I doubt it.I'm surprised that playing in bowl games isn't a requirement of the scholarship.
It soon will be, I'd guess.
The first college that tries to enforce that can forget about getting any more 5 star recruits.

True. Would the NCAA maybe require it?I doubt it.

No need to pay back the scholarship...just suffer one of those "I already made plans for pro bowl weekend" type injuries before the bowl.True. Would the NCAA maybe require it?
And anyway, if I'm a player that would sit out a game I would have no problem paying back a scholarship anyway so it doesn't really solve the problem.
Yep, nothing a self-reported concussion couldn't handle. No need to pay back the scholarship...just suffer one of those "I already made plans for pro bowl weekend" type injuries before the bowl.
Impossible to mandate attendance at games nobody cares about.
I still don;t see how it's that different. Agree to disagree I guess. If you think it's smart for McAffrey to sit out his bowl game, you should also think Terrel Pryor should sit out week 17 vs the Steelers. Pryer proved what he needed to this year and stands to make good money if he doesn't get hurt in that meaningless game.As others have said, its an apples and oranges scenario youre talking about.
He is weighing the risk and reward and trying to mitigate as much of that risk as possible. Idk where you are getting this top 10 pick idea from. There is nothing he can do in a single game that will make him a top 10 overall pick. He likely isnt a first round guy in any scenario. But round 2 versus a later round due to injury or a horrific performance is a pretty big deal.
If Pryor blows out a knee, he can sign a one year prove it deal. He can NOT sign, and still be a free agent. If he proves himself, he makes big money NEXT year.I still don;t see how it's that different. Agree to disagree I guess. And the hits keep coming. Chubb, Freeman, Mixon(?), now Hood. 2017 draft is getting less attractive every day. This is one name away from being 2016 again.UNC junior RB Elijah Hood will return to school for the 2017 season.
Hood will sit out the school's bowl game due to medical reasons. Some might characterize Hood's 2016 season as a disappointment compared to 2015, only topping 100 rushing yards in two games and amassing 858 rushing yards and eight touchdowns on 145 carries. He did improve as a receiver, almost doubling his catch output over the last two seasons. UNC will now wait on Mitch Trubisky's decision, along with quarterback transfer Malik Zaire's. You said it. Thinking the same thing. The depth of this draft is taking a huge hit. Although I do think it will be a lot better than 2016. 2016 was the worst rookie draft in years. And the hits keep coming. The Sporting News' Eric Galko reports that Wyoming junior RB Brian Hill will forego his final season of collegiate eligibility to enter the 2017 NFL Draft.
Hill will join 2017's monster-class-to-be at the position. He is fresh off a 2016 campaign in which he rushed for 1,860 yards and 22 touchdowns over the course of 14 games. In mid-October, Draft Insider's Tony Pauline noted that the 6-foot-1, 220-pounder is a "bigger back who can handle a lot of carries," one who "should do well as a rotational ball carrier on Sundays." Hill figures to be a Day 2 selection come spring 2017, assuming the glut of running back talent in this draft doesn't swamp him down to Day 3.

To me what made 2017 so special is the depth at WR, and TE. At the RB position you still have Cook, Fournette, McCaffrey, Hill, Foreman and a few others so my board hasn't changed too much. You said it. Thinking the same thing. The depth of this draft is taking a huge hit. Although I do think it will be a lot better than 2016. 2016 was the worst rookie draft in years.
Great article, love the TE ranking and they actually have a few on there that others don't have even though one is still missing.

Wish more Jr's that were expected to declare declared (James Washington, Chubb, etc.). I was ready to flip my 2017 1st's for 2018's.2 things are said about rookie drafts:
1) This year is deep, but not top heavy
2) Next year will be awesome!
Every year, it's the same thing. This board has ADD.
Washington???? What I miss?Wish more Jr's that were expected to declare declared (James Washington, Chubb, etc.). I was ready to flip my 2017 1st's for 2018's.
I believe this draft is top heavy but not deep, at least in single PPR. TE premium leagues it's going to be a little bit deeper.2 things are said about rookie drafts:

Washington State senior WR Gabe Marks accepted an invitation to the East-West Shrine Game.
Marks could have jumped to the draft last season, but decided instead to return to the Cougars for one final season of collegiate fun in Pullman. In 12 regular-season games, the prolific wideout (he is the all-time Pac-12 receptions leader) logged an 85-867-13 receiving line. Those 2016 numbers are respectable enough, but represent a step down from the career-best 104-1192-15 line he posted a year ago. A vacuum out of the slot, Marks figures to hear his name called some time on Day 2 or Day 3 of the spring draft. He will wrap up his season with a Holiday Bowl appearance against Minnesota before he begins the draft process proper.

No shock there. I mean who wouldn't???
Translation......."i prefer not to play in Cleveland"

Exactly. Nothing like being obvious that you don't want to play for a loser. Hate to tell him that he is going to play for a loser barring a trade up by some other team. Both CLE and SF are losers because they have no QB of the future.Translation......."i prefer not to play in Cleveland"
They will end up helping each other's draft stock for 2018. Probably a decision they made together which is a great move.

Mason Rudolph and James Washington make it official.
The duo is returning for the 2017 season.
Louisiana Tech junior WR Carlos Henderson will declare for the 2017 NFL Draft, according to Tony Pauline.
Louisiana Tech will lose its top two receivers. Henderson totaled 82 receptions for 1535 yards and 19 touchdowns while averaging over 32 yards per kick return. Henderson is a sub-6-foot receiver, so it is unlikely he will be a first round prospect, but second day status is possible depending on workouts.

Not as high on him as I used to be, he looks more like a possession receiver.
So these guys are given a 90 minute shopping spree to spend $450 and he gets caught shoplifting?Faust said:
