depending on how close the storm hits near Miami, I believe they will reschedule it for Monday or Tuesday.Storm should hit the east coast about midnight, so we should know by the am.

With Hurricane Jeanne (now a category 3) expected to make landfall in Southeast Florida or perhaps just north of Palm Beach County tonite, the Phins and Local Governments have decided to cancel the game as scheduled...There's plenty of other sports and artistic events that had already been cancelled so this is not so surprising to us here in South Florida...

BREAKING NEWS: Dolphins Game Postponed

The Miami Dolphins have postponed Sunday's game against the Pittsburgh Steelers because of Hurricane Jeanne.

The Dolphins will meet with the Steelers to see when they will play the game.

Officials in the Dolphins organizations say the commissioner of the league encouraged them to postpone the game in the interest of public safety.

Dolphins-Steelers postponed due to Hurricane Jeanne Sept. 25, 2004SportsLine.com wire reports DAVIE, Fla. -- According to local television reports, the Miami Dolphins have postponed their game against the Pittsburgh Steelers on Sunday due to the threat of Hurricane Jeanne. The hurricane is expected to hit Florida's east coast this late Saturday night. The Miami area could be hit with strong wind and rain. The Steelers had flown to Miami on Friday, one day early, to beat the storm. A rescheduled date has not yet been given, but on Friday, coach Dave Wannstedt said the game could be played Monday or possibley even Tuesday. Miami's opening game against Tennessee was moved up one day and played on a Saturday because of Hurricane Ivan. One week earlier, the NFL forced the Dolphins to travel to New Orleans for an exhibition game after players balked at leaving their families while in the path of Hurricane Frances. Question....we heard about this all week, WHY wasn't it rescheduled for today like the T1T-ans game? Sounds like someone dropped the ball,.....................

If they play Monday, it won't be a doubleheader on TV.Will show in he Miami and Pitt area, with rest of country getting the ABC Monday night game.Tuesday probably the same, shown only in Miami and Pitt.

NOTE: Everyone should be contacting the commissioner of their league. They should make sure how your particular league is going to handle this in case at the worst, that the game is NOT replayed on Mon or Tues.In my league that I commish, I sent out this email yesterday:

NOTE: The Pitt @ Miami game scheduled for Sunday might be moved (Mon OR Tues) due to Hurricane Jeanne. If they move the game a day, a week, or several weeks........then any Steelers or Dolphins that you start in your lineup will count for your week 3 matchup REGARDLESS of when they actually play the game.

Neither team is off next week - could they feasibly play this game on Tuesday? It would be a really short week heading into Week 4. MIA is at NE, PIT is home to CLE. They'd have to try to get the game in Monday I would think.Unfortunately their bye weeks don't match up, which would make this game hard to make up any other way. Ren

This is not THAT easy. For example, what if they move the game to week 18 (I know this is unlikely, but let's pretend). Say Staley is your stater this week, but gets hurt in week 4 and is out for the year. What now? Are you still OK starting him and getting a 0? Do you get to replace him with some other Mia-Pit player? If your rules allow you to start a player 5 min before game time, can you skip a starter completely now, and start any Dolphin/Steller at that position in week 18?Let's juts hope the game is moved to a Mon/Tue of the coming week, and everything else falls in place... :yucky:

4 teams play on Thanksgiving with 3 days off.So if they play Tuesday they will have 4 days off before Sunday.Would expect Tuesday to be the latest though.

I never said it was fool-proof, but you've got to start with some plan and go from there......but you made me think a little further so I will clarify for my league..........good thing is that there aren't that many fantasy options on either team like if it was Indy or such

There will be some big conspiracy where Peter Jennings objects to a game being played the same time as MNF and that Madden won't get off the log depository :toilet: on his bus until he is sure that there are no other games being played, ABC will F this up for monday, watch and see...All about the Bling bling, if there are 2 games ABC gets less of it. WTYM.

I've got Hines Ward in 2 out of 4 leagues. This game better get played.
Rest assured this game will be re-scheduled "pronto"...Though I must confess, to the millions of residents asked to evacuate their homes and looking for shelter from this Killer Storm, Hines Ward is nothing more than an afterthought if he is a "thought" at all...This area is REALLY streesed out over this unusually active Hurricane season and can't wait for November to come around...I'm sure a lot of Dolphin Players feel the same way

Wouldn't playing this game tonight in Miami be kind of dangerous? I don't think putting people in harms way would be prudent.

Sun Sentinel reschedule blurb was just posted here:Dolphins Postpone Sunday's GameRelevant bits:

The Dolphins-Pittsburgh Steelers game scheduled for 1 p.m. Sunday has been postponed indefinitely because of Hurricane Jeanne. The NFL is waiting to see the storm's effects on South Florida before determining when the game will be played, but the league has ruled out kickoff times of either 1 p.m. or 4 p.m. Sunday. The most likely options are Sunday night, Monday night or even Tuesday depending on Jeanne's impact.
It makes sense that it wasn't rescheduled for today, since people need to be preparing for Jeanne and the weather is already starting to turn. Sunday night may also be problematic, since there were mandatory curfews in Palm Beach county after Frances hit (lotsa power outages, traffic lights not working, etc.). Tuesday night is really the most realistic option at this point, since people will need time to get back on their feet.

I haven't seen (or researched) any official word on that Mia/Ten game fallout, but there was supposedly some sort of TV implications/violations going on with the move to Saturday. Maybe they want to avoid a repeat of that scenario.

It's not going to hit them, guaranteed. Check a map. :football:

I wonder if the NFL will see the easy solution here: just award the win to the Steelers, and move on, saving everyone the trouble. :football: :football: :football:

A van :bag: , down by the Niagara River. I saw on the weather channel it will just be windy in Miami, plus a catgory 2 Hurricane is for babies anyway.

Well - this is going to screw up a LOT of fantasy rosters. If they play Tuesday, scores count for this week?Big pile of . . .

Those were exactly our thoughts 12 hours before Hurricane Andrew changed it's course.....these storms are highly unpredictable...I sure hope and pray you are not employed by the National Hurricane Center...

I saw on the weather channel
They look a little different on the weather channel than they do live. People down here (who still have homes) are a little nervous, hurricanes have been known to change direction. I know it sounds crazy, but yes, the weathermen aren't always correct.

Understand, I don't mean to sound unsympathetic either. 7 feet of snow sucks too, I'll tell you first hand. Anyway, I think I might bench my Fish and Steelers(Gordon) so I don't have to deal with this, I say tuesday is best case right now.

I wish I could bench them, but we have limited roster spots and I only have 4 WRs and start 3. I have Ward and Chambers, also have S.Moss on a bye  . 16 roster spots with 9 starters doesn't allow you to manuever much.

I see 2 obvious options:(1) Consider both teams (MIA & PIT) like a bye week. Don't start and don't count scores for these players.(2) When game is rescheduled and played. Count scores retroactively for WEEK 3.Does anyone have another option for your FF league? and How is your league going to handle this game?

You're missing the point. The people at the game would be in danger. And comparing snow to a hurricane is apples and oranges. I lived through the 77 Blizzard and as long as you don't have to go anywhere, you are okay. A hurricane will kill you. Take everything that is there and put it somewhere else.

The Dolphins' fan base resides mostly in the tri-county area of Miami-Dade, Broward, and Palm Beach...Miami might not feel the brunt force of this storm, but as of right now Palm Beach is pretty much in its' path and Broward is evacuating residents as well, preparing for Tropical Storm winds, (up to 74 mph ), it takes a lot of people to work a Football game, both Stadium employees and Public Safety personnel.....it's kind of difficult to say the least , to direct traffic to Pro-Player Stadium while at the same time handling the traffic at every intersection where the Signals become inoperative due to the winds knocking them down or because of power failures...I'm sure you get my drift.....this game will be played soon enough, hopefully Monday or Tuesday...don't fool with Mother Nature...

Alright, but if the game was played on sunday Miss Cleo told me Gordon would have 120 yds and 2 TD's. Now that it might be tuesday it could be only 30 yds and no TD's. :loco:

If they play Monday, it's obviously not a big deal. If they play Tuesday, it shouldn't be a big deal either as far as allowing the points to be included in the Week 3 total. What could be an issue, however, is whether your online service will enable the scores on Tuesday to still be included in the Week 3 total. Our league is on Sportsline (which BTW is smack dab in the midst of all this too) and I have no idea how they will handle it though I would believe that once the dust settles they'll have some type of plan in place. At least that's my hope. I could always go back and manually adjust all of the scoring so that the Tuesday game is included in Week 3, but that would mean I'd have to probably manually adjust the scoring next week as well so that the Tuesday game results weren't included in the Week 4 totals. Again, hopefully Sportsline will have an option available if the game is re-scheduled for Tuesday. Best-case scenario is the game is played on Monday and, most importantly, everyone down there is all right and all of this mess ends real soon.

I'm curious how this will affect the FBGs contest if the game doesn't get played this week. My only TE in the $20000 Contest is McMichael, due to injury to Kleinsasser.

Does anyone have another option for your FF league? and How is your league going to handle this game?
My guess is that the game will be played Monday Night or Tuesday Night.Bye weeks for each team

MIA: week 10

PIT: week 7

If they had the same bye week, I could see a re-schedule for that bye week (remember when SD had the bye week in week 3 and then 9/11 struck? - they re-scheduled for later in the season) BUT...I don't see that happening.

1. Pittsburgh is already in the area and will likely stay in Miami until the game can be played, which most-likely will be Monday or Tuesday.

2. There would be no other date to make up the game, due to bye week conflicts btw the 2 teams.

My league will probably take the game as if it were a Monday night game. Points will be awarded for this week (week 3).

They could play the game in Pitt on Tuesday if they can't fit it in somewhere in the south. My best guess is they will play this game by no later then Wed afternoon.
