I have always tried to mix in some side stuff to keep things interesting, what are some things your league does?
Just to add a couple that we do to start discussion...
1) With the MFL software embedding the Survivor Pool and Pick 'Em it was a no brainer for us to chip in extra at the start in a winner take all in those two contests
2) and also, we have season long grudge bets against the person that drafted right beside you - 1v2 3v4 5v6 etc - winner of the grudge bet is person with best record at end of year
