Dwayne Bowe still unsigned (1 Viewer)

According to the Kansas City Star, Dwayne Bowe's contract negotiations with KC are moving slowly due to the fact that Bowe and Jamarcus Russell have the same agent (who is putting more attention on Russell's negotiations rather than Bowe's). Do you guys remember anything like this happening in the past? So, in reality, the Chiefs and Bowe have to suffer b/c his agent is not putting in the time for negotiations huh?

Also, word is that he might be waiting on Quinn to sign, which maybe higher than a normal #22, as leverage.

Guess he needs to get himself another agent since it appears he's getting put on the back burner.

that (Quinn) signing could take forever . . . meanwhile Bowe is missing out on valuable camp time . . . this is one of those things that could hinder Bowe's development for a long while . . .

Probably what his agent is telling him while he works hard with Russel.

I always wondered why these guys didnt think of the fact that missing camp as a rookie really sets them back; especially considering his case b/c KC has been looking for a WR for years now, finally draft one who "can" start opening weekend as long as he knows the offense. This only hurts him, and I have no idea why soooo many players continue to do this year after year.

Bowe is not missing anything. It's not like he is going to catch 35+ balls. He's going to block for herminator's running game.

Despite everyone else's opinion, KC threw the ball quite a bit last year. Whether LJ plays this year or not, they will still throw the ball. They threw the ball when Herm was in NY, so why has that all of a sudden changed?

Because injuries happen in football. I see no problem getting as much as possible when your career can end at any time.

It's probably to their benefit to hold out. If they get an extra $1.5 million guaranteed by holding out a bit, how can you blame them? Yes, they could get a disappointing second contract due to their reduced performance, but that's not a given, nor is it a given that they'll make it to a second contract uninjured and still in the league. The only thing they can rely on is the guaranteed money they receive. I can't blame them for trying to get the most possible.

Yes, it looks like he has signed. The lengthy negotiations may be because his agent was busy with JaMarcus or maybe its just the Chiefs, once again, trying to be hard azzed in their negotiations. It won't be long before rookies will dread being drafted by the Chiefs. They have a long history of low-balling contracts.

This is a classic case of a reporter making too much of nothing. He read way too much into that. This is why you really have to remember that these guys give opinions more often than facts. So buyer beware when it comes to these reporters.
