get to the point that I can pay bloggers.

So if any of this appeals to you, post here and I'll respond. If the site does take off, the initial bloggers will have a head start on the ones that follow them.

Ask any questions and throw out any comments.

I'm now taking odds on whether someone thinks this is a WDIS thread and moves it to the assistant coaches forum. ;)

If you'd like to blog about something other than football, post here as well. I'm looking for almost every topic one can think of, but it may take me a while to set you up with a blog as I'll set the bloggers for the NFL group first.

sihaokills you don't really have to apply. If 6 guys want the Chargers, I'll sign up all 6 guys for the Chargers. Do you have any questions though?

I don't mean to be a jerk, and I'm interested in what comes of your site/idea...but for the potential bloggers that you're seeking, if the only thing they're getting is a free blogging platform, aren't there several free (blogger.com, wordpress.com) or next-to-free (wordpress.org/joomla/drupal) blogging platforms out there already?

And these potential bloggers could run their own ads on their own free blogs, and collect their own pennies month after month...?

Assuming that a guy has the charisma & dedication to blog about his team (which is not easy, by the way), what makes your site a better opportunity for him than going with one of the options above?

Yep, you can get a free blog at the other places too and depending on who you blog with you might be able to squeeze in a few of your own ads. Just about all free hosts will severely limit what you can upload though and more than half will not let you post any ads on your site. I think that the big opportunity on my site is that you will gain traffic off of other blogs. If my site fails, it will be because bloggers will be able to gain a following big enough to try it on their own before I can pay them. If they do leave, it's because they have enough followers to make a profit. I can't fault them for it if I'm unable to respond quick enough with a money making opportunity.Trying to explain my site a little more... You may like the Cardinals and follow Cardinals blogs, but you also might like fly fishing and there will be blogs on the site about fly fishing too. This isn't like blogger.com where you go out and search for the Cardinals and then search again for fly fishing. It's more like Facebook where you get an activity stream where one buddy posted about Larry Fitzgerald and another buddy posted about flies that he used during the flood in Iowa. The big difference between my site and Facebook right now though is that I don't try to leverage your friends against you. The only 2 pieces of info that you need to sign up for my website is a nickname and an email address. Eventually I want to give people multiple profiles. So you can connect with family in one profile and friends in another etc... I want you to be able to see that Grandma would like to ride a train right before you are trying to figure out what to do for her birthday, but I don't want you devoting 10 minutes out of every day trying to stock grandma's farm in farmville. You don't have to use your real name on my website and you won't be blindly accepting friends just because they know who you are and you don't want them to think that you hate them. If you don't want to be found, they won't find you.A place where you can find people that are totally dedicated to reporting on subjects that you are interested in has a huge value though. The fact that you don't have to sell your soul to get it is priceless. I know that the site will work and will be valuable. the matter of whether I can hold out long enough to make money on it is debatable.

Sounds ambitious, good luck. Just like Facebook trounced Myspace, there are definitely enough issues with Facebook that someone can come along and trounce it.

I'll give this thread some time over the holiday weekend before I'll send out emails. I realize that the timing of this post isn't the greatest.
