Draft Dominator (1 Viewer)

Last season was my Draft Dominator and I took my squad from 11th to 2nd (bc of McNabb). I was one of 4 people with a laptop but the ONLY with the TOOL. Now word on the street throughout the 3rd Dimension Buzzhounds 12 team league is Dominators and computers will be prohibited from draft day. Have any of you encountered this and what is your advice on continueing to use these useful tools w/out a computer? FBG's opinion/tips welcome!!

Basically I can understand where they are coming from but since our TD yardage calculations cannot be set on the DD I don't find it as dominating as my counterparts my claim. Utilizing the tools created for a greater FF experience and more in depth coverage is not a crime, more so a commitment by a GM. What I'm afraid of is I think this debate is about as lengthy as debating about abortion.

Print out a cheatsheet that lists the VBD and updated rankings. That's not as good as using the DD but pretty decent still.

and get a copy of players' ADP and use it somewhat as a guide.

Just a heads up... I'm not using this as a personal gain just for me as I will not be the only member to be declined the right to use the DD. That and the fact that I do not have a 1st and 3rd rd pick will keep me mediocre anyway. Just seeing how others are coping. Yeah the ADP and VBD is certainly a viable option. Would there be anything worthwhile to print off your rankings based on personalized DD settings?

DD is a tool, and the best one I've seen so far, but it still doesn't replace doing our own preparation for a draft that will give us the information we need to execute a good draft. Maximizing a draft is a very difficult situation to model on a computer and DD can only get you so close. In short, your draft prep and decision making process shouldn't change because of not having DD. Though if it were me I would do a lot more work and take more printouts as I couldn't double check things as easily without a laptop.

Rather than retype it all, please see my post on draft prep and how it compares to tools like VBD, DVBD, and DD here.

Sounds like a load of crap to me.

Ask if other drafting tools will be allowed --- such as Fantasy Football magazines, downloaded cheat sheets, pens/highlighters/paper, etc.

I'd just drop the league and move on to a more progressive and less draconian league. There are way too many other options in Fantasy Football to be playing in one that you don't like.

Folks oppossed to lap tops and DD at a draft are 1) too cheap or poor to afford a lap top, thus if they can't use one, then nobody should be able to use one, 2) too computer illiterate, not very technology-savey, or too slow/backwoods to be able to figure out how to use a computer --- and thus, if they can't figure out the voodoo of one of those "computer thingies", then you shouldn't be able to use one either, 3) still thinks that cell phones the size of bricks and their VCR are cutting edge technologies, or 4) just total tools.

It's freaking Fantasy Football for Christ's sake. Tell your league mates to lighten up --- I wouldn't care if somebody in my league used frikken tarrot cards to make each pick. As long as he did it in his allotted 2-minutes.

Gotta hand it to Joe and David - for giving the Projections and Draft dominators out for free - seriously classy move by FBGs. :excited:

Personally I like FFTs version a little better ( just preference and blind loyalty I guess ) but you can't beat free.

DING DING DING!!!! We have a winner...

we've decided to only use hammer/chisel/slate.

These writing instruments offer too much of an advantage.

I think this is dumb. All tools should then be eliminated. No books, no newspaper articles, no mags, nothing but your brain

Basis for not allowing DD is bc they think I had the computer draft ever pick for me when actually I had a lot of tough decisions and often used the allotted time designated per pick.

Well fellas here is the VERDICT..... attn. Jason Wood!!

From another GM,

Yes, the Commish did say that he was outlawing any computer programs for Fantasy Football. You will have to talk to him, but he said "I play fantasy football to play against my friends and not a computer program." Those are his words and you are going to have to take that up with him, but if it is put to a vote....I know which way I will vote...thumb down!!!!!!!
