Think hard before you answer this one. Trent Green is not Keith Null. Green was an excellent QB.

In 1998, Green was with the Redskins. He threw for 3,441 yards with 23 TDs & 11 INTs. After the 1998 season, Green signed a 4-year $16.5 million contract with St. Louis. Coming with him from Washington was a guy named Mike Martz.

1999 was the first year of the Martz offense in St. Louis. It was Marshall Faulk's first year with the Rams. Torry Holt's, too.

When Warner was injured in the 2000 season, Green started 5 games. He threw for 2,063 yards with 16 TDs & 5 INTs!

So, the question is... did Kurt Warner do anything Trent Green could not have done with that same '99 team?

Some will think this is a referendum to the system the Rams had running in 1999, but in reality they had two very good QBs on that team. I wonder what would have come of Green's career had he not gotten hit by that cheap shot by Harrison.

I think he was a great spot starter for the Rams but he didn't have Warner's quick release which was necessary for Martz' offense as he left no one behind to save the QB from getting killed. TRent Green would've gotten injured in 1999 in the regular season in that offense and then there would've been a QB controversy and a mess when Warner played well in relief.

The injury to Green helped to galvanize the team and also helped teams to overlook the Rams. I remember being given tickets to the season opener against the Ravens that year. 14th row, on the 30. SWEET seats. Didn't cost me a thing. And since I witnessed Green get injured live and in person I was happy to get the seats. The Ravens didn't take the Rams seriously till it was too late. They even rested Odgen that game.
