Dumb Draft Picks (1 Viewer)

:lmao:   :lmao:   :lmao:

at how many of these teams you guys are mocking for their "awful" picks are probably going to kick your ####.
Really?I got:

Hasselbeck, Brady

Holmes, J. Jones, K. Jones, Anderson, Taylor

Owens, C. Johnson, A. Johnson, R. Williams, J. Smith

Please explain to me how anyone will "kick my ####" with that team?
Did you wait for the other owners to get out of school or did you have them call in their picks during recess?

It was a league with people from my office. We were in an autopick league last year and couple of the people though they knew their s**t because the computer gave them a good team. I, on the other hand, did not get a good team and struggled all season. They decided to do the draft live this year. Guess they will all learn a valuable lesson.

First round at my draft last night.

1.3 Manning

1.6 C-Pep

1.8 MnNabb

1.12 K. Collins

I've been hearing a lot of this lately, 4 QBs in the first round.
If your league starts 2 Qb's that is not that bad. I'd rather have bulger and mcnabb than collins, but not a horrible draft if you start 1 Qb's

Redraft league on Sunday. We start 1 qb, 2 rb, 3 wr, 1 te, 1 pk, 1 def.Same guy, first year in league.Round 1: Trent Green (mcnabb went next pick)Round 2: Marc BulgerRound 15: The kicker from Pittsburgh. (He has a cheat sheet in front of him)he didn't get a RB until round 4, Curtis Marin. He tried to also take Dominic Davis in round 14, he went in round, then tried to get Decue MCallister, round 1 also. Mind you this is round 14, we all start shaking our head.He is going to get pounded, I doubt he comes back next year. But you never know, LOL.His final draft1.08 Trent Green2.03 Marc Bulger3.08 Javon Walker4.03 Curtis Martin5.08 Reuben Droughns6.03 Washington7.06 Muhsin Muhammad8.05 Isaac Bruce9.06 Brandon Stokley10.05 NY Jets12.05 Michael Pittman13.04 Eric Johnson14.07 Jerome Bettis15.04 Mark Campbell15.1 Jeff Reed16.07 John Carney17.04 David Givens

Here's a scenario for you: The 4th round is winding down and Gonzo and Gates have just gone off the board. A shark waits a few rounds for the TE value to come to him. A predictable fantasy owner jumps on Witten. The guy in our draft decides it's time to take Daniel Graham before someone else can steal him!A different owner took Ricky Williams in the 15th. Not too bad until you find out that Ronnie Brown was still on the board. Plus, for two more rounds the guy who took Ricky had the opportunity to do the "reverse handcuff" and passed it up for backup TE and K (when we don't have to carry one).P.S. I couldn't take Brown because I had already gotten C-Mart in the 6th, Barlow in the 10th, and F. Taylor in the 11th! It's an 8 team league, but come on!

In my money league draft last night...McNabb -- #1 overall pick  I nearly pooped my pants when LT2 fell to me at #3.The only explaination is that we all live close to Philly and are all Eagles fans. They guy didn't think Donovan would be back at the end of the 2nd so he grabbed him there. Should've traded down IMO.

2.01 Brett Favre4.05 Ricky Williams (Then the guy dropped him a week later to pick up Pearman! I spent about 3 seconds thinking about picking him up! :excited: )

We just had our draft last night. First 12 picks were:

1 Ladian Tomlinson

2 Shaun Alexander

3 Priest Holmes

4 Peyton Manning

5 Edgerrin James

6 MIKE ANDERSON

7 Willis McGahee

8 Clinton Portis

9 Jamal Lewis

10 Randy Moss

11 Julius Jones

12 Dante Culpepper

Guess which one doesn't belong.

I'm starting to see why some of the people on this board brag about being sharks and winning their leagues every year. However, I won't hate on anyone for feasting on guppy's as I sure wish I was in more leagues like some of these mentioned. My draft this past weekend seemed as if EVERY OWNER was using the Footballguys draft dominator!Best bonehead move I ever saw was 3 years ago when in one league the 12 spot owner drafted McNabb/Gannon (the year he was MVP) back to back in round 1 and 2. And then, wouldn't even trade one of them during the season!

In my money league draft last night...

McNabb -- #1 overall pick

I nearly pooped my pants when LT2 fell to me at #3.

The only explaination is that we all live close to Philly and are all Eagles fans. They guy didn't think Donovan would be back at the end of the 2nd so he grabbed him there. Should've traded down IMO.
who went #2?

One newb took Onterrio Smith in round 13. Amidst a lot of throat clearing, he realized his mistake two picks later and went into a vulgarity-laced tirade. We used the CBS draft board, and our rules state that once a player's name/sticker is affixed to the board, the pick is final. Last year's runner-up brought his girlfriend to the draft this year. He'd tell her who he wanted, and she would place the sticker on the board and announce the player's name. In round 11, we see him whisper a name to her. She slowly makes her way to the board, peels off a sticker, sticks it to the board, and proudly announces, "Jesse Palmer.":crickets: A few guys begin furiously flipping through their cheatsheets and muttering, "Who? Who's that?" It was SILENT in that room for a good 30 seconds. The guy is staring at the board, and as his girlfriend comes up to him, he gets all macho, "That's not who I said." "Yes it is." "No it's not." They begin flipping through their cheatsheets madly. Turns out he wanted her to take CARSON Palmer, who had been drafted about four rounds earlier. They ended up drafting a 3rd QB the next round, but the damage was done. The guy wasn't too happy with me when I informed a few of my buddies, "Palmer's the 3rd string QB for the Giants. But at least if the first two guys gets hurt and he DOES get to play, he sucks."

Sounds like he nearly did...

The team picking at the # 8 slot in our 12 team keeper league selected:Ricky Williams 1.08Larry Johnson 2.05  We keep only one player from the previous year and he kept Trent Green.

He was gloating over drafting Tim Dwight (in the 7th round). He has 2 side bets that the Cardinals defense will be better than the Ravens. He also has 3 other side bets that his team will finish with the better record. People were lining up to bet with this chump...

Barlow BEFORE Taylor? You're right, thatt is Idiotic.

12-team redraft, live draft. I was at 1.03 and wanted Alexander bad. I knew LT2 would be gone and was hoping Priest would go next. Draft begins...

1.01 - LT2

1.02 - With no hesitation at all Corey Dillon

Me:

Commish:  "Are you sure?"

1.02: "Yep!"

Me: :pickle: "Alexander"

This owner has won two of the past five championships....I'm dumbfounded, but happy.

Per the specific rules of this league, Barlow came out ahead of Freddy using both FBG's latest Draft Dominator stats and my own projections. That's fine if you disagree, but thanks for being a forum troll.

My buddy took Randy Moss at #3 overall in a 12 team redraft league. This selection was awful, but he was lucky enough to get Jamal Lewis late in Round 2.

There's one in every league. I sat next to this guy:4.05 Mewelde Moore 5.04 Rod Smith 6.05 Wayne Chrebet

Draft last night:1.08 - McNabb (start 1 QB, 4pts/TD)3.12 - Fitzgerald (WRs still on board -- S Smith, Ward, Burleson, Clayton, DJax, Boldin)4.01 - T Henry6.07 - Vinitieri

The guy with the 12th pick out or 12 teams3:12 Tom Brady4:01 TJ Ducket (his #2 RB)5:12 Plaxico Burress6:01 Stephen DavisHe also got Chrebet, Nick Goings, and Quintin Griffith

My bad guys sorry to leave ya hanging. Cpep has been QB1 3 of the past 4 years. Peyton has never been QB1
In our leagues format CPep actaully out scored Manning last season so it's not completely stupid even though I wouldn't want either for as high as they've been going.

I picked 1st in a redraft that in most years very RB heavy. Start 1QB, 2-4RB, 2-4WR, 1TE1.2 Peyton 1.4 C Pep1.8 Mcnabb2.4 Farve2.5 Gates2.6 T GreenThe first three I can see reason, the second three?I ended up with K.Jones & Westbrook at the turn to go with LT.

Culpepper went 11th in my 12-team draft...one spot ahead of Manning.
C-Pep went 1.5 ahead of Manning in my 12 team redraft league. The drafters in the league are usually quite savy. C-Pep did slightly outscore Manning last year in our league scoring system (4 point per passing TD, 6 point per rush touchdown).

The worst was one guy in my 10-team keeper league drafted 4 kickers...some fairly early. He said, "People are going to want kickers and I"m going to trade them later in the year." It was the first time I ever witnessed the STUD KICKER THEORY. Has anyone else ever seen it?

We used to have a guy in 8 team league with limited roster spots who would hoard kickers and backup TEs thinking they were trade bait. Our very first year of that league he dropped rookie Jamal Lewis for a kicker. I picked up Lewis and he helped me win the championship. Needless to say, the guy quit our league.

This was a couple of weeks ago - same guy made all of these picks:(he had 8th pick of 12, 5passtd, -2int, 40yds; 6rush/rectd, 10yds)(start 1qb, 2rb, 2wr, 1flex, 1te, 1k, 1def)round 1: C. Martin (a TAD early)round 2: Gonzo (uh, yeah)round 3: T. Greenround 4: Davenport (sure, we're in WI, but he's a MO homer)round 5: baltimore Dround 6: Mike Anderson (this was pre-starting)round 7: Vinatieriround 8: Givens (his FIRST wr!)round 9: Alstott (isn't he retiring?)I'll spare you the rest. And the guy seemed to know what he was doing. We all chuckled after his picks, and he said that would come back to haunt us all. He talks more smack than all of us. Maybe he knows something we don't...um, no.

Some of these picks are bad, but many of them not.Just because someone doesn't follow the consensus 100% like most people do doesn't mean they are wrong.Golden Rule:If someone takes a player that possibly wouldn't be available for their next pick it is not a bad pick.

(start 1qb, 2rb, 2wr, 1flex, 1te, 1k, 1def)

round 1: C. Martin (a TAD early)

round 2: Gonzo (uh, yeah)

round 3: T. Green

round 4: Davenport (sure, we're in WI, but he's a MO homer)

round 5: baltimore D

round 6: Mike Anderson (this was pre-starting)

round 7: Vinatieri

round 8: Givens (his FIRST wr!)

round 9: Alstott (isn't he retiring?)

I'll spare you the rest. And the guy seemed to know what he was doing. We all chuckled after his picks, and he said that would come back to haunt us all. He talks more smack than all of us. Maybe he knows something we don't...um, no.
It sucks how often people get lucky like his Anderson pick. Last year we had a person who didn't pick a TE until her last pick of the draft. She looks at her magazine and says, "I don't even know who this Gates guy is, but I guess I'll take him." There were two of us sharks who abandoned our 'wait for Gates late' strategies because Gonzo and Winslow fell to us. This was a total kick in the balls once the season got going, especially for the guy who took Winslow.

These are stretches more so than bad picks. 16 team league. Jamal Lewis at 1.5, Barlow at 2.12 and Mike anderson at 3.5 all to the same team. Brady in round 3 and Bledsoe in round 5 went to the same team (start 1 qb league). Vick at 2.5.
