Donald Brown had a knee scope (1 Viewer)

Ballard's combine profile piece mentions pass blocking as a strength:

His value early on is that he is a big body who is willing to block oncoming linebackers in pass protection, and is also a good check-down option in the pass game who understands how to work up field and pick up first downs after catching the ball.

If you have bye issues or are hurting for a RB then this is a gift considering the oppenents he ahs the 3 weeks he is the starter (if he gets the carries). beyond that who knows and cares . Again you dont start him over a regular stafrter but if your like me and you were starting CJ or Starks this week again its a gift.

I picked Ballard up mainly as defense against the Brown owner and my opponent this week. Both teams are scrambling for RB depth.

Although he has great match up this week, I don't need to start him but I am considering it.

Who will be plugging him in this week? Over who?

Picked up Vallard in an instant. Thanks for posting this.
Got done my lunchtime workout today at work, and checked my email at the gym. Saw Sig's mass email re: Don Brown. As WW processed this morning (and I know you're all dying to know that) in one of my leagues, FA was available. As a Donald Brown owner, picked him up via the iPhone before I even got in the shower.FBG + Smartphone Technology = FF Informational Advantage. Thanks FBG Staff!

I'm not using him this week in lieu of other options, but I think I would if I had to choose between him or Green/Starks (again, only this week until further notice)

I have not seen him play at all so far,and there doesn't seem to be much confidence on this board regarding his abilities. But if he is available and you have space on your roster, I don't see how he is not worth picking up. For 2-3 weeeks it appears ballard will be a starting back on an NFL team. When taking a flyer on a player one of the main things you look for is opportunity. Here it is and you never know what he can do with it.

So was this totally hush hush or something until this afternoon?? I couldve used this knowledge yesterday when waivers had yet to be processed. Now Ballard has been scooped up in all of my leagues.

Yep. I got an email from my brother at 12pm Eastern today saying exactly this, "A guy I work with knows a guy, who knows a girl, who is like Donald Brown's sister, (insert "Did she see Donald pass out at '31 Flavors' last night?" joke) and he said that as of right now, Brown is getting his knee scoped and will be out 3-4 weeks. It's not being reported anywhere." I believed him since it was so random and he's never sent me anything like that before, grabbed Ballard where I could and pulled a few Brown trade offers I had sent out, so at least I'd be ethically in the clear. The CBS report came out about 20-30 mins later. They did a nice job keeping it under wraps.

It was probably kept under wraps since the non-Thursday teams started practice today and needed to report who was practicing and who wasn't.

ETA: why give opponents an extra day to prepare?
