DWill signs with Carolina (1 Viewer)

Didn't see that coming.

If I were GM of a team with shaky running backs, I'd definitely be ringing up the Panthers to see what they'd want for Goodson.

so what dwill and stewart have done in the past together is completely being ignored now?

:coffee:
I think everyone is remembering what they did together in the past with an incompetent rookie QB.
fixed. food for thought, stewart was likely going to be part of an RBBC regardless if dwill stuck around or left. dwill hasn't put together a full season since 08.

i think the off season / lockout lack of info had the expectations running rampant. it's time to come back to earth.

the wheels came off last year, between OL & RB injuries (possibly related) and horrific QB play (i actually think newton is a big upgrade over claussen, IMMEDIATELY)...

but just two seasons ago, stewart finished RB11 (16 games) and williams RB14 (in just 13 games)... they were the first RB duo in NFL history to both rush for over 1,100 yards, and had 10 & 7 rushing TDs, respectively...

for those looking for a return of deangelo's RB1 finish in 2008 this is no doubt a disappointment, but they have proven they can co-exist statistically for fantasy purposes... if things broke right, and health permitting, both could come close to RB10 status based on 2009 (not sure about this year, but in dynasty that is less of a concern)...

since both have injury histories and it is unclear if they could withstand the punishment of a bigger role individually, this could be better in the long run if it extends their respective careers, and keeps them both healthy in season...

* if williams had played 16 games in '09, his prorated scoring would have been around RB7... presumably, stewart would have been bumped down a bit if used less in those 3 games deangelo DNP...

it is unclear how the new staff will divide the carries, but it is very doubtful they paid williams that much for a 50/50 split of carries...

well said bob.

I'm relieved. They both would have cost me 'middle round' draft picks with value...now I can concentrate on other RBs to grab in the middle rounds.

I am happy though for WIlliams and his family. Guy is quality, good family man, and I still root for him, just wish he had signed elsewhere in a high octane offense.

You can never blame a player for taking the money and Carolina paid the man what he was worth. Williams is happy, that's for sure.

I wouldn't yet. McGahee is out there and I would not be surprised to see Denver bring him and give him a chance to start.

Which means it does not happen often at all :( . And now they are both older on a team going through big changes.

Last year when Richardson was getting his roster prepared for a looong lockout a couple of Panther fans chimed in about how the guy didn't like to let go of his popular players. No matter how much it helped the team in the future.

I have been kinda monitoring his deeds and statements since then and you know what? They're right.

Sucks for Smith too as I think he's gonna have an impossible time getting out. It's gotta be tough going into the homestretch of your career as a ticket sales tool and not have a chance for a ring.

Doubt that would be the case. At this point in careers, I could see Moreno being the guy outside the red zone; catching passes and used there...And then McGahee comes in and steals the TDs. Much like how he was used in Baltimore, actually.

Folks, it is ENTIRELY possible both DWill and JStew can be successful in a fantasy or Dynasty set up. 2009 is a perfect example. They were both VERY productive:

JStew - 1100+ yards 11 TDs

DeAngelo - 1500+ yards 18 TDs

If they can both stay healthy, this could be the scariest duo. Too many RBs these days are wearing down too fast simply b/c they are logging a ton of carries. This is will not be the case with DWill and JStew... Just a Panther fan trying to put a positive spin on things...

imo, DWill was much more of a threat to steal the top RB job from Moreno than McGahee.Of the 2 hypothetical scenerios :1. DWill1a. Moreno1. Moreno 1a. McGahee

The key will be if they can BOTH stay healthy. When DWill and JStew are healthy is when they are BOTH more productive in my opinion... :boxing:

It ENTIRELY depends on the HEALTH of Jeff Otah.(period)

 Richardson has let go of several popular players in the past. As for DeAngelo, he wanted to be resigned.
