Every defense has a blueprint on how to stop the Saints....Drop back and sit in a cover 2 and take away the deep ball. Either they made some adjustments or they'll be competing for the worst record in the league
I have to say, as a Saints fan I am no longer confident in Brees ability to lead to team or, at this point, even complete a simple pass.It looks more and more like the Saints are going to end up a 3-13, 4-12 type team. Everybody blames the defense, but the fault lies entirely on Brees and the offense.
Colston had 4 rec. for 67 yds in the first half. That is also what he finished with.Every time Brees try to throw the ball more than 5 yds downfield, it was picked off. There offense went from "creative and exciting" to "gimmicky & crappy" since the end of last year.
Sean Payton is very creative, but he rests on his work, meaning he doesn't keep moving forward with projects. The Saints offense is running the same plays from last season, and defenses have already studied film of N.O. and have made adjustments and new schemes to deal with it..remember, in 2002 while he was OC for the Giants, Jim Fassel demoted him to take over the play-calling duties...
I guess they should have drafted better. Maybe take Ugoh or Staley to help that pathetic OL instead of wasting a pick on a WR that isn't even good enough to dress for games. I said that guy was a bust back in February pre-draft.
What doesn't seem to be widely known is that Saints LT Jammal Brown is basically playing on one leg -- DEs are blowing by him. RT Jon Stinchcomb has seemingly regressed, being easily beat any halfway decent speed rusher. Stinchcomb was always a marginal talent, anyway -- he'll be due for a replacement next off-season.
I think Brees would do fine with more time in the pocket. He isn't the type to make something out of nothing, though.

FavreCo is dead on. Everyone is trying to figure out what is wrong with Brees. I am not sure anything is wrong with Brees. What I saw last night was one of the worst OL efforts in a long time. There was someone in Brees face everytime he dropped back. We all know Brees has a good but not great arm and I don't think I saw him be able to get his feet set for a throw more than twice the whole second half. He is constantly having to move and slide away from pressure on every play. If the OL does not improve dramatically (I won't even mention the lack of running lanes available), NO will be lucky to win 6 games and all their players fantasy value will become backups at best. Maybe Colston (low #2 WR) and Bush (PPR low #2/3, or flex), but neither will carry anyone's team this season.
Drew Bress was one of my keepers. Needed a bye week fill-in for week 4 so I drafted Grossman who plays the Lions. I also have MJD & Fitz. Needless to say, I am 0 - 3.
