Um, wat?I'm really surly on Kinsler after last year. It's going to be tough for me to take him again.
In my two points leagues, he finished 6th and 7th and he absolutely disappeared for about 6-7 weeks in Mid June through July. Not sure about you, but it wasn't what I was looking for.Um, wat?I'm really surly on Kinsler after last year. It's going to be tough for me to take him again.
Dude went 30/30 as a 2B. Doesn't get much better than that. Batting average was low but his BABIP was a bit below par so that should improve. As far as disappearing for several weeks, most players are going to do that at some point. Also, see the BABIP comment above. He was somewhat unlucky. The answer to the poll is Kinsler and it isn't even close. In my two points leagues, he finished 6th and 7th and he absolutely disappeared for about 6-7 weeks in Mid June through July. Kinsler without a doubt. He could very well be batting 5th behind Vlad, with Cruz and Davis batting behind him. Pedroia bores me. I won't own him. I'd rather wait a round and take Brandon Phillips or Cano.
For any 5X5 leageus, it's a no breainer. Point leagues, not so muchDude went 30/30 as a 2B. Doesn't get much better than that. Okay, so how is it not in a points leage. Serious question. I don't play those. I can understand consistency being important in a H2H league - though I still think you're pretty much wasting your time trying to predict that - but don't see the importance for howI think a points league works. If Kinsler is the highest point scorer (or close to it) what difference does it make when in the year he's accumulating the points? For any 5X5 leageus, it's a no breainer. One of my poitns leagues is a weekly H2H, so it certainly matters there. But regardless, last two yearsLeague 1 (more geared towards rewarding OPS)2009Perdroia - 619Kinsler - 5982008Pedroia - 700Kinsler - 618League 2 (1 point for each H,R,RBI,SB,BB)2009Pedroia - 471Kinsler - 4512008Pedroia - 491Kinsler - 415I'll also point out that last year's 144 games was a career high for Kinsler.Okay, so how is it not in a points leage. So I should jsut disregard the fact that Perdroia's outscored Kinsler in back to back years? Or that Kinsler is injury prone?Help me out with the flawed logic I'm showing.Points league does not equal h2h. Kinsler is a much better points play than Pedroia. It is also silly to hold a grudge because the kid had a slump in the middle of the year. But hey, knock yourself out...
I've got Kinsler at 3 pts more than Pedroia last season in 36 fewer games played.Furthermore, I have Kinsler at 4.23 PPG in 265 games over the past two seasons. Pedroia checks in with 3.83 PPG in 311 games. If you want to say Kinsler is an injury threat and you prefer the "safer" option in Pedroia, that's fine. I guess you'll take 0.4 points less per game in exchange for those extra games played. I'll take the chance with Kinsler and use a replacement value player for the few weeks he may miss. I'll still come out ahead. H2H.So I should jsut disregard the fact that Perdroia's outscored Kinsler in back to back years? I agree with you but based on the points he showed above his scoring system must reward hits or high OBP players. Still, Kinsler was close both years even though he had far less plate appearances.RockNRolen said:I've got Kinsler at 3 pts more than Pedroia last season in 36 fewer games played.Furthermore, I have Kinsler at 4.23 PPG in 265 games over the past two seasons. Yeah, that must be the case.I'm using what seems to be a fairly standard points set-up for my number: 1 1B, 2 2B, 3 3B, 4 HR, 1 BB, 1 Run, 1 RBI, 2 SBI agree with you but based on the points he showed above his scoring system must reward hits or high OBP players. You have to assume you'll be starting a fill-in a second base for the games Kinsler is out. So you have to look at Kinsler + backup 2B v. Pedroia. That's fine in the straight poitns league. Not sure it's the course of action I'd want to take in the weekly H2H points league. You have to assume you'll be starting a fill-in a second base for the games Kinsler is out. Let's play the mid-June JUMP! to conclusions game.Kinsler's been a ### ####ed disaster.I ended up taking Pedroia over him in the points league, but that draft was after he got hurt in the pre season. Glad I did.

Or maybe not. Has Kinsler even started baseball activities? They'll probably be back around the same time. It will be interesting to see how this plays out.
