Trying to get a feel for how many fantasy footballers use their smartphone...
Who doesn't right? This question popped into my head after reading the opponent not setting lineup thread.duh?
WTF does one have to do with the other? He didn't go on the league chat and say he couldn't get access to the site, he said he had other issues that prevented him from caring about making FF lineup changes. So let's pretend that a league member (who is out of the playoff hunt at 2-8 or 3-7) does not set his lineup and has 2-4 players on bye. He comes into the league chat on Tuesday and states that he had a medical emergency with wife/kids/family/whatever. This poll is showing 9 out of 10 fantasy footballers have a constant connection with their smart phone. Are you buying what he is selling? Or is this just a ploy to make anyone who challenges the "medical emergency" excuse as insensitive?
Really, no correlation there? A guy who has a smartphone and is constantly connected to the internet can't find 2 minutes during the week to change his lineup?WTF does one have to do with the other? Read what I wrote again. The point is that he isn't denying that he had the ability to make roster changes. Your poll should have asked "If you had a family emergency, would you still take time out of helping the person with the problem/updating other family on condition/running errands to make your roster changes?"Really, no correlation there? I like the MFL app I found for the iPhone. You can really go through your leagues for scoring updates quickly and submit lineups if a player is out. I don't get on any of my sites really until the Monday night games are over, just breeze through the app for the scoring updates.I like MFL's app![]()
Actually, I think you need to read the original question. I am asking you if you are buying what he is selling. Every time an owner does not set a lineup, they get to use the "medical emergency" excuse? What about setting an early lineup on Tuesday or Wednesday? Are you completely rejecting the most likely reason - that the owner did not submit a lineup to earn a better draft position?Read what I wrote again. Believe it or not, there are some people out there who's #1 priority in life isn't fantasy football. This.'Donsmith753 said:I use it more than my laptop.
My answer would be yes, as it doesn't take but a second. However, there have been times where I got caught up in family things and forgot to make roster moves I had planned on, and then got beat to the punch. Are you completely rejecting the most likely reason - that the owner did not submit a lineup to earn a better draft position?A perfect example of why I don't play fantasy football anymore. There are way more important things in life than fantasy football. I hope some of you find it some day.
I would feel sorry and remorseful. No excuse to take 5 minutes from the rest of your week to set a lineup. I'd say tough luck and tell him to set his lineup in advance. You let this slide then what's next? Someone else will have an emergency. That don't fly in money leagues...'Velveeta22 said:So let's pretend that a league member (who is out of the playoff hunt at 2-8 or 3-7) does not set his lineup and has 2-4 players on bye. whoa whats with the name calling. no need to call someone a tool or to get a life. personally if it was me in a money league or a friend league i wouldnt expect anyone to make changes to my lineup after the fact. and if was an emergency i wouldnt be to concerned with my lineup let alone what happened in fantasy football before or after the fact. i simply would not care if i took a loss because i had a family emergency. You sound like a complete tool.Ever think its not "just an excuse" and he really had family issues? Maybe you're too young and immature to have ever had an experience like he may or may not have had. Whatever the case, I only play in a league with friends so I would absolutely understand if someone told me their mother died, dad's sick or, hell, even if it were the family dog. Get a life.
I like the HTC phones, never had a problem, and I am brutal to phones (physical damage, constant use [right now], lots of apps.). If you want something other than an iPhone. I've sworn off Motorola, every phone I ever had from them had issues.I agree with the sentiments here, there is a lack of good fantasy apps, the mobile version of the websites is preferred. In the market for a smartphone...
Any recommendations?
Some hard fishing with the name calling and I appreciate your voice of reason. I realize now, after re-reading the thread, that I opened myself up to this. There will be a certain percentage of the population that is making assumptions from my open-ended questions to start some dialogue on the matter. Of course, if you are in a family and friends league and there is a health issue that everyone knows about, you make exceptions.I am simply raising the point about internet connectivity and fantasy football. The poll shows 90% of the guys on this forum are connected 24/7 with their 3G+ phones right next to them. You will be hard pressed to find money leagues consisting of FBG's that accept cheesy excuses from 2-8 teams on why they did not get 2 minutes during the week to set a lineup. In this day of internet connection and fantasy football, you see players dropped during first come, first served waiver periods and then picked up by another league owner within minutes. Do you think that guy is sitting at his computer all day waiting for that waiver pickup? Good fantasy football players have set up their smartphones for instant notifications of drops. I am pointing out a trend that is sure to continue into even greater connectivity at faster speeds.whoa whats with the name calling. no need to call someone a tool or to get a life. personally if it was me in a money league or a friend league i wouldnt expect anyone to make changes to my lineup after the fact. and if was an emergency i wouldnt be to concerned with my lineup let alone what happened in fantasy football before or after the fact. i simply would not care if i took a loss because i had a family emergency. You sound like a complete tool.Ever think its not "just an excuse" and he really had family issues? In this case, as commissioner, I would take out the bye players and submit his best possible lineup (from the points entering that week), even after the fact.I will not have any tanking, either intentional or accidental. So let's pretend that a league member (who is out of the playoff hunt at 2-8 or 3-7) does not set his lineup and has 2-4 players on bye. i understand your point but it does only take 3 minutes to set your lineup and everyone has a phone. to think that one can not set the lineup when prizes are up for grabs is just beyond me. no matter what the reason. thats why you also dont wait to the very last second to set your lineup, there are seven days in a week. and the name calling seems to be a habit on this board, so nothing new there.no excuses ever for not setting your lineup, ever. You sound like a complete tool.Ever think its not "just an excuse" and he really had family issues? maybe he should of set his lineup in the other 6 days in the week, thats why no one has an excuse.call me shallow or insensitive, but i dont care. i would set my lineup no matter what happened, because i would do it in one of the seven days we have in a week.So let's pretend that a league member (who is out of the playoff hunt at 2-8 or 3-7) does not set his lineup and has 2-4 players on bye. Then your SOL, maybe thats why you should check daily that way your always up to date. or dont put in people you know are hurt or might not play.why is this always a shocking question? if you sign up for the league respect the others and set your lineup, if you cant dont play.fanatasy football is important to some, its a hobby, a get away from the wife. to knock it or say someone dont have a life because they care about their team and league is beyond a cheap answer. its only a saying people use to get under others skin, which is the #1 thing on this board, insulting others. football is second. which is odd on a football page. What if you are waiting to find out the injury status of certain players before setting your lineup?maybe he should of set his lineup in the other 6 days in the week, thats why no one has an excuse.call me shallow or insensitive, but i dont care. i would set my lineup no matter what happened, because i would do it in one of the seven days we have in a week.So let's pretend that a league member (who is out of the playoff hunt at 2-8 or 3-7) does not set his lineup and has 2-4 players on bye. whats more important than football on this site, to talk as if anything else is more important than football on a football page is ironic, isnt it?
It's a matter of taste. I like the MFL app as well, but mostly because it is chincy. I can do everything I need to do with it, like setting line-ups, add/drops and checking scores. It's not a place for player news and the format is pretty simplistic, but I'll take the simplicity that works without awful loading times, signficantly delayed scoring updates, and general bugginess that I get from the awful Yahoo app. In fact, I'm thinking about ditching all my yahoo leagues because their mobile app is so terrible. I'd like to see some sort of gameday update on MFL (like which of my starters are inactive), but I'll still take the simple, effective app over the complex, ineffective app any day.what's the app called? i have MFL mobile and it's pretty chincy.I like the MFL app I found for the iPhone.
