Does anyone care that we are having a DROUGHT? (1 Viewer)

If I remember correctly, a lot of that region is desert, isn't it? Seems like a drought would hardly be unexpected.

It's been a wet one here. Like every day. Well, every OTHER day. Twice a week. Ok. Three times every two weeks.

STOP JUDGING ME!

It's been raining cats and dogs here in MN. Tons of soil washouts and only a few days in the last two months to get in the fields.

Water in the lakes is high. No wake zones are in effect in many places.

Not that people in the SW care about our wet spring/start of summer.

Plenty of water in SW MO. I was able to float the upper Buffalo river in June. Best float in the country.

Nor Cal is a disaster. Insanely dry winter, no snow runoff from the mountains, rivers and lakes at record-low levels.

If we don't get some rain soon, there's going to be a very severe maryjane shortage. You bozos won't be laughing when you're paying $100 for an eighth of good Cali kush...

You should hang out with gorillas the way you like to pick those nits

It's always dry this time if year (we're actually in the middle of SoCal fire season) but the cumulative effect of no rain even during the dry winter we had (I can't really remember a drier or milder winter) is killing us.

What most people don't think about with California is that the enormous Central Valley is a major farming area. It's part of the problem in a sense because they use a huge amount of water of course, but it'll also be a big mess if they start having to cut back on watering for farming because that food gets distributed all over.

It's actually a bit scary because if this continues we plain flat can't support the population out here. People will literally have to move to survive, which seems odd to think about in this country in this day and age, but there you go.

CA produces a pretty good % of the country's food, doesn't it?

Memphis may have a lotta murdering goin on... But we are sitting atop one of the worlds largest aquifers loaded with delicious fresh water. I guess the city is somewhat like the Middle East of water. Under educated, behind the times, and violent... But sitting on a treasure trove of a resource.

Mmmm :banned:

I live an hour west in Flemington, and we got some rain late last week...it was the first substantial rain we've had in a month or more. The NYC Metro area has really been hit or miss as some places are fine, and others missed a ton of storms.

The resivoir where I fish is so low these days. I literally have to carry my kayak across 50 yards of what used to be water to get to the edge to put in. The creek I usually put in at is normally 30 yards wide. It's about 5 yards wide and 3 feet deep at the moment.

That's just the feeder stream. I'd guess the overall reservoir is down 10 - 15 feet. It's over 60' deep in spots, so there's still plenty of water overall. It's just crazy to see the shoreline in 50 yards on each side. Spots that used to be 300 or 400 yards wide are barely 200 yards wide now.

Found some pictures on my fishing forum...

Here's the shoreline...all of it...That's the water waaaay off in the distance. This is taken from the spot they call the "pier," which is really just a peninsula that folks fish off of.

Here's the feeder creek. You can see how wide it usually is, all the way to the tree-line and a lot deeper.

It is kind of nice to take a ton of pictures so that I can note on my charts where some underwater features are for fishing in the future.

The earth is 80% water

We haven't figured out the whole drought thing yet? Or how to convert ocean water into fresh water?

So lame

Some celeb nudies and the world bands together to hack cell phones.

Civilizations have dwindled due to lack of water and we cant seem to figure it out

What do you care? Pomegranate's are made for drought!
I would sacrifice a few pomegranates for the well being of a couple other billion people.

I sent my wife out to get some today.

I hope she got a few. Wegmans usually has that big pallet box of some of the biggest poms I have ever seen, without compromising taste
