[Dynasty] 2018 Draft Class (1 Viewer)

Scratch Gaskin from your draft boards:

Washington junior RB Myles Gaskin will return to school for the 2018 season.

The Seattle Times' Adam Jude passed along several days ago that the 5-foot-9, 192-pound Gaskin was leaning toward a return to the Huskies over entering the NFL Draft. That has now come to pass. The junior back has topped 1,300 yards rushing in each of his first three campaigns in Seattle, most recently ending the 2017 season having rushed for 1,380 yards (6.2 YPC) and 21 touchdowns. The Huskies lost DT Vita Vea to the draft this winter, but outside of that, they are one of the clear winners from declaration season -- in addition to Gaskin, QB Jake Browning, T Kaleb McGary, DT Greg Gaines and S JoJo McIntosh all opted to keep the band together.

It also sounds like Bryce Love is returning to Stanford instead of declaring for the 2018 NFL Draft:

Bleacher Report's Matt Miller passes along that "people at Stanford think [redshirt junior RB] Bryce Love will stay in school and not declare for the draft."

Love (5'10/184) is one of the few big draft-eligible players yet to announce his intentions. We'll find out soon enough one way or another -- today (Monday) is the deadline for underclassmen to declare. Love's return to Stanford would not only shift some draft boards, it would be an obvious boon for the Cardinal, particularly given that conference foe Washington is returning a number of draft-eligible pieces for the 2018 season. Love rushed for a Stanford-record 2,118 yards and 19 touchdowns during the 2017 campaign.

A two round mock in January, love it.

This Matt Miller does good work. As an example he had Michael Thomas rated as the #1 WR the year he came out, Kamara as a top 30 player, etc, etc.  If you are still paying attention to guys like Kiper over him you are doing it wrong.

That being said I'd hate to see the NFL draft go like this mock. Not enthused about landing spots for Ridley, Guice or Ronald Jones.  Sony Michel would have hit a homerun spot.

And I understand it's silly to some degree to look at mock draft landing spots but it's one of the ways I try and prepare and value draft picks and it's also just fun. I like to look at mocks and see how I'd value certain players/picks if this held true. Got nothing else to do.

Yikes Harris, Love Gaskin, Weber, LJ Scott, the depth of this class is taking a beating.  Time to buy 2019 1sts!
I don't think Love returning is official yet.   Why is Weber returning, he was beaten out by Dobbins?  Harris returning and Love (if it becomes official) are the only two from that list that matter IMO.

Weber is a bit of a mystery but they had a bunch of guys return - all of their borderline guys are.  There was speculation that up to 10 or so could go but only three ended up going.  Seems to be an "unfinished business" to it.

Again, I read that Love returning isn't official, only rumors.  Have you read somewhere that makes this official?

Deadline was today, so in the absence of a declaration, he's back.

Since Love is returning, who do you like in devy drafts between Bryce Love, J K Dobbins,  and Jonathan Taylor?

Dobbins by a mile, mostly because I am a raging Buckeye fan, but you need to have Cam Akers on there too.  Akers >= Dobbins >= Love >> Taylor = Weber.  I don't see anything particularly special about Taylor and I think a lot of guys could have matched his productivity there.  Slight edge to Dobbins over Love due to age and wearing the proper shade of scarlet.

I like Dobbins as well and prefer him over Akers,  but it is close.

I kinda want to too but it feels like my homerism would be doing that and not my evaluation and I'm concerned by the long speed - he got caught from behind 2 or 3 times in the B1G Championship.

He has enough speed.  I've seen Elliott caught from behind as well as Fournette.  Hopefully RBs bring more than just straight line speed to the table.

Yesterday was the last day to declare, but the official list won't be released until Friday.

According to this list, staying in school are:

RB: Bryce Love, Damien Harris, Myles Gaskin

WR: David Sills

QB: Drew Lock, Will Grier, Jarrett Stidham, Ryan Finley, Clayton Thorson

There are also some missing names, like RB Mike Weber, who aren't yet on either the "declared" list or the "staying in school" list.

I don't ever recall EZE being caught from behind at OSU.  Ever.  And I watched every moment.

Draft Analyst's Tony Pauline relays that San Diego State TE David Wells has been "dominant in his blocking" during East-West Shrine Game practices.

If Wells is to crack an NFL roster either late on Day 3 or as an undrafted free agent, it's going to be because of his advanced blocking skills. The 6-foot-2, 255-pounder did log a respectable 25-294-4 receiving line for the 2016 season, but his appeal does not come in his pass-catching prowess. For this reason, settings like that of the East-West Shrine Game are crucial for Wells -- they allow him to showcase his blocking skills in isolated situations with eyes on him.

LSU RB Darrel Williams accepted an invitation to the Senior Bowl.

In college, Williams found himself behind a pair of prodigies named Leonard Fournette and Derrius Guice. When given a chance, though, the former four-star recruit showed next-level ability. The 6-foot, 232-pounder rushed for 820 yards and nine touchdowns on 5.7 YPC this fall, adding 23 catches for 331 yards. He's in a battle with a handful of runners in this deep crop to get a Day 3 call. Big, versatile and coming in without a lot of wear on his tires, we'd expect him to get one.

That mock doesnt have james washington going in first two rounds....or chubb.....has the ff community over rated them?

The guy who did that mock tweeted out back in middle of November he had him ranked as a middle second round player so he's probably not really down on him so much as this is just the way the draft worked out. He does often say he bases his mocks on what he hears, his Big Board(which is only 32 deep last I saw and did not have Washington) is based on what he scouts.

ETA-I just saw you noticed mentioned Chubb as well as Washington and my response above was only for Washington.

I think in Chubb's case he's not going to be a top 5 RB drafted in the real NFL draft so maybe so but I'll likely be a lot lower on him for FF then where he is drafted relative to other RB's. I'm not a big fan for FF. He and Penny seem to be the two RB's I value less than other people in FF.

I have seen a lot of analysts not like him.  I am tending toward "yes".
The mock above has Washington #41 and the 4th ranked WR.  While I wouldn't have any problem ranking a couple WRs above him, but Auden Tate?

Listed at 6 foot 4 225lbs. Averaged a td like every 4 receptions and fsu was horrible at qb play. Ive seen dj moore wr from maryland mocked in front of james Washington as well. Maybe this wr class isnt so bad and there is some depth to be had.. seems some people think jamed washington isnt a first round lock. Cant wait for the combine !!!!

I really like Washington but I’ve seen wild fluctuation as to where he will go.

Oklahoma State QB Mason Rudolph will miss the Senior Bowl due to a left foot sprain.

That's the bad news. The good news is that the injury does not require surgery and will heal with rest. Despite the injury, Rudolph will attend the event for the purposes of taking measurements and conducting team interviews. It's an unfortunate turn of events for a polarizing prospect who conceivably could have shot up boards with a huge week. The 6-foot-5, 230-pounder is tremendous with the deep ball but can maddeningly struggle with accuracy to the intermediate sector of the field. Rudolph was a wildly prolific collegiate quarterback, throwing for 13,618 yards with a 92/26 TD/INT rate on 63.2 percent completions.

ESPN's Mel Kiper projected Wyoming QB Josh Allen to the Browns at No. 1 overall in his first mock draft of the season.

Kiper adds he has moved Allen up to his No. 1 quarterback in his rankings, saying Allen finished the season strongest among the group. More importantly, Kiper adds all of the quarterback prospects have warts, but he tends to side with Allen due to his high ceiling. This will change over the next few months, possibly 10 times. Thankfully next week's Senior Bowl will give us a few answers.
