Donald Brown (1 Viewer)

Does Donald Brown have any decent value anymore? He's looked awful in the first two games and Indianapolis can't block for him, nor do they check down to the running back ever

Count me as a Brown owner who remains hopeful, not because of Brown, but because of the offense. I drafted him in the mid rounds knowing he may not produce, but at least the offense looks good. So that's a good sign. I have Ballard so it doesn't matter to me who gets the call as long as the offense keeps looking good under Luck.

I took him as an upside RB3 in a league that I have AP so I figured he'd keep the starting job while AP was worked into shape. Last week he was fine (although benching AP looks stupid now). This week rolled the dice as a Flex, didn't work out that well. I think he'll be a solid RB3/Flex option as long as he holds off Ballard. Wasn't as involved in the passing game but neither was Ballard so if he can get the junk yardage on check downs when the other team is in Prevent defense, his value should still be nice.

I don't think he good at all week 1 or week 2. People glanced at the box score and figured he was OK week 1, he really wasn't. I don't know if anyone can succeed running the ball there right now.

But what more do you want out of an RB3? He got more carries this week and I think they'll lean a bit more on the run game as the season progresses and if he can get 20 touches a game that is pretty solid. I'm always more partial to guys who are RB1's on their team for an RB3 as opposed to an Ingram, Bush, Hillis type who could be relatively quiet if their counterparts go off. I don't think he'll evolve into the RB2 that many of us were hoping he would but still be a solid bye week replacement. Also worth nothing that he faced decent run defenses in Chi. and Min.

He's broke off 5 10+ yard runs behind a weak line already this year. There's really no space for him to run. This week vs the Jags is the week we've been waiting for. I think he will put up RB1 numbers here. He'll be in my FanDuel lineups as well.

I agree he hasn't had much room to run, but that may not matter to the coaching staff if he doesn't start producing. Even though Ballard hasn't done much, they could start giving him more carries just to shake things up.

This week against a suspect Jags team will definitely be a big one for Brown (and his fantasy owners).

Yea I was just saying that for anyone dismissing his talent and not looking at the situation. I don't think anyone on the roster is a threat to him, but like you said you never know with coaches.

I have a feeling Ballard will be the main guy by the end of the season. Just a gut feeling. I think the Colts need a sturdier guy running the ball. I just don't see Brown being the guy for them.

Are the colts even putting brown on the field when they pass? he has no receptions this year and wasnt targeted last week vs the vikings

Exactly. This is his make or break week. Big game and you can sell him at the highest his value will be. If he fails against Jax, then he just sucks and is not worth the spot on the end of your bench.

I took him as my RB3 in a 12 team league, and now with Forte out he's my RB2. Hoping Leshoure breaks out in the next couple weeks because I don't want to end up relying on Brown week in and week out, based on what I've seen the first 2 weeks from him.

I am in a similar situation. Brown has moved up to my RB1/RB2 along with Pierre Thomas. I lost FJax week 1 and Forte week 2. (and I'm still holding out hope for Vereen) Things are not looking good.

Dropped two passes in week 1 that would have easily added 30+ yards to his total. He a hands guys so that was odd.

It would be nice to hear some decent analysis on the offensive line situation and how much it's really effecting the running game. From what I heard they are missing 3 starters on the O-Line, that's got to hurt their run game.

Is it Brown? Is it the Line? Is it more one than the other?

I've seen both games and it looked like it was mostly the line. He would get hit within half of a second of getting handed the ball

Brown wasn't any good the last few years either when he was behind Addai/filling in for him when he was injured.

Well this is his upcoming schedule against the run/DEF (as it sits right now) .... if DBrown doesn't make production in the coming 5 weeks, he truly isnt worth rostering. I'm betting he DOES produce and produce well, as the rookie QB Luck has show he'll throw towards Defenses 40+ times a game without fear. BUY BROWN NOW

Going to add V. Ballard in the event he shows something over the next week or two.
I drafted Ballard to handcuff with Brown just in case. My concern is that while Brown proved himself just enough last year, he's an incumbent and not the new regime's guy. Not that Ballard was necessarily drafted to be the guy, but at least he was handpicked by Pagano and Co.

He looked pretty darn good during the second half of last year.
??He had 2 games of 80+ rushing yards all season & 5 TD's all year (4 Week 8 and beyond).I watch every Colts game (they are my team) and he is mediocre and best and does not deserve to be an outright starter on any team.

But he is and with that comes opportunity. Opportunity leads to points. I drafted him as a RB4 and I'm sure most others did as well. If you were expecting him to be a RB2 then I'm sure you are very disapointed right now. He will have dramatic spikes in his production IMO. That's what you get with guys like him; average talent on a bad team.

I think that touchdown pass he caught against the Rams in preseason is what caused his value to go up, but while I bought in a little bit, I still don't know how the hell he scored on that play.

Good find!

He never had more than 16 carries in any game last year, so getting to the 80 yard mark isn't easy.No one is saying he's a stud by any stretch, but the bottom line is that he averaged 4.8 YPC last year (albeit on 134 carries) on a horrendous team with horrendous QB play. One can play the "take away the 80 yard carry" game, but the numbers are the numbers. So he's probably not as bad as people say, and not as good as some made him out to be. Where he sits on the spectrum remains to be seen, although your comments as a Colts fan are worth taking into some account.

What I like about Brown is that if the Colts run it in for a score it will likely be him.

Gives a +6 upside in any given game, which is nice and reliable from a RB2.

just curious. since Fitzgerald had such a higher ADP is it still a good start for Brown with that +6 theroy. Has little or nothing to do with "who should I start"

I just picked up Vick Ballard. I have been blessed by the fantasy gods this year which means you should all bench Brown. He will either get benched or injured this week.
