Do you tip your commisioner? (1 Viewer)

my local league I have won 3 times in 13 years, case of beer for the commish each time. That said 2 of the 3 times I have won it I blew at least $400+ at awards night on booze and other things for whoever was there..If I win 500 bucks in the tip jar I give her a tip for pulling the tab, least I can do is spring for a case of beer when I am winning close to a grand.

that said if it was an online league and I didnt really know the guy I wouldnt tip I'm sure.

Commish gets 10% on avg in our local league and has for years.

He's not tipped for running the league although thats not easy. He's tipped for collecting the money, which is definitely harder.

In our league losses, drop/adds and trades cost plenty and can add up. Collecting around christmas every year is tough, guys who have money all year are suddenly broke.

We plan our draft every year around a golf/gambling weekend. While nobody tries to tip me in cash they all buy me a beer or shot on the golf course as a way of saying thanks. Great guys!! At the end of every round while I'm paying off massive golf bets (against suspect golfers at best), I am truly warmed by their generosity......

I wouldn't, if I weren't commish.

As commish, I would not accept.

Not a big money league ($300 top prize), but would seem weird all around.

I'd accept a beer, though.

never heard of such a thing.

I have run a league for 8 years and I am just happy when everyone pays their league fee on time.

since I win every other year they probably figure I get enough of their money.

I used to run 2 leagues but got someone else to take over one.

probably should tip him for doing that.

I did advise him to not trade with me any more.

lol

wouldn't take a tip if offered.

interesting thougth though.

Simmer down, chief. I guess I hit a nerve. That's cool if you don't agree. I've seen it in a number of leagues. I said the position attracts these people, and I'm absolutely right. I didn't say every commish is like that. But if you spend time on this forum you'll see it. It's interesting that because you claim not to see it yourself, I don't know what I'm talking about-- as if your experience is the end-all of fantasy football.

I'm also comfortable with my posts and attitude ruffling your feathers. I didn't post it to make friends out of strangers on the Internet. I posted it to add my thoughts about the topic-- tipping commissioners. I believe in doing something, I understand why a commissioner wouldn't want it and I think many commissioners have a Cinderella mindset.

I don't know if you're just in a bad mood on Christmas, or you saw a little bit of yourself in my post (you admitted you commish two leagues). Maybe I hit too close to home. I'm a commissioner as well, but the truth is the truth. Hope you enjoy your fantasy of kicking me out of your league (that'll really teach me a lesson) and Merry Christmas.
NBZ, I think you are out of line. You claim to be absolutely right, but you only play in a handful of leagues. I play in 16 leagues with about 7 different commissioners. There is not one I would classify as "dancing monkey" or use describe them in any way the way you did. Some are better than others, of course, but I find nothing in any of them that indicates what you wrote. I find your remark "as if your experience is the end-all of fantasy football" to be ironic because that is how I view your comments. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you.
