Boise State RB Alexander Mattison was second in missed tackles forced among Group of 5 running backs in 2018.
Mattison (5'11/221) only trailed FAU RB Devin Singletary in the category, but it was a huge gap between the two (96 to 68). The Boise State back isn't as elusive as Singletary is, but Mattison has a big frame and has experience catching passes (55 receptions in the last two season). An NFL running backs coach recently said that Mattison (5'11/221) "just got it done" last year despite not having a bunch of explosive traits, and the stats back that up. Mattison is a Day 3 sleeper.

NFL Media analyst Daniel Jeremiah believes that NC State QB Ryan Finley is a fit for the Miami Dolphins.
The Dolphins have their starter in Ryan Fitzpatrick -- you likely know him as Ryan Fitzmagic, or at least you should -- so the "need" for a quarterback has lessened. That could allow the Dolphins to look elsewhere in the first-round and take a developmental quarterback, which is what Finley is at this point. "I see him in the same vein as Matt Schaub when I scouted him coming out of Virginia," writes Jeremiah. "Schaub, when plugged into the right offense in Houston early in his career, had some success, earning a couple of trips to the Pro Bowl (2009, 2012)." You could do a lot worse, anyway.

NFL Media's Daniel Jeremiah said that Easton Stick is "tough" but "not going to wow with arm strength."
Jeremiah also complemented Stick's athletic ability -- he ran the 40-yard dash in 4.62 seconds -- but it's a scouting report that sticks with consensus, no pun intended. NFL Film's Greg Cosell compared Stick to a smaller-version of Alex Smith due to his sneaking speed and mediocre arm. Stick also has leadership qualities and tons of #QBWinz, which certainly will move him up draft boards. As of now, Stick is on the Day 2/3 borderline as a future NFL backup with some developmental upside.

Draft Analyst's Tony Pauline passes along that Fresno State WR KeeSean Johnson has a private workout scheduled with the Arizona Cardinals for next week.
Johnson (6'1/201) is fresh off his pro day, where he improved on his combine testing numbers almost across the board, including a trimmed 40-yard dash time of 4.53 seconds (with some watches even clocking him in the 4.4's) compared to his Indianapolis sprint of 4.60 seconds. He met with both the Chargers and Bengals around his pro day. At this juncture, Johnson appears ticketed for Day 3 of the draft.

NFL Media analyst Lance Zierlein believes that Ohio State RB Mike Weber could have a career cap as an RB3.
Weber showed flashes of brilliance in his time with the Buckeyes, but also never quite was able to become the star tailback some predicted. Zierlein notes that Weber's vision is a strength, as are his "plus instincts to choose clearest paths once he's in open field." He also notes concerns with Weber's burst, and that he runs in a "monotone downhill pace." " He can make the initial tackler miss but doesn't string moves together effectively," Zierlein writes in the summary. "He could have a career cap as a RB3."

Prospect looks ok but man this article sounds like a 12 yr old writing a research paper.
Great article thanks!
This is interesting. All of the hype here is about Hockenson (I think it's the Gronk comp), but DFL loves Fant way more.
Where do these two go in ppr at this point? Late 1st? Irv Smith is the forgotten man in this conversation. This is interesting. All of the hype here is about Hockenson (I think it's the Gronk comp), but DFL loves Fant way more.
My opinion is that Fant seems to be the better fantasy option but Hockenson is the better NFL option; Fant has to go to a team willing to not use him like a traditional TE

Smith may end up better than both. QB play and schemes will play a major role in their fantasy success or failure. This is interesting. All of the hype here is about Hockenson (I think it's the Gronk comp), but DFL loves Fant way more.

Bleacher Report's Matt Miller writes that scouts are "not high" on UCLA TE Caleb Wilson.
Wilson appears to be a polarizing prospect at this point. Some, like NFL analyst Bucky Brooks, have him as a top five tight end. Miller, however, says that isn't the consensus, and some have the tight end as "undrafted" on their boards. The 4.56 40-yard dash and some quality numbers should give him NFL looks, but in a deep class, it's tough to see Wilson off to board earlier than Day 3. It just takes one team to fall in love, though.

NFL Media analyst Lance Zierlein compares San Diego State TE Kahale Warring to former NFL TE Todd Heap.
Heap was a star in the NFL for a team at the tight end position, so yeah, this is a flattering comparison for Warring (6'5/252). "He's exciting to project because he hasn't played that much football and he still has big-time flashes, an NFC scout told Zierlein. "He's one of those guys who was good at everything in high school athletics, and that usually translates out on the field." Zierlein has more high praise in his overview of Warring. "He has the competitiveness to handle run-blocking duties and the talent to line up in the slot," he writes. "While his production won't catch your eye, his tape does with quickness and ball skills that should make him a more productive target in the NFL than he was in college." Very intriguing, indeed.

An anonymous scout told ESPN's Adam Schefter that Will Grier "put on a show" during his Pro Day on Thursday.
The scout told Schefter that Grier is a "riser." Just how much that rise will be is tough to say, as Grier (6'2/217) was a polarizing prospect coming into his Pro Day. The scout also tells Schefter that the former Mountaineer signal-caller will meet with 10 teams including the Giants, Washington , Chargers, Pats and Saints. All of those teams have older quarterbacks behind center -- and Washington has Alex Smith, whose career could be over because of a horrific knee injury -- so Grier could be a potential answer in the long-term for any of those clubs.

Draft Analyst's Tony Pauline writes that Missouri WR Emmanuel Hall "looked good" during drills on Thursday for his Pro Day.
As Pauline notes, Hall (6'2/201) has been the subject of injury concerns, and while he ultimately was not diagnosed with a sports hernia, he was told to take it easy, so he didn't run the 40-yard dash or jump. "He looked explosive running routes and caught the ball exceptionally well," Pauline writes. "Hall met with the Detroit Lions, Miami Dolphins and New Orleans Saints today. He continues to receive a lot of interest from the New York Jets." Right now, Hall is a Day 2 candidate, and wouldn't be around for long if he makes it to Day 3.

Emanuel Hall, Missouri
Hall is a rare athlete at his position. The 6-foot-2, 201-pound receiver ran a 4.39-second 40-yard dash. He also posted a 43.5-inched vertical jump. His top drill was the broad jump, as he posted a position-leading mark of 141 inches. He is probably cemented as a second-round pick after his NFL Combine performance.
Yahoo Sports Eric Edholm projects Missouri WR Emanuel Hall to Round 3.
Hall (6'2/201) is considered as one of the best deep threats in the draft, and he should be at the tail end of the expected Day 2 wide receiver run. NFL Media's Lance Zierlein called Hall a "one-trick pony" but he's really good at that one trick. At Missouri, Hall averaged 14.3 yards per target despite playing through injuries. At the NFL Scouting Combine, Hall clocked-in a 4.39-second 40-yard dash, solidifying his status as a Day 2 or, worst case, early Day 3 selection.

NFL Media's Lance Zierlein ranks Missouri WR Emanuel Hall as his No. 8 overall receiver.
Hall (6'2/201) was described as a "one-trick pony" by Zierlein because of his reliance on the go route, which Hall listed as his favorite route. But the good news is that Hall is really good at running it, leading to a high-end 14.3 yards per target. Zierlein questions if Hall will have an immediate impact with NFL corners having enough size and speed to somewhat hang with him, but the analyst projects Hall as a "low-volume, high-impact WR2/WR3" once he improves in other areas in the route tree. After setting a new broad jump record at the NFL Scouting Combine, it would be a minor surprise if he fell to Day 3.

The Draft Network's Benjamin Solak considers Missouri WR Emanuel Hall to be one of the biggest winners on Saturday at the NFL Scouting Combine.
Hall (6'2/201) dominated in athletic testing, running a 4.39 40-yard dash and jumping for a 43.5-inch vertical as well as setting the new record for wide receivers in the broad jump with an 11.9-foot leap. This puts him in the 99th percentile athletically according to SPARQ scores. Solak was disappointed he didn't run the agility drills, but "as a deep threat Hall solidified his ideal athletic profile."

The Athletic's Dane Brugler calls Missouri WR Emanuel Hall "one of the best deep threats in the 2019 draft class."
Hall (6'3/200) was head-and-shoulders the best receiver for Drew Lock in 2017 and 2018, and he even led the FBS in yards per target (14.0) among receivers with at least 50 targets. The primary concern for Hall is his injury history, which Brugler calls "worrisome". One on-field area that Brugler argues can be improved is Hall's ability to finish the play, but his "start/stop athleticism" will make NFL corners nervous about getting beat deep the second he steps onto the turf. Hall appears to be on the Day 2/3 borderline, but we will know about his draft stock after the NFL Combine when teams get to access his medicals.

Missouri senior WR Emanuel Hall averaged the most yards per target (14.0) in 2018 among draft-eligible players with at least 50 targets.
Hall (6'3/200) has been a big-play threat for two seasons, but his 2018 season was special despite playing through injuries. The senior ran laps around his teammates -- the next closest Tiger in yards per target was Jalen Knox all the way down at 8.3 (min. 50 targets) -- and is head and shoulders above the rest of the 2019 WR class. Other notable 2019 receivers in yards per target: D.K. Metcalf (13.5), Andy Isabella (11.2), A.J. Brown (10.9), Antoine Wesley (10.7), J.J. Arcega-Whiteside (10.6), and Deebo Samuel (8.7).
