[Dynasty] 2019 NFL Draft Class (1 Viewer)

Brett Rypien - QB -  Broncos

Boise State senior QB Brett Rypien completed 15-of-31 passes for 125 yards, one touchdown and no interceptions in a 19-16 overtime loss against Fresno State in the Mountain West Conference Championship game.

Rypien and his teammates came up just short against the Bulldogs, but they're still going bowling. The Broncos will likely be bucking their way to Albuquerque for the New Mexico Bowl against a Conference USA opponent, as Fresno punched its ticket for the Las Vegas Bowl with the win. Rypien will be looking to go out in style and start ramping up for the NFL, with several scouts likely paying close mind.

Dec 1 - 11:56 PM

Dwayne Haskins - QB -  Buckeyes

Ohio State redshirt sophomore QB Dwayne Haskins completed 34-of-41 passes for 499 yards with five touchdowns and an interception in a 45-24 victory over Northwestern in the Big Ten Championship Game on Saturday.

The game ended up becoming a blowout, but this was actually a one-score game in the fourth quarter. Haskins wasn't going to be denied, however, and played as well as we've seen him play. That's saying something, considering how good he's been this year. He now has 11 touchdowns in his last two games, and he's shown the arm strength and accuracy you're looking for in an NFL quarterback. The Buckeyes are either heading to face the Huskies in the Rose Bowl on New Year's Day or will get a chance to play in the CFB Playoff. We'll find out which on Sunday.

Dec 1 - 11:54 PM

Darrin Hall - RB -  Panthers

Pitt senior RB Darrin Hall ran for 86 yards on 14 carries in a 42-10 loss to Clemson in the ACC Championship Game on Saturday.

Hall was able to make some decent runs, but it wasn't nearly enough with Clemson scoring points and the Pittsburgh passing game doing less than nothing. The senior does go over the thousand-yard mark, however, and played solidly -- at times much better than that -- over his 2018 campaign. He'll get a chance to play in a bowl game, but after that, he should get an invite to at least one of the all-star bowls.

Dec 1 - 11:44 PM

Oregon junior QB Justin Herbert hasn't interviewed any sports agents yet.

While running through some draft eligible quarterbacks on NFL Countdown, ESPN's Adam Schefter noted that neither Herbert, nor his parents, have interviewed agents and have told agents to hold back. Players headed to the draft obviously interview agents to get guidance throughout the draft process, so this is more evidence that Herbert could be staying for his senior season despite being a candidate for the first overall pick. Until Herbert makes a public decision, these reports are all we can go off. Hopefully a decision is made shortly.

According to Pro Football Focus' grades, West Virginia senior QB Will Grier was the best quarterback when blitzed in 2018.

On 124 pass attempts when blitzed, Grier completed 68.5% of his passes while averaging 10.5 yards per attempt. That's excellent, but Grier also didn't throw a single interception and had 22 touchdowns with pressure coming -- both being the best marks in the country. That means 59% of his touchdown passes came against the blitz, and he had a higher YPA when blitzed -- Grier averaged 9.3 yards per attempt in non-blitz situations. With West Virginia sitting at 8-3, Grier will have a bowl game, assuming he plays, before heading to the 2019 NFL Draft.

I'm really liking Snell lately
Really depends on where he goes. I'm probably avoiding completely. He could end up in a great spot like Howard did and then they decide that they don't want that type of RB and give the keys to Cohen. Then you got nothing. Can Snell catch? Will they let him catch? Howard ran a  4.59. Can't imagine Snell runs better than that.

Guys like Montgomery and Henderson, while lighter, are better 3 down options imo.

I disagree. I think Montgomery can be the best back in this class, but Snell is going to be one to rise up draft boards I think.

I try to like him. He's a workhorse back but who is a slow workhorse anymore? He does seem indestructible. He's gotta run a 4.55 or better for me to get really interested.

Yep but so is Cohen. Game has changed on us. It's hard to take guys like Cohen, Brieda, dude in Denver but they are useful now in FF.
I wouldn't consider someone you compare to Cohen as anyone I would take early in rd 1.  Maybe mid-rd 2.

Kareem Hunt ran a 4.62

Speed isnt as important when you break tackles like a madman

Hunt's faster than his 40. I don't think Benny is. You can time Benny here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=28lHH8pCXmI He's got about a 45 yard run at 2:28. Even with a running start, I can't get him under 4.6. Of course this is with pads on. If only he had speed? He's certainly a potential GL scoring machine.

http://www.startribune.com/put-stock-in-nfl-combine-times-not-so-fast/476062943/

Also standing out was Chiefs running back Kareem Hunt, who logged the 20th-fastest 40 time of any running back at the 2017 combine (4.62). But he recorded a top speed of 20.84 MPH during a 58-yard run against the Patriots in Week 1, good for the fourth highest among rookie running backs and the 13th-fastest running back speed overall on any given play last season.

I just gotta see the 40 time and where he goes before I get too excited.

yes I agree with the above. I think if he fits a good scheme he can be a good rb. I am not too quick to disregard a bigger back in today's NFL, especially since tomorrows NFL could be very different

I like Snell, but he's a poor man's Damien Harris.

I'll tell ya this, FF need the Rams to dominate with a SB win so teams start realizing a bell cow 3 down back is a good thing. I was gonna say against the Chiefs but Hunt just screwed that up. Copying New England is a failed experiment. They can do it, most teams can't but they think because NE is successfully yearly with ham & egger RBs, they can as well..

Where's Jim Brown, Walter Payton, and Barry Sanders when you need them.

Standing on the sidelines taking a breather after a 20 yard run.
Guys back then didn't come out of the game after a 20 yard run like they do now.  Hell, they need a breather after a 10 yard run, or WRs after a 20 yard catch.  It's pathetic.

Andy Isabella - WR -  Minutemen

Per Pro Football Focus UMass senior WR Andy Isabella recorded 705 yards on deep receptions this season.

PFF labels Isabella (5'10/190) as "the nation's best deep-pass receiver" this season and we won't disagree. On deep balls alone Isabella recorded 14 receptions for 705 yards and nine touchdowns. He will end the season with a full line of 102-1698-12. Isabella accepted his invite to the Reese's Senior Bowl and is a very intriguing draft prospect.

Iowa State junior RB David Montgomery forced 14 missed tackles in Saturday's 27-24 win over Drake.

Montgomery is only six missed tackles away from Devin Singletary, the leader this season. Montgomery is looking to lead the FBS in missed tackles again after finishing with the most last season. He also recorded 118 of his 145 total rushing yards after contact. Montgomery has proven over that past two seasons that he refuses to go down on first contact. He will likely play in one last game for the Cyclones before declaring for the NFL Draft. He has a legitimate chance to be the first running back off the board.

Dec 2 - 1:58 PM

Oklahoma junior WR Marquise Brown averaged 3.9 yards per route run during the 2018 regular season.

Brown was electric as the Sooners top pass-catcher, recording 1264 yards and 10 touchdowns on 70 receptions. Per Pro Football Focus Brown also posted a 139.2 passer rating when targeted this season. Evaluations on Brown are all over the place as some view him as a potential first-round speedster and others see a mid-round field-stretcher. He will have a chance to make a statement in the national spotlight against Alabama in the Orange Bowl on December 29th.

I was actually referring to today's RBs. It is sad.

North Carolina State WR Kelvin Harmon to enter 2019 NFL draft

Rotoworld take:

NC State junior WR Kelvin Harmon announced that he'll enter the 2019 NFL Draft.

Harmon also announced that he won't play in the Gator Bowl. The writing was on the wall here for a while after he walked with seniors during their game against Wake Forest. Harmon was excellent in 2018, posting a 72/1,065/6 line for the Wolf Pack. With his size (6'3/214) he's an obvious red-zone threat, but there are some concerns about his overall speed and athleticism. If he does test well at the combine and his pro day, he'll be a high draft pick because of those ball skills and production.

Auburn QB Jarrett Stidham to forgo final season for draft

Rotoworld take:

Auburn redshirt junior QB Jarrett Stidham declared for the 2019 NFL Draft.

Multiple reports surfaced to this effect on Tuesday morning, with Stidham confirming his intentions via a Twitter announcement several hours later. The 6-foot-3, 215-pounder's stock has taken a significant hit this season after he opted to return to Auburn for 2018, with Draft Analyst's Tony Pauline writing that while he viewed Stidham as a candidate to push toward the first round prior to the start of the campaign, he no longer sees that as a possibility. The analyst is not completely out on Stidham, though, believing that the signal-caller "will be a solid second-day choice and has starting potential at the next level if properly developed." We're going to need to see a lot from him during the evaluating phase to feel comfortable with even a Day 2 selection.

North Carolina redshirt junior WR Anthony Ratliff-Williams declared for the 2019 NFL Draft.

Ratliff-Williams (6'1/205) worked out to a 42-689-2 receiving line in 11 games during the 2018 campaign. He has a lot going for him that could be appealing for the pro ranks, including an ability to make contested catches as well as first-rate speed and acceleration attributes. The Draft Network's Joe Marino notes that the UNC product "wins with athletic ability, hands, ball skills and competitive toughness." He could stand to improve on his routes, but has plenty of upside regardless. Look for him to be part of the Day 2 conversation in the spring.

Northwestern State redshirt junior WR Jazz Ferguson declared for the 2019 NFL Draft.

Ferguson (6'5/223) comes equipped with an NFL-ready frame and is fresh off a slick 2018 campaign in which he registered a 66-1117-13 receiving line while averaging 16.9 yards per reception. He is going to have to satisfactorily answer some questions from pro teams if he is to receive legitimate draft interest, as he was indefinitely suspended from LSU in the fall of 2016 due to a reported failed drug test, a suspension which eventually led to his Northwestern State transfer. Ferguson will look to claw his way into the Day 3 mix come the spring.

Duke redshirt junior QB Daniel Jones said that he will not sit out the team's Independence Bowl matchup with Temple.

Jones has not officially declared for the draft, but The Athletic's Dane Brugler passed along at the end of November that he has heard such a declaration will be coming down the pike in time. Regardless of his eventual decision -- no timeline on that -- the redshirt junior said that he has never seriously considered sitting out Duke's bowl game. The 6-foot-5, 220-pound Blue Devils standout ranks as Mel Kiper Jr.'s No. 25 overall prospect in the draft-eligible pool.

Jaylen Smith - WR -  Cardinals

Louisville senior WR Jaylen Smith accepted an invitation to play in the Reese's Senior Bowl.

Smith (6'4/220) was not impervious to the failings of Louisville in 2018, as the 2-10 Cardinals struggled to move the football. After posting a 60/980/7 line, his numbers fell to 36/550/1. With his size and red-zone skills, he'll definitely players keep an eye on, and it should help Smith that he gets to play with legitimate quarterbacks in Mobile.

Dec 3 - 7:38 PM

South Carolina redshirt senior WR Deebo Samuel will not play in the Belk Bowl against Virginia.

Samuel's time with the Gamecocks is officially over. The senior wideout has flashed tremendous potential -- just look at the 210 yards and three touchdowns he put up against Clemson -- but also has been banged up, so you can't blame him for skipping out on a fairly non-consequential game. If Samuel tests well and gets a clean bill of health, he's likely to go in the first two rounds.

The Athletic's Dane Brugler has the Jacksonville Jaguars selecting Ohio State redshirt sophomore QB Dwayne Haskins with the sixth pick in his first mock draft.

Haskins would be the second quarterback off the board in this scenario, with Oregon's Justin Herbert going to the New York Giants a pick ahead of him. The Buckeyes' quarterback has been outstanding in 2018, leading Ohio State to a 12-1 record and a trip to the Rose Bowl while putting up monster numbers. "Haskins lacks ideal experience, but he has special arm talent and showed steady improvements with each game, most importantly his reaction to pressure," Brugler writes. "His draft arrow is pointing up."

Daniel Jones is the guy I hope Denver can get. Would love Haskins but I think he is gone by then.
