Drafting backups (1 Viewer)

Hello there,

i wouldl like to get some thoughts on drafting back ups. It seems that I am one  of a couple in my league that doesn't draft 2 QBs, TEs or DSTs.

i prefer the streaming options out there in the season that I can plug in for a bye or matchup if needed. It works fairly welll most of the time.

However the pool is a bit shallow since most owners are drafting 2 of those positions.

My question is do you take the same approach? Would you try to sway others to draft just one, leaving more options in the FA pool? Or let them be and keep taking advantage of stocking more Rbs or WRs while they grab their back ups?

Thanks

Stock up on WRs and RBs. They are more valuable than adding another QB or TE. You'll have more luck trying to move a RB or WR than you would an extra QB or TE. Let them waste bench spaces on those guys while you add value to your bench.

In a 1 qb league having one qb/te/dst is usually fine. I've made the mistake of drafting two decent qbs/tes and not being able to trade one as people just generally do not value them very highly.

In superflex leagues drafting 3 good qbs can give you a big advantage in trades as some owners will end up with 2 low end qb2s and after a couple of weeks are desperate for a solid qb option.

I don't force a backup QB but if the other owners are taking all the backups to where you will not have a decent choice on the waivers then you get forced into taking a backup if you want a quality option for bye week.  Typically I wouldn't take a backup Defense or kicker but TE and QB depend on how things are going and if there is value in those positions over the RB/WR available at the time of picking.
