Draft Challenge (1 Viewer)

If you already drafted and are in a league where you ended up with an odd # of teams because someone backed out last minute and could not find a replacement, I have a proposition for you.

I have always wondered how good a team someone could put together if they were to miss the entire draft, based on trades and free-agent pickups so I am interested in taking up this challenge as 1 of my teams for this season.

If you don't want to have to worry about playing a Ghost Team or Bye weeks or Avg scoring team in your league because of odd amount of participating teams, I am willing to be your last team to fill out your league.

I would only be willing to do this under a few conditions.

1-The league needs to be a redraft league. (I don't want to be involved in future draft pick trades, etc. considering this would more than likely be a one year thing.)

2-I am not willing to pay league fees, loss fees or transaction fees (If you have an odd # of teams already and are ghosting or playing vs the average you already lost that money. I am willing to give my time as be an active owner.)

3-Hopefully the size of your league rosters is 18 or less. There needs to be something out there on the waiver wire. I get to immediately fill out my roster of players that went undrafted in your league.

You will get a real person to fill out your league. I will agree to manage a team all season long, always putting in a valid starting lineup, be active on the waiver wire and in trade talks. etc.

So if you are looking for an owner, I am willing to take on the challenge. PM me to set things up.

...any other demands?
I am just trying to put the terms up front so nothing comes up later on. I don't think they are unreasonable, do you? Or were you just breaking my stones? If you were just breaking my stones, no problem.

no and then.I am just curious how a team consisting of waiver wire fodder would fair and I figured this would be a way to try it out without screwing up a league. A team that has an active owner would be much better for a league than a ghost or Avg score team. I think it would be an interesting challenge and I am willing to give it a try. I see it as a win - win for everyone, I can try something different and a league that fell 1 person short and has to deal with an uneven amount of teams can have that last team managed by an active owner.

The only thing I find unreasonable is the demand to have the first two free agent pickups each week. In a way, that undermines the "experiment" that you are undertaking. You should play by the same rules every other team plays by with respect to the waiver wire.

So, you should look for leagues that use a waiver process based on worst record or fewest season total points and renew it each week. If you truly had a bad team to start the season, then for the first several weeks, you should end up having first pick anyway.

Just my opinion, of course.

I also don't think you will get too many takers with the "I want to pay only for transactions but I want to be able to keep prizes" approach since many leagues don't actually have any transaction fees or they are very small. Of course, I could be wrong about this...

Cool idea, however!!

I think it's a fair proposition except for :4-Waivers - I get the opportunity to pickup at least 2 players before everyone else in your league each week during the seasondepending on how the waiver system was structured it would be too hard to manage...

Yea, I can see your points regarding waivers so I am cool with handling them the same as all the other teams. Regarding the money, if such a team were to win. I am willing to just do it as an experiment too so as long as I didn't have to pay any fees for losses, transactions, league fees, etc. I would just donate my time as an active owner. (I am already behind everybody else and an owner of this type of team would probably just be throwing money away, so as long as it does not cost me anything out of my pocket, I am in.)

Unreasonable? Not since you removed/edited out demands #4 (you get first two waiver picks every week) & #5 (you get to keep any/all winnings ($$)).Seems reasonable enough now...Good luck.

Thanks, you could have just said that earlier. I wasn't sure what you thought were unreasonable since you didn't state it earlier.

:kicksrock: More than reasonable with your editions, and I think it is a very interesting idea. If you actually get to do this in multiple leagues, it has "guest article" for 2008 FBGs written all over it. (If it's only one or two leagues, it could be hard to determine how much of your success or failure was due to unique aspects of those leagues.)

Anyway, good luck with your efforts, and I hope you find yourself several takers.

I'd like to know how you do if you end up in a league. Particularly how you improve week by week could be interesting. Good luck!!
