[Dynasty] 2020 NFL Draft Class (1 Viewer)

I do but I am finding some warts that disappoint me. Overall destination matters a lot of course
One thing to consider is the law of supply and demand.  With the number of RBs that will have 1st or 2nd round grades, I think some NFL teams will pass in the first round given the short shelf life of a RB and look at another position of need. Then gamble that one of those back will be there in the 2nd.  With some philosophical change in the league, the only year you will have a RB drafted early 1 will be the year that there is clear separation between the best #1 RB and the rest of the draft class at that position.

I only read this board and (less frequently) the board at DLF, but I feel like there is a progressive de-hyping of the class, which makes sense now that everyone is doing more granular work on the prospects. Maybe the fact that there isn't a prospect regarded in the same class as a Calvin/Julio or Zeke/Barkley affects things. Also, guys like Jeudy who were getting "best WR prospect in a long time" hype in the preseason have been knocked off that pedestal (I've done this in my own evaluations, honestly -- and I'm wondering if he doesn't belong back up there; a lot of writers that I trust claim he's the best route runner they've ever evaluated). I still love this class, and I think once these players land on actual teams people will be a little more smitten again; they're just all bunched up right now.

Not that it matters much, if at all, but I have 1 RB in the same Tier Barkley was and 2 WR's as a Tier 1 WR as well.  Only been through about 15 RB's and ~10 or so WR's.  The next RB's I have ranked are still a tier above anyone from 2018, and the next WR's are on par with the top guys from 2018.  As of now that makes 6 players I have ahead of ANYONE from 2018.  Just one mans amateur opinion, but this class is absolutely still very stacked.  I hyped up last year for the WR's since I loved that group, this group is better for sure.  I hope people sleep on this class as much as possible, or they don't realize how good they are, cause there's plenty of value to be had even in rookie pick prices that everyone wanted 6 months ago, might have been devalued a bit already.  I'm buying.

I've been saying this for a while, and I forget who it was who was dumping on the 2019 class because of one late 1st round rb, but I remember the post.

I agree, there arent a whole lot of seriously rb needy teams either, so several may fall.

Agree. DLF is nice to go to as their opinions are vastly different from this board.

I think most people were expecting the RBs, WRs, and QBs to take major jumps from 2018 to 2019, and in general they didnt... so while the class is still great, it's not what we were told a year ago

Who is your Tier 1 RB?

None of the top tier RBs are landing spot proof.
No RB is every landing spot proof, the great ones make average o-lines look better.  That's what Barkley did.  And his 2018 was way better than 2019 when the o-line was worse.  What's your point?

What if Cleveland drafted Swift?  Where would you draft him then?  Also, typically it's the OL that makes the RB, not the other way around.

Boston College RB AJ Dillon led the ACC with 80 forced missed tackles, according to Pro Football Focus.

Dillon's 80 forced missed tackles were five more than that of Clemson RB Travis Etienne. To beat out Etienne in any stat, even if just one, is a heck of an achievement. As the numbers would suggest, Dillon (6'0/250) is a threatening downhill running back who does his best work between the tackles. Dillon is expected to be a Day 3 pick come April.

Chubb has done just fine behind that o-line because he's special as well.  Agree that the o-line has a lot to do with a RB's success but a below average spot is still a win for special players.  Barkley and Chubb being great examples.

Jordan Reid‏ @JReidNFL

If your team needs an Offensive Tackle, you’re in luck. Seems like a new name comes about everyday with the 2020 group. It’s legit and has the potential to be deep on all three days. -10:54 AM - 23 Dec 2019

This.

Great RBs dont need an amazing OL to do well. Sure, it helps, but they dont need it.

Drafting based on landing spot is not the best way to do it IMO. Situations change on a dime.

Cleveland isnt going to take a RB in the first 2 rounds, so mentioning them is a bit of a silly argument. Baltimore may, at least they've been mocked to. So what if Baltimore takes Swift? Does that drop him out of 1.1? Probably. Should it? I dont think so

Washington QB Jacob Eason has declared for the 2020 NFL Draft.

It was no sure thing that Eason (6'6/227) was going to declare, but it's safe to say many evaluators were counting on it happening. Eason becomes the second underclass QB to officially declare in this class, joining Utah State's Jordan Love. While Eason's junior season wasn't stellar, he showed off all the arm talent, functional athleticism, and potential that will entice NFL teams to pick him early. Eason, though a bit of a project, is a safe bet to go in the top-50 and a potential riser into the first round by the time it's all said and done.

2020 NFL Draft: What to know about Jacob Eason after Washington quarterback declares

Syracuse redshirt junior WR Trishton Jackson declared for the 2020 NFL Draft.

Jackson (6'1/183) began his career at Michigan State before transferring over to Syracuse. He now bounces for the draft after breaking out for a sharp 66-1023-11 receiving line during the fall campaign. He was named a second-team All-ACC performer for his efforts. Jackson has yet to receive major steam as a draft prospect and figures to need a strong evaluating season if he is to differentiate himself in a loaded class of receivers.

Notre Dame TE Cole Kmet was given a second-round grade by the NFL draft advisory committee, per Pete Sampson of The Athletic.

Being deemed a second-round pick by the advisory board is high praise. The board tends to low-ball prospects to steer them away from declaring before they are ready, so a second-round grade is excellent. Despite the high grade, Kmet has yet to make a decision about whether he will declare. The 6-foot-5, 250-pound tight end said he will make his decision after Notre Dame plays its bowl game. Kmet has caught 41 passes for 482 yards and six scores this season.

I disagree unless his name is Sanders, Brown, Dickerson, Simpson, or Sayers.  Maybe a few more.  Emmitt Smith wouldn’t have faired well behind a crappy OL.
   Give me the RB with the top 5 OL. Look at BALT. Doesn't matter who the RB is, they get 5 a carry. That OL is ridiculous.

I have 5 running backs from this class who I’d take over Jacob and Sanders.

I have both Jacob and Sanders on my Dyno Team.

Interesting. Maybe 5 rbs get selected before where the Eagles got Sanders, maybe. But definitely not Jacobs. And they've both added to their value during their rookie seasons.

But you're not way off consensus based on everything I'm reading.

Thanks... I figured, but wanted to check as DLF is all about Taylor.

Holding 1.2 and 1.1 is a Badger fan... although he has said he is going to take whoever Houston takes, which  would be very interesting if he sticks to that...
I'm holding 1.2 as well so who goes at 1.1 is of great interest to me. ( Btw, I acquired 1.2 this summer when our KC homer just had to have Darwin Thompson after I picked him in the 2nd round of our Rookie draft) Right now I have Swift at 1.1 but ETN is really intriguing and what Dobbins has done this year is eye opening.  Throw in Higgins and Lamb and tomorrow is going to be a great day of watching football!

Which 5?  I have 4 currently.  Swift, Etienne, Taylor, and Dobbins.  And I have another 7 that I view on par with Jacobs as a prospect.

Baylor senior WR Denzel Mims will play in the team's Sugar Bowl matchup with Georgia on Wednesday.

Bears HC Matt Rhule offered up a great quote on this one, relaying to reporters that when he asked Mims -- who will be trying for an NFL selection in April -- whether he would be sitting out the Sugar Bowl, "He looked at me like I was nuts." The 6-foot-3, 215-pound senior told Rhule, "We’re playing Georgia. Of course I’m playing." Beautiful. Mims logged a 61-945-11 receiving line in 11 games while helping the Bears to make the Big 12 Championship Game this fall. As for the draft side of the equation, Mims will be taking part in the Senior Bowl next month as he looks to get his evaluating season off to a sharp start.

USC senior WR Michael Pittman caught six passes for 53 yards on Saturday in a 49-24 blowout loss to Iowa on Friday in the San Diego County Credit Union Holiday Bowl.

Pittman also lost a fumble. It's a disappointing end to the season for the senior, who is viewed by many as one of the top players at the position not counting early-eligibles. Testing will be important for the 6-foot-4, 220-pound wideout, but after a 101-yard, 11 touchdown season, it'd be a surprise if Pittman was still on the board after Day 2.

Iowa senior QB Nathan Stanley completed 18-of-27 passes for 213 yards with two touchdowns in a 49-24 crushing of USC on Friday in the San Diego County Credit Union Holiday Bowl.

Stanley sizzled in the first half, helping the Hawkeyes build a two-score lead and completed 11-of-12 passes over those two periods. In the second half, the senior quarterback was not as successful, but they did more than enough against a Trojans' defense that was flat-out overmatched. Stanley (6'4/243) never took the step forward that many anticipated, but his size and arm strength is likely to intrigue NFL scouts. It's not hard to imagine him being a mid-to-late round pick and competing for a backup spot come April.

Oklahoma State redshirt sophomore RB Chuba Hubbard turned 19 carries into 158 yards in a 24-21 loss to Texas A&M on Friday to Texas A&M in the Academy Sports + Outdoors Texas Bowl.

In the second quarter, Hubbard joined the 2K club, going over 2,000 yards on the season. Even with the Aggies focused on stopping the run, the 6-foot-1, 207-pound tailback was able to find rushing room, and he also added a pair of catches for 15 yards. Hubbard has not yet decided if he'll enter the draft, but he's a likely Day 2 pick if/when he does give up his final two years of eligibility. Expect a decision from the tailback in the coming days.

I know I’ll get flamed but I’d take Chuba Hubbard. He’s not getting the attention the others you mentioned but he’s a special looking talent. I’d take over Jacobs but not by much he’s speed is unreal. For giggles I’d like to see who’s faster between he and Etienne.

IMO 2019 gave us a couple rb2s. 2020 has a small handful of rb1s and some rb2s as well.

I'm curious to see where you have Moss and Akers

Washington State redshirt senior QB Anthony Gordon completed 28-of-42 passes for 351 yards, three touchdowns and no interceptions in Friday's 31-21 loss against Air Force in the Cheez-It Bowl.

Gordon (6'3/210) was slinging it around, especially in the second half, but the Cougars offense didn't seem to be hitting on all cylinders. He had a nice rapport with WR Brandon Arconado, hooking up 11 times for 167 yards and a score, but everyone else had a rather dismal performance against the dominant Falcons. Gordon posted huge numbers, following in the footsteps of Gardner Minshew II, and Luke Falk before him. Those two had some success in the NFL in 2019, and there is no reason to believe Gordon can't be a Day 3 pick or an undrafted free-agent, getting a shot in someone's camp in 2020.

Dec 28, 2019, 1:58 AM ET

Washington State senior WR Brandon Arconado registered 11 receptions for 167 yards and a touchdown in Friday's 31-21 loss against Air Force in the Cheez-It Bowl.

Arconado (6'0/193) was the 'Big Cheese' in the Washington State offense in this one, and he didn't show any ill effects from the wrist injury he suffered in the Apple Cup to close out the regular season. Arconado was able to put down some impressive film for NFL teams as he heads into the next phase of his football career. He could get some sniffs in Day 3 of the draft, or perhaps he ends up as an undrafted free agent. But he is more than likely to get plenty of calls and a chance in an NFL camp next summer. If not, his mom leaked that he was once taken for modeling, so that could be a fallback option. "Oh my gosh, I read that. I was like; 'Why would you say that? I'm about to get flamed by my teammates.' Yeah, she took me--I forget where it was at, like Ford Modeling, something like that," Arconado said.

Washington State redshirt senior WR Easop Winston posted five grabs for 43 yards in Friday's 31-21 Cheez-It Bowl loss against Air Force.

Winston (6'0/192) tied with RB Max Borghi for second in receptions in this game behind WR Brandon Arconado. The redshirt senior ended up hauling in 85 receptions for 970 yards and 11 touchdowns in 2019, and 132 catches for 1,581 yards and 19 scores in his seasons in Pullman in Mike Leach's Air Raid offense. He saw his NFL Draft stock rise this season, and he could potentially be a Day 3 pick, or at the very least an undrafted free agent who gets a shot in a camp next summer.

Dec 28, 2019, 2:20 AM ET

Washington State senior WR Dezmon Patmon posted three grabs for 22 yards and a touchdown in Friday's 31-21 loss against Air Force in the Cheez-It Bowl.

Patmon (6'4/220) was able to find the end zone in his final game in the Air Raid offense under Mike Leach, but his last stat line wasn't terribly exciting. Still, he was a dependable receiver in the offense all season, and his next stop will be in the 2020 East/West Shrine Bowl where he will be able to work on improving his stock. At the very least, he'll get a look as an undrafted free agent and appear in someone's camp. However, he could work his way into a late-round pick with a good showing in the Shrine bowl, and perhaps the NFL Scouting Combine if he is extended an invitation.
