Don't check your luggage (1 Viewer)

92 out of 365..... yeah that's about 50%
Fly out Monday - come back Friday. 4 nights per week.

23 weeks x 4 nights = 92 nights

52 weeks - 6 weeks vacation = 46 work weeks

23/46 = 50%

if you are going to be snarky, be better at math.

Bags checked at the gate still go to baggage claim. Only #### like strollers and wheel chairs that get "checked" are picked up on the bridge. Unless tour talking about little commuter planes.
When I flew back and forth to St. Louis last month people were picking up bags on the jetway. The gate attendants specifically noted that they would be there and they were

Yeah they don't go to baggage claim.  I occasionally have to gate check a bag due to a crowded plane and I've always picked it up on the jetway.

I mean....if the plane is too crowded and they ask you to do it, fine. But you just know that some people are going to take advantage and play dumb when their giant "carry on" bag is 20% too big for the overhead

Agreed.  I take a normal size bag but don't fight to board right away unless I have a tight connection.  I'd rather sit in the terminal than in a hot metal tube in a cramped seat.  Because of waiting many times I do have to gate check because others have filled the bins.

So I work 9 in 10, off every other Friday.  I also don't leave on Sundays and return on Thursday or Friday.  Without taking into account vacation that would mean a possible 182 nights a year out (3 nights on short weeks, and 4 nights on full weeks * 26 two week periods).

I had 92 nights out.  Actually well over 50% when you figure I get over 4 weeks of vacation a year.

Seems like @matuski hasn't flown in a while. The days of the free carry on bag are over. Usually $25 to take a carry on. Checked bag is usually free as long as it stays under a certain weight limit.
Seems like you have this whole thing ### backwards.

JetBlue and Southwest are the only two I know of that do not charge for checked bags. And similarly, Frontier and Spirit are the only two that charge for a carry-on

Delta doesn't charge if you have any level of status.  Not sure what it takes to achieve Silver these days, but I'd guess it is pretty easy.  I split my flights with Southwest and Delta, through in the occasional American flight.

Depends on the airline.  Southwest gate checked bags go to baggage claim.  When I've done small planes into towns like Alexandria, LA they are waiting on the jetway.

Each airline is a bit different, and it could also depend on the plane/location that they are flying into.
