Does Floyd move ahead of Blackmon now in rookie drafts? (1 Viewer)

Nope. Blackmon is the better talent. Remember talent doesn't change but situations do. If Gabbert sucks again, the Jags will go get another QB (Barkley?).

Which all comes back to... Why should someone spend a top 5 pick on an investment that wont return anything for three years. And this guy isn't considered an Elite prospect.

Tough one. I hate Gabbert. Guy may be the biggest vag to to ever suit up in an NFL uniform. Floyd having Fitz as a mentor is a huge plus too.

Certainly will see single coverage across from fitz
It's a great thing for Fitz too. Makes their offense that much better and me happy for trading for Fitz a few days ago. Even though Floyd isn't going to a place where he's the top target, I think it's the best thing for his career.

Agreed, but what his upside being the #2 with the QB situation? I can see this helping to open things up for Fitz but I don't see huge numbers out of Floyd.

I don't think Jax is a bad landing spot. Sure, their QB situation is bad, but they have no viable options in the passing game besides Blackmon. That equates to a lot of targets.

:goodposting: I'll take a #1 WR who was rated higher by most experts over a #2 WR who while still really good, has more risk, off the field issues.

We aren't going to see MJD running 340 times anymore.

and you bring up another point. Teams will be focusing on stopping MJD, which should help the passing game open up. Will teams be focusing on the run when playing Arizona? I doubt it.

This is what I call "I will never change my mind" and at the same time, "Uh Oh".

You only need to rush 1 to get Gabbert in the fetal position.

if Gabbert sucks this year as bad as he did last year, the Jags will have a top pick again next year and address the QB spot. They could also go the FA route right?

Agree with this, though I still like Floyd a lot. I have a feeling Blackmon could be a terrific bargain in rookie drafts.

Why did they pay all that money for Laurent then?
Robinson will be the #2 and IMO will be a viable target. Should help Blackmon.
Apparently ebf says he isn't a viable option? Nor is marcedes or Mike thomas
Saw that, but I disagree and think this offense could very well surprise. Laurent is better as a #2 WR, and Mike Thomas is better as a #3 IMO. They'll all help each other.

Laurent, Thomas and Marcedes are complementary players and are a good thing for Blackmon.

I like Blackmon's situation better. I would rather have the #1 WR on a bad team than a #2 WR. If AZ had Kurt Warner (or equivalent) that would be different. Boldin put up good numbers back in the day, but Kolb is no Warner. Plus, AZ has a couple of other good veterans WRs. So, I don't think the opportunity will be there for Floyd to put up meaningful fantasy stats. I would rather have Blackmon.

Blackmon's value took a hit no doubt. But his ceiling was always lower than Floyd anyway. He's a better route runner than Floyd, but Floyd is better at everything else than Blackmon. I agree with others, unless Blackmon had gone to a team with a good QB situation, I was pegging Floyd higher anyway.
