Draft strategy for a 2QB, PPR, re-draft league? (1 Viewer)

Our draft is next week and I was looking for some strategies for our unique league roster/format. We start 2QB, 2RB, 4WR, 2TE, 1FLEX, 2 DEF, 2K. Its also a PPR, with 0.5 pts per reception. All TDs including passing, rushing and receiving TDs are worth 6 pts. Based on this, any suggested strategies? And we have 12 teams in our league....VERY deep league!

QB go fast and often. But the same type of rules apply - Go RB if you draft early, QB/WR if you draft later (say past 9) Having said that, because of the 4 WR start and limited depth, I might be tempted to go, depending upon where I draft, WR, WR, RB, RB, QB, QB, QB/TE. D and K will go a little sooner than the last two rounds also, so you might want to go back to back on them once 5-7 are draftedThat is a big roster in a bigger league. It's going to depend on where you draft and who others pick.

In general, QBs go about 2 rounds earlier than their ADP I would say.

Only pick a QB in the first if you pick at the very end, and perhaps not even then...too many good WRs in PPR.

Stick with VBD and pick a QB after 10 to 12 are gone, then pick , then wait until 20 or so are gone and pick 2 more.

Value in QB usually comes after the run, as there is not as much drop off as are at other skill positions.

Given start 4 WRs and PPR, along with value at RB in 3rd and 4th this season, I might pick 4 WRs and 2 RBs before taking QB in the 6th or 7th. So maybe WR, WR, RB, RB, WR then look at where value is.

I view this different than the others. With 2 QBs and 6 pts per TD, I might very well put Brees and Brady in the top 4 picks.

The reason RBs are so valuable in most leagues is scarcity. The usual 12 team league starts 2-3 RBs (so does yours), so 24-36 RBs start in any week. There being only 32 teams, and much fewer stud RBs in the league, they're worth taking high. Well, in your league (and one I'm in now) you'll be starting 24 QBs every week and you don't have the benefit of a team using a committee at the position.

IMO, there is a bigger drop at QB than other positions - but then, I've been drafting dynasty lately, so my mind may be too much on that.

I see 3 stud QBs, 4 almost-studs, and at most 20 I feel comfortable starting.

I see the same number of stud and almost-stud RBs, but frankly I could start 35 RBs and not be too worried.

You may not want to take a QB top 4, and I won't blame you for feeling that, but I'm going to try to get my 2 QBs in my top 5 picks.

Yeah, VBD with median starter baseline projects out as:

1 QB 1 Drew Brees

2 QB 2 Tom Brady

3 WR 1 Larry Fitzgerald

4 QB 3 Peyton Manning

5 WR 2 Andre Johnson

6 WR 3 Randy Moss

7 RB 1 Adrian Peterson

8 WR 4 Calvin Johnson

9 WR 5 Steve Smith

10 RB 2 Maurice Jones-Drew

11 QB 4 Aaron Rodgers

12 WR 6 Reggie Wayne

13 QB 5 Donovan McNabb

14 WR 7 Roddy White

15 QB 6 Philip Rivers

16 TE 1 Jason Witten

17 WR 8 Greg Jennings

18 RB 3 Michael Turner

19 TE 2 Antonio Gates

20 QB 7 Kurt Warner

21 WR 9 Dwayne Bowe

22 RB 4 LaDainian Tomlinson

23 TE 3 Tony Gonzalez

24 RB 5 Clinton Portis

25 WR 10 Anquan Boldin

26 RB 6 Steven Jackson

27 RB 7 DeAngelo Williams

28 WR 11 Terrell Owens

29 WR 12 Braylon Edwards

30 QB 8 Tony Romo

31 DEF 1 Philadelphia

32 WR 13 Marques Colston

33 RB 8 Steve Slaton

34 DEF 2 Minnesota

35 DEF 3 Pittsburgh

36 TE 4 Dallas Clark

So with 6 pt TD (different than my 2 QB league), I can see an argument for Brees or Brady in top 3 with Fitz.

What is VBD and what are these projections?

No way you can wait to 5th round to start drafting Qbs in a 2 QB league..Last year, 7 were drafted in first 2 rounds...league winner drafted Qbs in his first 2 picks.. Brees with #4

VBD is value based Drafting. they are probably taking the projections from the expert footballguys list. I am in a flex league that includes QB's and I will tell you that the qb's go quickly. there is no way you can wait on qb past the second round. like teh guy mentioned above, 24 qb's will be started each week, throw in the 6 team bye week and that leaves only two qb's on that one week left for pick up. not very exicting. Throw on the fact that you score 6pts for qb TD and Brady, Manning and Brees become the first three picks in the draft. If you select a RB in the first round make sure you get your second QB by the 5th, otherwise there will be no one left. just my two cents

Not sure that I like the league setup....In this league, where you could start 3QBs or 5WRs, I would ignore the RB position for many rounds and then grab as many QBs and WRs and TEs as you can get. With 12 teams, most will have trouble starting 2QBs once the bye weeks hit. You absolutely need 3QBs in this format, preferably one stud QB, one solid QB and one backup that you can rely on for byes or your flex spot. Make sure your 3 QBs are on different bye weeks.....that could be a challenge.I would take Brady or Brees with the 1st pick in this type of league. If Brady, Brees, or P Manning is off the board before your first pick, I would take a top WR like Fitz or Moss or AJ.I probably would only draft 1 RB in the first 6-7 rounds. How many rounds is your draft? I am assuming it's deep (more than 20 rounds)....you probably will want to insure your QBs. Example, if you draft Warner, back him up by drafting Leinart. You always want to have that QB to play in case your starter gets injured....and they do. Handcuffing is a common strategy with RBs....but in this format, it's important to guarantee your QB spots. You may have to sacrifice some RB/WR depth to do so.

:lmao: We don't have PPR for RBs but do for WRs and score 6 pts for all TDs. In our draft we ALWAYS have QBs taken in the first and usually all 12 teams have a QB by the end of the 2nd and draft their 2nd QB by the 5th or 6th.

take it from this 2x regular season champ of my 2 qb league start 12 like this!

qb's go early and often. top 3 will be gone first 6 picks most likly.

top 3 wont get thru me wherever i draw. second tier gone end of third. (maybe second)

think u can beat me. come try. redraft. live draft sept 4 fri night. tradation friday night week before season starts. 3rr. 200 cost with winnings split the way all leagues should be split. aint no excuses missing draft. be there or lose and snooze!

HELL FREEZES OVER in the FFL leagues

come try to knock off this 2x champ. we need some sharks in there. aint no competition for me there! ive cruised thru regular season 2 years straight untouched!

also features KR specialist that gets normal points too as long as he actually touches a kick or punt return. if he dont... u get nothing if he in your kr slot!

This league beats any MFL LEAGUES! Best league on net after mine! Especially now I convinced FFL owner to do away with them ####### BBIDS and change to last to first like all $$$ leagues should be.

Wow, you are either drunk or stupid. Do you realize how many thousands of people visit these boards? Then you pop off with "we need some sharks in there. aint no competition for me there!" You are just another chump in another lame league...get a clue and lay off the hard liquor.

he got lucky then. I have played in a 2 QB league for years and this is rarely if ever the case. You NEED positional players. one guy in my league has a chubby for QB's and he had Romo and Brees last year and he was 6-8. his team was rather solid too with Forte and Witten and a few others of note. You dont NEED to draft your QB's early, but you need to be mindful of runs. I won this lague in 07 and I drafted Ben in the 9th. The dude tossed 30+ that year and my positional players were loaded to the brim. Such is the strategy of 2 QB leagues. However, you do not want to end up with Brady Quinn and jason Campbell as your only two options either.
