Donte Stallworth (1 Viewer)

I won't argue that Stallworth is talented.

But ont he highest scoring team in league history and playing in every game, Stallworth put up 46-697-3 .

I understand that Moss got the TDs and Welker got the underneath stuff . . . but one would think that Stallworth could have had better numbers than that.

His career averages are 50.2 and 0.369 TD per game. That works out to roughly 800 receiving yards and 6 TD over a 16 game season.

How much better do you think he would be able to do above and beyond that?
I would take that in purple and gold in a heartbeat this season!

Despite being the #1 WR drafted in '02, I was surprised...* Stallworth only topped 800 yards in a season once ('05)* Stallworth only topped 60 catches in a season once ('05)* Stallworth only topped 5 TD's in a season once ('05)I was always impressed with Stallworth's YAC of 6.0. His YAC is better than every WR on the planet, with the exception of Steve Smith (CAR).
Those numbers would be an indictment if Stallworth had ever been healthy. Instead, in the context of his health, his talent is indisputable.

Given 16 healthy games as the #1 WR, Stallworth is easily capable of getting 1200 yards and double digit TDs.To use last season as an indictment is as bad as taking his career stats out of the context of his health. He wasn't healthy early in the season. His QB saw a) long to Moss, b) short to Welker, c) outlet is Watson, d) who else is on this team? Half the time Stallworth was open, Brady ignored him, looking for the long TD to Moss, and often threw to Moss even when he was double and triple covered. The problem is, will he EVER be healthy? Therein lies the risk...
I don't remember him being seriously injured this year in NE. I remember he was on the injury report 5 weeks early in the season . . . and those ended up being his most productive weeks if the year.IMO, Stallworth for the most part has been a non factor in most games but then will blow up and abuse a team once in a while. We can dance around the health issue all day, but the fact remains that in 84 games played he's had 13 games with 100+ receiving yards. But he's had 26 games with under 30 receiving yards.Maybe part of the reason he has not done as well is that perhaps he does not run great routes, does not have great hands, and while fast as the dickens has not been able to get open.

He's back.

Patriots agreed to terms with WR Donte' Stallworth on a one-year contract.

The numbers aren't in yet, but it would be a surprise if the contract is guaranteed. Stallworth knows the offense and can provide the occasional presence outside the numbers, but the Pats had already picked up Brandon Lloyd and Anthony Gonzalez in the early days of free agency. Meanwhile, Deion Branch remains unsigned.

Branch is gone IMHO. Stallworth could be a camp casualty, you gotta know that going in. He has some speed and no doubt Brady could hit him in stride...when is the last time Stallworth really had an A-1 QB throwing it to him?Brandon Lloyd will be the WR1/2 with Welker assuming they resign him. Gronk/Hernandez will get there targets 1st...5th or 6th option at best behind Lloyd and Welker.
