Unless you are a fan of one of the teams they are playing, this is a pretty easy UK team to root for. Kids are all well-spoken, play hard, play unselfishly, etc. And, contrary to popular belief, they have 4 sophomores, and a junior in their 9-man rotation - so its not all 1-and-dones.

I'm continuously impressed by how hard they go at it on the defensive end. Cal sold the team on the idea that NBA scouts care about what players can do and how they go about doing it, and are evaluating skills, not high counting stats and/or minutes played. It's true, but not easy for an 18-year-old diva to accept.

Since my meager playing days were as an undersized PG, I love watching guys like Ulis succeed. He's going to be a major asset for that program for a couple more years, too.

My minor, indirect connection with Cauley-Stein (he played high school ball not far from where I live, I've met the family that took him in so he could go to a high-quality high school for academics and athletics) has me rooting for him, too.

They haven't gotten in trouble off the court, and haven't had eligibility issues surface from either the classroom or overzealous relatives. The other Blue Bloods can't claim a clean sheet on that list.

My horses are out of this race, so why not root for a team to make history?

Notre Dame could give them a scare tonight despite the 11-point spread. They are 7th in the country in % 3-pointers made (min. 700 attempts). But if they aren't dropping, it's gonna be another night of channel-surfing.

Even if they win the tourney, they're not legit champs unless they also face Syracuse. Just because the best team in the nation is ineligible doesn't mean the runner-up gets the crown without a giant asterisk on it.
Titus's mailbag this week had a suggestion for college basketball to add an automatic title shot provision, kind of like the "Money In The Bank" suitcase in WWE. So Kentucky could win the tournament, celebrate, start grabbing ladders to cut the nets down... And then UConn's fight song starts playing, the Huskies run out on the court in full uniform, and UK has to play UConn right then and there to defend their title.

Is not care an option?

I would like to see some entertaining and competitive basketball games though.

That would be a helluva game for 2 or 3 minutes.

I assumed that people who didn't care wouldn't even click on the thread.
Curiosity, I guess.I don't think they get a game tonight, but I think they do in Indy. Don't care whether they win or lose, but I hope for some entertaining ball. I've never left before halftime of a game, ever, but I had to Thursday night. Disgraceful performance from West Va.

That would be so awesome.

Titus's response included a counterproposal where the MITB match should be a five-minute OT, and couldn't occur during Final Four weekend, but could take place after any other game in the tournament where the MITB could challenge for the winning team's spot in the bracket.

One of the UK fans here (can't remember which one) said early on the game that scared him the most was the semifinal on Final Four Saturday. The opponent would be a really good team playing well enough to get to the Final Four with s week to prepare. The second game of any tournament weekend tilts towards UK because the short prep time limits game planning advantages and highlights UK's depth: their bench is better and deeper than any other bench in the country, and we've known that since November.

The only reason I care is because I have Kentucky in my bracket, like most of America. I really don't care aside from that.

A tired Kentucky team would beat this year's UConn team by 100.

usually, 99% of the time, I agree with this. But when history can be made by apparently good people, I'll cheer for them.

Lifelong Hoosier so want them to lose so Hoosiers remain last undefeated team. Not going to happen as Kentucky is taking this thing the distance.

I do love this Kentucky team. They play hard, they play unselfish, they don't showboat, they play great defense.

Voted yes because I like to see events like this happen. UK should have continued success given that Calipari is now just a player broker between college and the NBA. Calipari has worked the system perfectly in his favor and will continue to get the top one and done or possibly two and done players for the foreseeable future. UK may have one down year but they should be in position to take 3-4 of the next 6 NCAA titles.

I would love to see UK lose by 50 everyone they step on the court. People say they are talented but not the best they have seen. I hate to admit it because I hate UK with a passion, but this is the best team I have seen in college basketball. That is count Ewing when he was at Georgetown, jordan at NC, UNLV with Grandmama, Sampson at Virginia, and the Houston phi slama jamma boys. This UK team beats those teams IMO.

Not a Kentucky fan but yes, I'd like to see them win it. Not only that but is like to see them do it in dominating fashion. Like win their remaining games by 20+ domination. I don't have a good reason for this, but it's kind of how I feel. Maybe a part of me thinks I can talk about how good this team is when I'm old and young ins think I'm crazy.

grammar jokes?

Seriously, objectively this team is right up there with any other team for a single year.

Do you think that UK would lose to any team in college history? If so which team? Maybe UCLA from back in the day, but my money would be on UK.

this is ridiculous. Good players leave college after one year now. In the 70s and 80s teams were littered with 4 yr senior nba caliber players. Kentucky has zero competition right now

I don't know enough about college basketball to know if this team would fair well vs. other all time greats.

I do know this Kentucky team towers over anyone else in college basketball, currently. It's laughable even when seeing it on TV. Like a Pro team in college uniforms.

Just the shear size of these guys makes me think they have a shot vs anyone historically. Maybe that's totally off base.

Laetner, hill, hurley duke team was better. Heck you can make a case this isnt even the best kentucky team of the last 20 years. Check that 1996 roster that won the championship.

again its because all the big men with any talent leave for the nba after one year.

Yeah, but what will people say about this Kentucky roster in 20 years?

Same here. I'm not a Patriots fan but wanted them to finish undefeated to witness the history of it.

If they stuck around for three or four years like those teams when college ball was at its peak then they would probably be better. Nature of the beast these days unfortunately. Right now though, not top five, probably not top ten.

So, generally speaking this NCAA product of basketball is an inferior product vs. years past, right? Yet, oddly enough I like it more than NBA.
