Draft Chat With our Draftniks Matt Waldman and Sigmund Bloom Tonight D (3 Viewers)

Da'Rel Scott to Giants. Cecil loving that one and I think it's a lot like Carter to Indy and Powell to Jets. Good future opportunity here as Jacobs enters twilight, which I think he will sooner than later.

I don't think Scott is as talented between the tackles as the other two though, but he is worth watching and drafting late for sure.

Da'Rel Scott to the Giants. Interesting destination for him. Great speed. Don't know if he'll push Ware off the roster or threaten Bradshaw.

Think first step is Ware. Bradshaw probably out of the question. Finally glad to hear an analyst comment on qualities I've seen from Blaine Gabbert that all these others were saying weren't things they saw. It was Jaworski - I like that :)

Shane Bannon RB from Yale taken in 7th round. Honestly, know nothing about this guy. Anyone give us a take?
Reading he's a fullback.
Yale fullback Shane Bannon flew well under the radar as a lead blocker in the Ivy League.

However, the 6-foot-1, 270-pounder made an impression at his Pro Day with a 4.69 in the 40-yard dash.

"The kid is a stud," Joe Linta, Bannon's agent, told the National Football Post. "I had never heard of the kid before a coach at Yale told me about him. He's a good lucking kid, catches every pass, light feet and he's blowing up people on the film. He's got some position flexibility, too. He can play fullback or be an in-line tight end."

Bannon registered a 9-3 broad jump, a 29-inch vertical leap, a 4.2 in the 20-yard shuttle, a 7.1 in the three-cone drill and a 12.1 in the 60-yard shuttle.

Last season, Bannon caught a career-high 13 passes for 122 yards and won the Jim Keppel Award as the Yale Offensive Back of the Year.

He played football, track and hockey in high school.

I do love that pick. Remember, both Scott and Carter were at the Shrine Game where I was earlier this year. When a spot came open at the Senior Bowl it was Scott who got the call not Carter. Carter reminds me of Ray Rice with less speed. Low center of gravity, leg drive, determination and instincts. Scott has great speed, doesn't throttle down when changing directions, and is a good receiver too. At the Shrine Game made OLB Chris Carter look like a punk and left him grasping for air in the open field. Would have been a 70 yd TD (it was practice). Runs tough and is willing to run inside, although in college he often looked to use that speed outside. If he becomes a better 'inside/out' runner then watch out.

I love the Jets draft today. They absolutely crushed it.

Powell

Kerley

McElroy (which I called well before the pick on twitter BTW :backpat:)

McKnight

Wow lots of people hating on Newton for a perceived lack of intelligence. Did anyone actually watch the whole segment with Gruden?

In the full segment, Cam diagrams a couple of plays and a couple of things were clear to me: (a) he’s a freak athlete, (b) he actually internalized his coaching quite well, as he remembered all the coaching points and axioms from Malzahn (and Gruden said he retained everything in their meeting quite well), and © he really does have a long way to go in terms of mastering a complicated NFL system.
I've talked to people that were in on private interviews/meetings with Newton....the guys is far from an idiot. In fact, he impressed those who spent time with him going over plays, defenses, and coverages.

The Rams needed a big back who can catch so if SJAX goes down they won't be SOL. Johnny White should have been their pick, Alex Green an option too. They messed up not grabbing one of those two cats. Change of pace guys/complementary guys you can find as priority free agents.

There's a good third down back in Barron Batch. Nice scrappy player. Never a great starter, but a decent all around player who can contribute. Runs tough for size.

Well Carson, AJ Green should make you think twice about retiring... only way I end up putting Jones ahead of him is if St. Louis ends up taking Julio.
When Green had his press conference, I asked him if he had already called Palmer and said 'come on back man!'. Green said no, but he needed to get his number ASAP so he can text him and beg him to come back.He also mentioned hoping Chad Ocho would still be there so he can pick up a few tips.

Yep, you'll have to think that they'll be going after a guy like Sproles.

I like the Locker pick to TEN. He reminds me of Mark Brunell, minus the left hand.
Locker at his very best is a middle class man's version of Donovan McNabb. Talked to many people here at Radio City and nobody knows how to correct his accuracy problems when he's technically sound.

Have you got to break him down much, Wildman? I know next to nothing about him....but over 130 catches in the last three seasons, even in that gimmicky offense, doesn't sound too shabby.Saw he was redshirted. Any idea what the injury was?

I watched him three years ago and recently. He's in the RSP.

TRADE - JAX for Gabbert!
general consensus about his fall is because people worried about him being Matt Leinart or Rob Johnson (must be the hair, right?). Does he love football enough? That was the burning question. Travelle Gaines, who worked with Gabbert at API preCombine told me the kid is very dedicated. Not a surprise that JAX would take him because they may have reached out to TG too. He did work with the team as asst RB coach before. on the field he reminded some in the scouting community of Aaron Rodgers because of his ability to keep plays alive with his feet and the fact that he can throw well on the run. Didn't hear Kiper's comments because I was here in RCMH doing hours of radio, but saying that he doesn't look mobile on film is just wrong. Guy is athletic as they get, not Michael Vick, but a good scrambler for sure.

:lmao:Ponder to Vikes
There are some in the scouting community who I really respect that consider Ponder the best QB in this draft class. He has enough of an arm, stands strong in the pocket and is patient enough to go through his progressions completely. Durability a big concern after surgery on his throwing arm (elbow and shoulder). Some will say he choked at FSU plenty, but at least he goes down swinging. He tries to make plays and puts the responsibility on his shoulders. Ponder needs to stay healthy, but could surprise some.

Havili is a nice pick for Eagles because he can catch and he's a good lead FB. Help this team get tougher and more versatile in short yardage if he sticks.

how fast do the lions run to pick fairley
This is SICK if it plays out. What a turnaround of this franchise. Take him.
Almost illegal having Suh, Fairley, Sammie Lee Hill, Williams, and Vanden Bosch on the DLine. Great move by the Lions. Fairley has problems, sure, but Suh next to him will motivate him to be the best he can be. No resting on your laurels now kid, time to stop taking plays off or sit the bench.

 QB2 on my list.

Am I correct in guessing the signing of undrafted prospects won't be allowed?
not allowed, one of the reasons you've seen PFAs like Scotty McKnight get drafted late....insure you get the guys you want. UFL Draft is Monday, and they're targeting many of the PFAs left over after tonight.
