The collapse of the Yankees was far more spectacular. I'm not sure anything in the football playoffs could possibly compare. Maybe a team being down 24 points and scoring 4 TDs in the last 5 minutes of a game would do it.

I mentioned elsewhere, this scenario, snatching 19-0 in the last minute of the game on a 2 minute drive, that comes close. Nothing can take away the pain of 2004, but sometimes its good to see some new pain inflicted in your name!

I think what I find to be lacking about this versus the Yankees is that the Patriots had one chance. The Yankees had 4. That's why I propose 4 scores in my hypothetical above.

The Red Sox and Yankees were considered two equal teams if the Sox weren't considered the favorite....Yankees went up with Schilling hurt.. Schilling comes back and the pitching matchups favored Boston if he could pitch... Boston had one of the alltime best lineups and the whole season was back and forth, Boston / New York...THIS SEASON WAS WAS WAS 100% Pats* and making history.... If the Yankees could carry some game 3 runs into game 4 I'd see the 4th qtr comparison. If this season was all about Patriots and Giants all year, I might agree but, we're talking a team and fans discussing the Greatest QB, the Greatest Team and the Greatest SEASON EVER Vs a team that was ready to fire it's HC and look for a new QB!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!As a Yankee fan, I never counted that a Win (Like many Pats fans did here).... I said all along it's one game at a time...Baseball is always 1 game, 1 pitch at a time.... Football is about the trenches and manhandeling a team like the Giants did last night.This was one team HUGELY favored over another looking to make history.... OOPS!Hey, but anyone can still mention both, yeah, they're among the greatest losses all time.
