You have nobody else to drop? But yeah Cano > Kinsler.
Well I have Tex and I don't plan to drop him yet. I have decided to drop Todd Helton for Cano. I will later on deal one of my 2nd basemen.Calling it now, someone in your league will drop Russell Martin before the end of the weekend...and Mark Teixeria may be available by the end of next week.Dolts.
How many teams are in this league? Helton may be old but if this is a redraft he's off to a solid start. I'd take Cano over Helton but you don't have anyone else to dish? He's got 5 doubles, 2 dongs and always bats for average.Well I have Tex and I don't plan to drop him yet. I have decided to drop Todd Helton for Cano. Roster size? Cano, Kinsler, and Helton should all be rostered.10 teams. I just couldn't part with Kinsler. I thing him an Cano should be top 5 2B. I should be able to deal one.
If you're able to pick Cano off waivers I highly doubt you'll be able to deal him. Others can get him for free now, why would they give up a player later instead?10 teams. I just couldn't part with Kinsler. I thing him an Cano should be top 5 2B. I should be able to deal one.
That's the problem with shallow leagues. There's always free talent on the wire so trade value of everybody gets diminished. I think ten teamers should extend their benches by at least 3 slots so the talent pool is more comparable with twelve team leagues. If you're able to pick Cano off waivers I highly doubt you'll be able to deal him. OK should I drop Jose Reyes?Let's not turn this into the shark pool.Eephus said:How many teams are in this league?![]()
if it's a decision you must make, i'd rather have kinsler. that's true in any league, but since this is a shallow league i'd be even more inclined to go with the guy with the most upside, which is kinsler.the main advantage cano has over kinsler is AVG, which may not be as big of a deal in a shallow league (as you should have fewer BA drains in your lineup). it's also possible that kinsler could post a pretty solid avg. with progression and a more steady role.kinsler's 20-20 ability with upside from there makes him a clear choice over cano in my book.of course, that's based on all things being equal. if you really don't need any speed and need the avg. and rbi, then cano would be the choice.
Not yet but you may want to consider moving him fro Nate McLouth.OK should I drop Jose Reyes?Let's not turn this into the shark pool.Eephus said:How many teams are in this league?![]()
I don't agree with the bolded at all, shadyridr covered a lot of things I agree with him on...but upside? Cano has a lot of untapped power potential still in the tank. For all the upside Kinsler has his peak is probably Cano now with a lower avg and more SB's, Cano could easily be a 30 HR hitter and that offsets any advantage Kinsler may have with his wheels. For now I'd put Cano in every day and look for days when Cano has a bad matchup and Kinsler's up against a righty (more steal opp's) to insert Kinsler. Obviously if you can deal one at some point do it, but as has already been discussed that's not likely.if it's a decision you must make, i'd rather have kinsler. that's true in any league, but since this is a shallow league i'd be even more inclined to go with the guy with the most upside, which is kinsler.

i guess we'll just have differing opinions on this one.cano has had 3 years of major league experience and he's yet to hit 20 HRs (took 620 ABs to get 19 last year).MAC_32 said:I don't agree with the bolded at all, shadyridr covered a lot of things I agree with him on...but upside? It's 10 buddies been doing it for 5 years now. Just like every 10 team league there is plenty of talent in the free agent pool and just like every league someone always panics in baseball and drops players to early. Allot of people play fantasy baseball like fantasy football and it just doesn't work that way. This obviously isn't a big money league.
This obviously isn't a big money league.
From the projections that I used for drafting my players, I had Cano as 2B #5 and Kinsler 2B #6. Statistically I had them like this:
Runs - Kinsler 86, Cano 79
HR - Cano 22, Kinsler 19
RBI - Cano 84, Kinsler 68
Avg - Cano .311, Kinsler .290
SB - Kinsler 18, Cano 5
Using the SGP's for my particular league, Cano was just slightly above Kinsler but I would probably group them both in a tier with Brian Roberts (whom I had at #4).
Of course MY projections are purely speculative in this comparison. But from my point of view, I don't see one player significantly better than the other. I don't think I would drop either one of them for the other quite frankly. As stated previously, I would have to weigh out my teams deficiencies before I would make a judgment on which player that I would prefer. I suppose I like Kinsler's upside that was mentioned earlier.
