Dolphins Next QB - League Winning Upside? (2 Viewers)

Just spitballing here.

Assuming Tua is done for the year (lot of heavy lifting here) the Dolphins go out and sign Tannehill (still more lifting), throwing to Hill, Waddle, & Achane; would he be a league-winner in SF, or (gasp) 1 QB leagues?

What other QBs could step in to MIA offense & potentially blow up?

Where would you put the chances of MIA going after Tannehill? 0%? 15% 50-50? 🔒?

in a superflex I spent a premature $1 on Huntley last week....they made a move for him for a reason....Sky T is a deer in the headlights....hoping Huntley passes Boyle quickly....Huntley showed some game when given a chance to start in BAL....just IMO...
I have Huntley/Tannehill in one SF league & just Tannehill in another.

Huntley actually made the Pro Bowl a few years ago, which I was reminded of yesterday. Granted that was probably after 20 guys turned it down, but he’s not awful.

I look at this thread as mostly a work of fiction. Tua is highly unlikely to be done for the year and is already acting like he will only miss the 4 mandated games on IR. Tannehill is unlikely to be signed (he said he would only consider coming back if he can play for the rest of the season for a likely playoff team). And it's unlikely any QB will be able to come in off the street in the middle of the season and put up top tier production numbers. Tua played in every game last year and only ranked 18th in fantasy ppg. It would be pretty unlikely that a guy signed off the street would be a fantasy game changer. Sure, it happened last year with Flacco for the final month of the season, but that was an exception rather than a rule. If it's Huntley taking over, in 10 career starts, his career high has been 219 passing yards and 2 TD. He threw for 5 TD and 6 INT in those games (to go along with 24 sacks and a lost fumble). Never say never, but someone coming in cold and being a top fantasy producing QB would be a major surprise.

Can he keep you afloat in a SFLEX league? Feels like a bit of a desperate option, and the team in my league who picked him up is in that 'desperate' position.

But I don't think he saves Cheetah's or Waddle's value although I can't discount that he could hit on a long TD after buying time.

in a superflex....with bye weeks coming up (I have Mahomes/Goff so weeks 6/5)....being able to snag a guy like Huntley with the weapons he has is almost perfect timing and the difference between getting to play a QB and having to play another position....it may or may not work out....but at least you may have options...

I get it . . . there are limited options that come up in SF leagues. Any points are better than no points, and more options are better than fewer options.

IMO Tannehill has the best chance to be this year’s Flacco. (Though that distinction may well belong to Andy Dalton)

If the Dolphins signed him, it would be the best thing for MIA’s receiving corps.

From the looks of it, Tua is planning on coming back as soon as he is able (ie, after missing 4 games). It's already logistically too late to get Tannehill signed and prepped for this week. That leaves only two more games when Tua will be out. Tannehill has indicated he only wants to come back if he has a clear path to start the entire rest of the season on a playoff caliber team with a top OL. I don't know how much he wants to play for, but the impression I got was he wanted legit starter money to come back or it's not worth it to him (which is why he didn't sign anywhere). MIA only has $6M in cap space. All that rolled together, I don't see Tannehill going to MIA and being their starter the rest of the season. But, sure, he would probably be the best option if Tua missed the rest of the year, and the Dolphins could afford to sign him.

The bolded is why this topic was started clearly as a hypothetical.

Check my parenthetical remarks.
