Betta get my money son!How are the Lakers going to win the division when they can't stop Griffin or Jordan? You got two of the biggest 7ft ####### in NBA history. You can stop that Dwight Howard trade fantasy, the league is watching, no one wants your Laker garbage.Boom!Dude you're obsessed.Clippers up by 2 at half even with a slew of Bull ish calls by refs bailing out Andrew Bynum. This Laker team can't win without ref help!!!Y'all should be embarrassed!

There remains a pretty good chance that the team we're watching right now will not be the team we see at the time the playoffs start. But, assuming that it is for the moment, my hope is that they have figured out the offense by then. If they have, then I think they can challenge in the west. I don't expect them to go far, but who knows?Lakers finally stop the losing streak. I have a question for everyone...what do you hope for this year? They clearly are not the best in the West however I would not want to face them in the playoffs if I were an opposing team. They looked like they might freefall to .500 which would probably not get them in the playoffs. The Clippers are so new that maybe the grind of the season will catch up but what if the Lakers enter as a 6 seed?
I was at the game and Paul was yapping the entire time he was on the court. I think he was just running his mouth too much, and in the episode you're alluding to I think it was actually Kobe who started in with Paul and then Gasol chimed in and it became between those two for a bit.Great game to be at. The Lakers got nice production at the PG between Fish and Goudelock - I'm sure that'll continue the rest of the season. That was all before Gasol's postgame gesture prompted a furious response from Paul, who had four points and 12 assists for the Clippers in his return from a five-game absence because of a strained left hamstring."He touched the top of my head, and I didn't like that," said Paul, who nearly landed with the Lakers last month before the NBA squelched the deal. "You know what I mean. I don't know if Pau's got kids, but don't touch my head like I'm one of your kids. I don't know what his intentions were, like, 'I'll treat him like little Chris.' I don't know if he's got kids, but I'm not one of them."Gasol, who has no kids, insisted he was misunderstood."I'm sorry he felt that way," the Spanish 7-footer said. "I do that all the time with my teammates. Nothing mean about it."
“Pau’s not a patronizing guy,” Bryant told Yahoo! Sports. “I’d do some stuff like that, but not him. That’s just not him.“Chris doesn’t like that stuff. He’s got that little-man complex. I do that to his head all the time. Man, he just hates it. But he’s a tough little [expletive], and he’s not going to let that [expletive] slide, accident or not.”
I wonder how much longer he and Pau can keep that up. Really speaks to the crummy state of the overall roster. Something's gotta give.Great performance from Kobe. Played every second of the 2nd half of a back to back and was terrific. Three point shot was on in the third quarter. 14 rebounds vs Love's 13 too, he always loves doing stuff like that. Good win to get last nights performance out of their heads.
Yep. As we discussed a few weeks ago, I was in favor big minutes for Kobe at the beginning of the season due to several reasons (no training camp, new off/def, new roles, Bynum suspension) but I thought his minutes would be more limited by this point. I'm very reluctant to say Kobe can't do something, but I really don't think it's possible for him to average 38.6 mpg at this age, with this many miles, not even getting into the ligament tears in the wrist.I wonder how much longer he and Pau can keep that up. Well, I didn't like the idea of Morris getting run early - he's so raw and I thought giving him 15-20 games to learn/watch/travel/mop-up would be beneficial. I'm not opposed to him soaking up some minutes as the season moves on if he's showing he's a player. You are correct though - the 2nd unit is dying for a ball handler who can create his own shot. Goudelock has looked better than Morris thus far, so I'm not opposed to giving him a few more minutes in an attempt to slow down Kobe's minutes. I was way wrong about Kapono. I knew his limitations, but I had no idea he had lost his confidence and is scared to shoot. If he's not hoisting 3's, he's beyond useless.I know TGunz doesn't like the idea of Morris playing much this year (and so far TGunz has been right about that), but what about Goudelock? Seems like he's the only thing resembling a legit scorer they have outside the big 3 right now. Kapono is MIA - for better or worse.
It seems like Goudelock took that short time watching Morris get his minutes in a positive way. He's come back more confident and definitely showing the ability to push the ball and attack the paint. That's more than I can say for any other Laker PG the last couple years. That said, the Lakers really shouldn't dismiss going after Arenas right now. They need somebody, anybody who can fill up some minutes behind Kobe and who can stay aggressive offensively with the second unit.I know TGunz doesn't like the idea of Morris playing much this year (and so far TGunz has been right about that), but what about Goudelock? Seems like he's the only thing resembling a legit scorer they have outside the big 3 right now. Kapono is MIA - for better or worse.
Lakers Acquire Gasol From Grizzlies
Feb 1 2008 5:42PM
The Los Angeles Lakers have acquired forward Pau Gasol in a trade with the Memphis Grizzlies, it was announced today by General Manager Mitch Kupchak. The Lakers will also receive the Grizzlies second round draft choice in 2010. In exchange Memphis will receive forward Kwame Brown, guard Javaris Crittenton, guard Aaron McKie (who the Lakers signed earlier today), the draft rights to Marc Gasol and first round picks in 2008 and 2010.
Gasol, a 7th year player out of Spain, is averaging 18.9 points, 8.8 rebounds and 1.44 blocked shots per game this season. The 27 year old 7’0” forward/center has career averages of 18.8 points and 8.6 rebounds. A 2006 NBA All-Star and 2001-02 NBA Rookie of the Year, Gasol also won a gold medal with Spain at the 2006 FIBA World Championships while being named tournament MVP.
“We’re extremely pleased to be able to make this trade.” said Kupchak. “Pau is a proven player of all-star caliber in this league who can score and rebound and he’s still a young player. We feel this move strengthens our team in the short term as well as the long term.”
VERY impressed with Goudelock tonight. I realize it's the Cats, but he's making the right plays, seems to have a good feel for when to swing it, and when to take it off the dribble and create. And I had almost forgotten what it was like to see a PG in a Laker uni making jumpers.
I hope they find a way to maintain Goudelock's PT when Blake gets back. Hopefully such that Kobe doesn't have to play as many minutes. He could be part of the solution for the additional scoring threats they need. He's no PG though.
Not really. You just ignore all the times he sucks "when the chips are down" and sing his praises when he has his 1 good game every 3 weeks.Horrible non-call on the Bynum layup attempt at the end - Nene got nothing but arm. Refs had a terrible night tonight.Great win in a tough environment for the Lakers tonight. The calls didn't go their way but they survived. Andrew Bynum had a great game.
For those who continue to criticize Derek Fisher, he had another clutch 4th quarter, with a key basket, an assist, and some important defense. The guy is slow and can't play anymore and is arguably the weakest starting PG in the NBA, yet when the chips are down he always seems to come through.
Lots of no-calls. But just as many non T's that could've been called on Kobe. He is biching like crazy after every damn thing. The refs are over it. Kobe's days are so done, even the refs are telling him to retire. And your boy Bynum, he's kind of an idiot. What was with him getting in the face of that scrub and getting T'd up? The guy did nothing. I wanted to give him the benefit of the doubt with that clothesline and ####, and youth, but you know what? He's a ##### bag. Tell me you saw him smiling, and pleading with Kobe about something, when they walked off the floor tonight. Kobe wouldn't listen and kept shaking his head, pissed off at yet another thing. I think you're right about some of the chemistry stuff - I don't like some of the body language at times. But "Kobe's days are done"? That makes me think you haven't watched the Lakers at all this year. Kobe's leading the league in scoring, and is 4th overall in PER. Should DWade, DHoward, DRose, and BGriffin retire? B/c Kobe's outplaying all of them this year. I have no problem with his whining last night, the refs were TERRIBLE. The blew 2-3 possession calls, when the Nugs tipped the ball before it went out of bounds, not to mention the hacks that weren't called, especially the last hacket job on Bynum's layup. Dude clipped Bynum in the back of the head, that's why Drew reacted like that. It gets physical down low - we have no idea if there was some extra pushing and elbowing the past couple trips that led to Bynum's frustration. And his outburst consisted of a 5 second staredown. That staredown is the final straw for you with Bynum? Really?Lots of no-calls. But just as many non T's that could've been called on Kobe. He is biching like crazy after every damn thing. Gasol is going through the motions. He won't forget. And why should he? He's got everything he wants already. NOW, he's supposed to be motivated?
Kobe missed a wide open Barnes under the basket late in the game, and Barnes was pissed. Then right after that, Barnes couldn't get the ball inbounds and Kobe, of course, get pissed off at him having to use a TO. Kobe wouldn't look at him as they went back to the huddle.
Then you have Brown, who gets the pleasure of boarding this sinking ship for what? To try and win all these malcontents over with...DEFENSE. Yeah, defense, the last thing a bunch of old, rich, champions (give em that) want to re-rally for.
No need to talk about World Peace and Fish. Thanks for the memories.
The chemistry is so awful here and I don't see it getting better, no way, without a major shakeup. They are TOAST.

As a Laker fan who lives in Denver and therefore has watched J.R. for years let me just say......HELL NO!!!! We do not want the headaches that are J.R. Smith. Even his Chinese club was sick of him after a short while.Any chance they sign J.R. Smith? Would we want them to? :uncertain:Good win last night. Goudelock continues to impress (making me think they shouldn't bother with J.R. Smith).
I'm not going to rebut every last thing, especially because you've exaggerated some of my comments to bolster your arguments. And you are decidedly slanted in your take on all things Lakers, so it's futile anyway. Example: your defense of Bynum's clothesline as being some Aha moment or something. Come on gunZ, that kind of stuff is absurd. Downplaying it (like you just did with last night's T) is one thing, but going so far as to endorse is silly. It makes everybody on here discount anything you say, if they even read it. You're an intelligent guy, don't you want more readers, gb?Take a step back, and just for fun, try and be objective. See what it's like. I don't get why fans think they have to go to the mat defending their team at all costs. Move to Boston. That's for when you're a kid. Getting back to chemistry, I did see that exchange when they were walking off the court. I rewound it, but still couldn't figure out exactly what was being said. My guess is that Kobe was busting Bynum's chops about not going up strong enough on that last layup, and Bynum was letting Kobe know that Nene fouled him. I took solace in the fact that it obviously wasn't anything serious, b/c as you mentioned Bynum immediately started smiling seconds later when he stopped for the interview. Either way, we all know Kobe is an #######, that's not really anything new. I don't know why him being an ####### is suddenly a reason LA can't compete for a title. It's never been a problem before.
I'll say this - after 20 games I'm not confident that this team can go toe to toe with the Heat. I think they can play with just about anyone else, I just don't think they can beat Miami. That being said, we're 20 games into a new offensive and defensive system, and LA still has 3 of the top 20 players in the league, so they can definitely get better. And I'm absolutely certain they're in the market for help, either bringing in another rotation player, or making a big move (Bynum for Howard) that could change this team's course.
IMO, Miami is the clear, undisputed favorite. But after the Heat, LA can play with anyone, and the West is weaker than usual. I'll take my chances, especially after LA makes a move.![]()

Watched the game and you're pretty spot on. After the ejection the Lakers were down something like 5 or 6 pts with about 5 min left. To that point they had been dominating inside with Gasol and Bynum, but of course the bench comes in and does nothing...so with the starters back on the floor it might behoove you to simply go back to the plan ...or plan B have Kobe (and others) go completely insane launching threes from 3 feet behind the line the rest of the game. On a side note, I'm sure Mike Brown will be missing a few games and a large sum of cash after bumping the ref. Please share.
