Does the loss of Portis help or hurt Donovan McNabb's numbers? (1 Viewer)

I see the Ryan Torain train is going on the other thread but will Torain keep up the same pace that he and Portis shared before the injury to Portis? I dont think so myself and McNabb will have to score more through the air IMO. So why no bump in his QB ratings? Any different opinions out there?

Lets hear them.

they might actually run more cuz he cant pass block

e: also yes i think he will run at least as well as portis has been.

Torain is running better than Portis this year.

Also, people are overexaggerating the pass blocking problem. Portis is a great pass blocker... but it isn't like nobody else knows how to block.

Portis hasn't been an effective runner for at least 1 1/2 years now. With that said, Portis is one of the best Rb's in the NFL at picking up the blitz. Overall, I think Torain will help the Washington offense, as they can now run the ball with some production. I upgrade the running game, but I haven't really changed McNabb's projections.

think about it.. worse pass blocking and better or equal running are pretty much the result of this change. would that make you throw more or less.

It isn't about throwing more or less. It is about effective passing. A better run game usually leads to a more effective pass game. Once again... people are overexaggerating the pass blocking problem too. It isn't as if Torain doesn't know how. Also, with a better run game you can use the Play Action pass.

I agree, defenses have to respect the run so the passing will be better with play action. How is Torain's receiving skills?
