[Dynasty] 2019 NFL Draft Class (3 Viewers)

Is there a consensus top RB or WR in this upcoming draft so far?
I don't think there is a consensus yet. The combine, pro days, and the draft itself will help to sort some of this out though.

For me personally at RB it's David Montgomery from Iowa State and WR Kelvin Harmon from NC State.

Harmon is possibly my least favorite "top" wr in this draft

Same here. I think Finley is making him look like a top prospect. Yeah he's good but I got at least 5-6 guys ahead of him. Harry, Metcalf, Butler, m. Johnson, Ridley, AJ Brown right off the top of my head.

Harmon is better than Metcalf.  I like this video from pro football focus.  They don't mention Harmon or Metcalf in the top 6.  I personally would have put Harmon over Deebo.   Good video however.  . https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WOfRzjPGc9k

I'll agree one thing about the two. Harmon is more ready to step in to a starting, run routes and produce as an NFL receiver and also is a far less risky pick but if Metcalf reaches his full potential, imo it's not even close.  Harmon is safe, Metcalf is a jackpot. The guy is a freak. It's like Brandon Marshall with speed (almost exact same size). Among other things, if he could harness Marshalls ability to come back to the ball to create separation (not sure why this is not taught) (you see it at 1:53 of that clip) (1:41 of this clip) and gain yards on passes other receivers don't. Never seen other receivers attack the ball as it comes to them like he did. Marshall imo is a HOF receiver partly because of what he has overcome and done for the game itself as far as bi-polar disorder.

I do not like Harmon's body catching. Evident at 4:42of this video. Man, that was awful. That should not get to his body. He tried to basket catch it in his gut. Hands should be out grabbing the pass. He clearly can catch passes away from his body very well from what IO can tell. When they are right at him he doesn't reach out all the time and catch them. I'm not against him but I really don't like that. He's the kind of guy I hope goes to BUF, JAX or TEN so I can totally ignore him.

FAU junior RB Devin Singletary ran 23 times for 88 scoreless yards in Saturday's 27-24 loss to Charlotte.

Singletary was unable to get much of anything going in this one as his longest run ended up only being 15 yards. With the team finishing at 5-7, this will be the end of his season. A down year for FAU led to the demise of Singletary's rushing output and he'll end the season with 1348 yards and 22 touchdowns on 261 carries (5.2 yards per carry). Singletary said he won't announce his decision to enter the draft or stay for another year until after the season is over, so we can expect the news shortly. He would be one of the top running backs in an underwhelming 2019 draft class.

Nov 25 - 10:32 AM

Toledo redshirt senior WR Cody Thompson accepted an invitation to play in the East-West Shrine Game.

Thompson has battled health issues, but when he's been able to play, the 6-foot-1, 205-pound wideout has performed well. He scored 10 touchdowns this year on "just" 43 receptions, and he had a 64/1,269/11 line in his redshirt sophomore season with Toledo. With his size and quality hands, he could be a red-zone threat, but he'll have to test well if he's going to get the opportunity at the highest level.

Washington State senior QB Gardner Minshew has reportedly accepted an invitation to play in the Reese's Senior Bowl.

We say reportedly, because there was a tweet that confirmed his selection that has now been deleted. We're guessing it's a timing thing. Minshew struggled against the Huskies in the Apple Cup last week, but outside of that, the former ECU senior has been outstanding; showing impressive touch and accuracy in the Air Raid offense. He also has shown the ability to escape in the pocket, although he won't remind anyone of Lamar Jackson in terms of the speed. Minshew has really seen his stock rise, and a strong performance in Mobile can only help that stock rise.

Nov 28 - 5:54 PM

An NFL scout told The Athletic's Dane Brugler that the Auburn offense is holding redshirt junior QB Jarrett Stidham back.

"Pretty sure he’s long gone ... and it’s for the best," the scout said. "That offense ain’t doing him any favors. Senior Bowl week will be huge for him. Make-or-break type of week." Stidham has really struggled this year, but his weapons leave a lot to be desired, and he showed big-time promise during the 2017 season. Assuming he does play well in an event like the Senior Bowl, he'll have a chance to be one of the first quarterbacks off the board.

Tommy Sweeney - TE -  Eagles

Boston College redshirt senior TE Tommy Sweeney accepted an invitation to the Reese's Senior Bowl.

Sweeney (6'5/258) wrapped the regular season the owner of a 32-348-3 receiving line. While the Boston College NFL-hopeful is not the most spectacular of athletes, he does come with a tough-nosed game, a soft pair of hands and a sharp mind for his routes. Sweeney will look to use the Senior Bowl as a jumping off point to the evaluating season. He is likely to be in the late Day 3 or UDFA mix come the spring.

Nov 29 - 8:14 PM

Michigan senior RB Karan Higdon accepted an invitation to the Reese's Senior Bowl.

Higdon (5'10/202) will be launching into the predraft evaluation season coming off his best overall campaign in the collegiate ranks. The senior back has rushed for 1,178 yards (5.3 YPC) and 10 touchdowns over the course of 11 games played on the year. As for his draft profile, The Draft Network's Kyle Crabbs noted over the summer that Higdon "[p]airs potent burst with a violent and aggressive demeanor in high traffic areas" while cautioning that his style could be a physically taxing one given his somewhat slight frame. The UM product figures to be in the mix for a Day 3 selection come the spring draft.

Nov 29 - 6:54 PM

Washington senior RB Myles Gaskin ran for 70 yards on 21 carries in a 10-3 victory over Utah on Friday in the Pac-12 Championship.

This was ugly. Both defenses were on point, and both offenses, well, both defenses were on point. Gaskin was able to make some big plays as he usually does, but there wasn't much room to run. Fortunately for the Huskies, their defense allowed just a field goal. The Huskies win the Pac-12 Championship for the second time in three years, and they'll be headed to Pasadena on New Year's Day to play in the Rose Bowl for the first time since 2000.

Nov 30 - 11:23 PM

Northern Illinois senior WR D.J. Brown caught four passes for 84 yards with two scores in a 30-29 victory over Buffalo on Friday in the MAC Championship.

A very strong game for Brown (5'9/185) who has been one of the more consistent parts of the NIU passing game in 2018. He had the biggest catch of his career in this one, a 35-yard touchdown strike from Marcus Childers that gave NIU a 30-29 lead with just over a minute left in the game. We'll see if he's a big part of the offense in the Huskies' bowl game in December.

Nov 30 - 10:36 PM

If the Chiefs don't sign Bell or Ingram, whoever they take at RB will probably be the consensus #1 pick.
yes this changes everything for the rookie draft. chances are high KC takes a rb, maybe even round 1 to get the team option.

Whoever they take should be 1.1.

Montgomery may make the most sense as he has shown he can catch the ball as well as run. Hunt and Montgomery are very similar in size and speed.

Is Montgomery any better than Ware?

That's what I'm wondering. Is whoever they take, if they don't sign Ingram or Bell, gonna be in a time share? Doesn't appear to be a bell cow RB in this draft.

This team has a window of opportunity before they have to pay Mahomes and Hill. Would seem that a 2 year deal for Ingram is the best move.

Ware can be every bit as much of a bell cow as Hunt.

Why can't Montgomery be a bell cow? I don't remember anyone saying Hunt was a bell cow type coming out of college. Reid knows how to use his RBs. Motgomery would be an instant monster and hands down 1.01.

Stanford senior WR JJ Arcega-Whiteside caught five passes for 109 yards in Saturday's 23-13 win over Cal.

Arcega-Whiteside (6'3/225) was unable to find the end zone on Saturday, but proved impactful regardless. This was his fifth 100-yard showing in 11 games played, and his third such performance in his last four games. On the whole, now, the senior wideout has compiled a 60-969-14receiving line. Assuming he plays in the team's bowl game, rather than sits out to start his draft preparation, he will have a decent chance to bump over 1,000 yards receiving for his final season of collegiate play.

Dec 1 - 6:47 PM

Stanford senior RB Bryce Love rushed for 74 yards on 22 carries in Saturday's 23-13 win over Cal.

Hey, another ho-hum game for Love. His season has been filled with them. The senior back has just one 100-yard game to his credit this year, none since he put up 136 yards and a score against USC back in early September. In six of his 10 games on the campaign, the senior has failed to even rush for 75 yards. All of this mediocrity has caused his draft stock to plummet. The Draft Network's Benjamin Solak, for one, wrote on social media late last month that NFL squads were "out" on Love, to the point where he is increasingly being viewed as a Day 3 selection -- a long ways out from a possible Day 1 pick had he declared for the 2018 draft rather than return to Stanford for one last run.

Dec 1 - 6:40 PM

Cal redshirt senior RB Patrick Laird rushed for 116 yards on 19 carries in Saturday's 23-13 loss to Stanford.

This was a game which was pushed back due to wildfire-caused air quality issues. Laird wrapped up the deferred contest with his second 100-yard game of the campaign, one which pushed his season yardage total up to 935 yards. One more sturdy showing in bowl action would give the redshirt senior his second straight year of at least 1,000 yards rushing.

Dec 1 - 6:25 PM

Collin Johnson - WR -  Longhorns

Texas junior WR Collin Johnson caught eight balls for 177 yards and a score in Saturday's 39-27 Big 12 Championship Game loss to Oklahoma.

With the performance, Johnson (6'6/220) has put himself into a position to log his first career 1,000-yard receiving season. He's posted a 65-945-7 line through 12 games (he missed the Texas Tech game with a knee injury suffered in practice). The true junior is going to have a difficult decision regarding his future after the season. "Johnson doesn't receive nearly enough love for how talented he is," The Athletic's Dane Brugler tweeted during the game. "Legit NFL prospect, not just because of his size, but because of his tempo and ball skills."
