Does the Freeney injury impact the Colts O? (1 Viewer)

ESPN's John Clayton is reporting that DE Dwight Freeney may have suffered a season-ending Lisfranc injury.

The team is already expecting Freeney to miss 3-4 games, but swelling in Freeney's foot is preventing an official determination of the injury. If the report is true, Freeney would need season-ending surgery, and could be questionable for the start of 2008. The Indianapolis Star also wrote that Freeney "probably" faces season-ending surgery. So this is obviously a huge loss. I dont see Simeon Rice filling the void. I have a hard time seeing this current unit minus Freeney and Rob Morris shuting teams down anymore.

Any chance we could be looking at more shootouts?

Rob Morris was definitely underappreciated at the end of 2006 and earlier this season, but Tyjuan Hagler had been just as solid a player. I don't know that there'll be a whole lot of difference. It will be interesting to see how Robert Mathis responds. Likely moving to the right end without Freeney to take the heat. I think a healthy Keiaho, Hagler and secondary will keep the Colt defense solid enough to keep things from getting out of hand too much. They'll miss Freeney against a team like NE, though, where they would absolutely have to have some pressure to succeed on defense.
