Drew Brees vs. Peyton Manning (1 Viewer)

I was looking through some ADP numbers and noticed something very interesting.

Brees ADP: 11.89

Manning ADP: 21.85

Is Brees really deserving of being picked 10 picks ahead of Manning? If so, why is that? I consider them to be dead even (especially with Brees on the Madden Cover, and yes I am a believer of the conspiracy).

I do. Manning starts losing the eye of the tiger around week 15 or so...

Brees has 9400 yards and 68 TDs over the last two seasons. Manning has 8500 and 60 TDs. Manning may be a better NFL QB, but Brees is without question a better fantasy QB.

Although the stats are correct, don't you see the year that Brees had 5000 yards as an outlier?

They are going so early that it could simply be the two guys that don't draft a stud RB. I mean "everyone" does so I'd have more comfort in saying that there's two guys that could waiver from stud RB in every league and they draft an average of ten spots from each other. To me there's more logic in that than in one being so much better than the other.

I hear ya but Brees+Sean Payton has been a magical combo.

Even if you toss out that season as an outlier... in the four seasons since Brees came to New Orleans (minus 2008), he's averaged 4410 passing yards a year. In the last 4 years, Peyton has averaged 4235 yards a year. In other words, even if you completely throw out Brees' best season, he's still averaging almost 200 more passing yards a year than Peyton Manning. Both QBs have 122 TD passes over the last 4 seasons, too, with Brees having the advantage over the last 2 years (68 vs. 60).Plus, as has been pointed out... in 2009, Peyton is always a threat to sit during the fantasy playoffs because his team has a first round bye sewn up by week 13. I like Peyton a lot, but there's a clear gap in my mind between the Rodgers/Brees tier and the Peyton/Romo tier this year.

Edit: speaking of undeserved gaps and Tony Romo, that's where the real injustice is. Over the last three season, Peyton Manning has averaged 20.58 fantasy points per game. Tony Romo has averaged 21.67.

TY for this. 2 drafts coming up and was considering the early QB strategy. Very useful information.
