[Dynasty] 2020 NFL Draft Class (2 Viewers)

Miami RB DeeJay Dallas declares for 2020 NFL Draft

Miami junior RB DeeJay Dallas declared for the 2020 NFL Draft.

Dallas (5'10"/220) turned in a career-best season in 2019, rushing for 694 yards (6.0 YPC) and eight touchdowns while logging a 14-140-2 receiving line. The junior sustained a left elbow dislocation in late November which kept him from playing in the team's bowl loss earlier this week, but there have been no indications that this injury might truly hamper Dallas during the evaluating process. For pro purposes, Dallas is a tough-nosed prospect, but one lacking for overt athletic explosion. If he's to crack the draft, we're guessing that comes on Day 3.

Appalachian State RB Darrynton Evans declares for 2020 NFL draft

Appalachian State redshirt junior RB Darrynton Evans declared for the 2020 NFL Draft.

Evans (5'11/200) burst onto the scene with 1,187 yards (6.6 YPC) and seven touchdowns in 2018, with the bulk of that production coming after Jalin Moore went down with a season-ending injury midway through the campaign. He followed that campaign up with a 1,484-yard (5.8 YPC), 18-touchdown showing in 2019, chipping in with a 21-198-5 receiving line to boot. In a deep running backs class, Evans could land as a Day 3 selection in the spring depending on how his evaluating phase plays out.

Started walking down the path today. Interested to see how Lynn Bowden tests. His sophomore year wasn’t overwhelming but all in he accounted for ~40% of Kentucky’s offense this year.

Also dug up a deep sleeper out of Illinois: former USC WR Josh Imatorbhebhe... 30% receiving share this year despite the late breakout. Apparently had a litany of injuries at USC. Reportedly jumped ~47 in vert (will believe that when it’s done in appropriate fashion; there are clips on YouTube/twitter though). Doubt he gets a combine invite but I bet he emerges as an athletic freak.

Edit: I’m an idiot and while moving Bowden’s ‘18 column (due to his high rushing yds) moved KJ Hill’s ‘18 production. Bowden’s ‘18 was very impressive given the nature of that offense.

Chase Claypool? Looks pretty good.

Rotoworld:

Notre Dame senior WR Chase Claypool hauled in seven passes for 146 yards and a touchdown in Saturday's 33-9 win over Iowa State in the Camping World Bowl.

What a game for Claypool (6'4/229) to end his college career on. With 146 yards, Claypool hit a season-high in yardage and notched the second-best yardage mark of any game in his career. A performance like this gives Claypool great momentum heading into the 2020 Reese’s Senior Bowl, where he will get to compete against the top senior draft prospects from around the country. A player of Claypool’s size could turn some heads if he can prove to be at least slightly more nimble than he often shows on film. Claypool is expected to go somewhere between rounds three and five.

LSU junior WR Justin Jefferson caught 14 passes for 227 yards and four touchdowns in Saturday's 63-28 win over Oklahoma in the Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl.

Jefferson (6'3/192) set a Playoff record with his four touchdown catches -- and he did so before halftime, hauling in scoring passes of 19 and 35 yards in the first quarter and scoring passes of 42 and 30 yards in the second quarter. LSU's offensive performance, in two words, was utterly overwhelming. Jefferson and crew will look to make good on their magical 2019 season when they play in the college football title game in two-plus weeks. Whomever they are facing off with, there, be it Ohio State or Clemson, will have their work cut out for them. We don't necessarily believe in Team of Destiny-ish narratives, but LSU puts out those vibes if ever a squad did.

Justin Jefferson NFL Draft Projection: Latest Mocks & Profile for LSU WR

Oklahoma senior QB Jalen Hurts completed 15-of-31 passes for 217 yards touchdowns and an interception while rushing for 43 yards and two touchdowns on 14 attempts in Saturday's 63-28 loss to LSU in the Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl.

Hurts (6'2/218) did manage to lead the Sooners on touchdown drives in every quarter, but that just wasn't nearly enough in the face of LSU's onslaught. The Tigers led 49-14 at intermission. Tough end to the season for Hurts, who now must try to convince NFL evaluators that he has the upside for a pro future. We don't really see it, to be brutally honest, but we'll tip our cap to Hurts for an illustrious (if occasionally up-and-down) collegiate career.

Georgia junior QB Jake Fromm said he has not made his decision on whether he will declare for the 2020 NFL Draft.

Fromm (6'2/220) is in a trickier spot than most any other QB in this class. After a strong sophomore season, Fromm looked rather pedestrian for much of 2019, in part because the Bulldogs lost a number of key receivers and OC James Coley refused to open up the offense in any capacity. Coming back for one more year at Georgia may not fix that, either, as they will still be relying on a ton of young WRs and will be losing a couple of key OL, including LT Andrew Thomas. If Fromm declares, he is likely a Day 2 pick.

I'm trying to make a preliminary 2020 rookie draft list. This first round is stupid. This is just a list that I'm not falling on any sword for here in December, but tell me who I'm missing that should be here.

i have b2b picks in middle of 1st, considering a move up.  but the more i look at these prospects i cant help wonder why?

I'd love to get my hands on swift/taylor or juedy/lamb but omg i could be really happy with akers/chuba combo or any of those back end of 1st WRs.

any opinions if swift/taylor stand out enough to you vs sitting put for 2 of in the middle of round?

Landing spot is going to make the list more top-heavy so maybe moving up isn't a bad idea. But I do have to agree that standing pat is probably a pretty solid play. I have to assume that despite Reid being a punk, if KC drafts a top back they become the unanimous 1.01. Maybe it's easier to move up today than after the NFL draft?

Personally I'm probably staying put on my teams where I have between 1.04 and 1.08. After the NFL draft I might pay up to move a little if I see an opportunity, but I probably won't try too hard.

Not as advertised IMO... seemed to be more slam dunks thought for 2020 this time last year

Many mocks dont have any, or just 1, RB in the first round. 2019 was criticized for only 1 1st rounder.

Every one of these backs has a questionmark. At least at this point. Leaves a lot to look into
That's what is so weird about is that there are just so many good players clustered together, but none are obviously the generational type.  I said this elsewhere too, but this draft has no Saquon but it could have 4 to 6 Chubb or Kamara level talents.

It's probably going to get even deeper/wider when both Chuba and Edwards-Helaire declare.  Vaughn, Hill, or Benjamin could light up the combine or get drafted sooner than expected.  Somebody else could come out of nowhere with combine performance or draft capital as rocket fuel...

Texas junior QB Sam Ehlinger has submitted his name for feedback from the NFL College Advisory Committee, per Orangebloods.com's Anwar Richardson.

It's important to note here that submitting your name for feedback from the committee isn't indicative of a decision having already been made. Ehlinger (6'3/230) said on Sunday that he's confident that he's ready for the NFL, but still wants to have the feedback before he makes a decision regarding the 2020 NFL Draft. The junior quarterback was given a grade of UDFA by Pro Football Network's Tony Pauline before the season began, and he's likely a Day 3 prospect at this stage. Texas completes its season in the Valero Alamo Bowl vs. Utah Tuesday night.

Curious how a combined 19/20 rookie rankings would look as well. Maybe even 18 also for more tier texture.
that's why I like Zyphros' rookie stuff. his tiers stay the same so you can look back and compare.

I think ZWK also keeps previous rankings/tiers

Ohio State WR K.J. Hill has accepted an invitation to play in the Reese's Senior Bowl.

Hill (6'0/195) finished his Ohio State career with a six-reception, 67-yard performance in Saturday's loss to Clemson in the College Football Playoff semifinal at the PlayStation Fiesta Bowl. For the season he caught 57 passes for 636 yards and ten touchdowns, and while he wasn't used very often as a return man this season (five punt returns for 36 yards), Hill has experience as both a punt and kickoff returner. Hill was given a fifth-round grade by Pro Football Network draft analyst Tony Pauline before the season began, and he's caught in the middle of that Day 2/Day 3 range heading into pre-draft season.

SMU WR James Proche has accepted an invitation to play in the Reese's Senior Bowl.

Proche (6'0/193) was one of the most productive wide receivers in college football this season, as he caught 111 passes for 1,225 yards and 15 touchdowns. With fellow wide receiver Reggie Roberson missing the second half of the season due to injury defenses were able to focus more attention on Proche, but he was still productive for the Mustangs. Projected to be a Day 3 selection earlier in the season, the Senior Bowl invite may be a sign that Proche's standing is improving with NFL scouts.

Overall this is going to be very "pick your flavor" type of draft but I'm a big fan of Tylan Wallace and Jalen Reagor in the late first for now

Thanks... I figured, but wanted to check as DLF is all about Taylor.

Holding 1.2 and 1.1 is a Badger fan... although he has said he is going to take whoever Houston takes, which  would be very interesting if he sticks to that...
He spelled Kansas City wrong.

I know I’ll get flamed but I’d take Chuba Hubbard. He’s not getting the attention the others you mentioned but he’s a special looking talent. I’d take over Jacobs but not by much he’s speed is unreal. For giggles I’d like to see who’s faster between he and Etienne.

Tex
Talent vs. Talent maybe, but you can't ignore the primo situation Jacobs is in.  I maybe assume incorrectly that you're saying you'd take Chuba today over Jacobs today not knowing where Chuba lands, but if that's the case no way I roll those dice.  Too much risk Chuba ends up with a coach that dgaf about my fantasy team like Arians or Philly or NEP.  If you gave me a choice of Chuba or Jacobs as the bellcow in Oakland then I might consider that (although the one in the hand sounds pretty darn nice vs. two in the bush) but man I just can't say that yet.

I’m speaking Talent wise, Jacob is in a great spot with Oak/Vegas. He’ll be a Bellcow for years to come injury aside. I’m only saying if you reshuffle the deck and Jacob was in this years draft I’d probably take Chuba.

Hubbard may not declare for this coming draft.

No he may not, we’ll see. I’m hoping he comes out.

With picks 1.1-1.5 and 1.10 then 2.1 I’m just patiently waiting. I have an idea of which direction I’m going but until they all commit it’s just a waiting game.

This draft is loaded at RB, so he may be able to get selected higher in 2021 and increase his initial earning potential.  Or he may be thinking about potential injury if he goes back to college and that would kill his 2021 initial earning potential.  Bryce Love comes to mind.

I couldn’t agree more, I’d come out if I was him. With soooooo many people hung up a forty times and yada yada yada he’ll measure well.

Tex

The smart move for RBs is to come out. If you are what you think you can be in the NFL, you probably don't' want to be a late 1st rounder anyway. Get that 4 year contract done ASAP. You got to get your 4 years in before you are in your late 20s or you may not even get a nice 2nd contract. Man, being a RB now in college is not a $ maker in the pros. It's gonna take a few SB wins with bell cow Rbs to fix the mess NE caused by perpetually winning with a stable of ham & egger RBs.

Ya, I wish I had found more on YouTube. He certainly sounds like a freak. Usually the late breakout is a bad sign but if the athleticism matches, his best games were against some of the better Big Ten defenses.

Western Michigan redshirt senior TE Giovanni Ricci caught four passes for 20 yards in Monday's 23-20 loss to Western Kentucky in the ServPro First Responders Bowl.

Ricci (6'3/240) was one of Western Michigan's most productive pass catchers in 2019, as he finishes the season with 51 receptions, 642 receiving yards and eight touchdowns. He'll be difficult for the Broncos to replace, as Ricci has been one of the MAC's best tight ends since making the move from wide receiver ahead of the 2018 season. The first team all-conference performer was given a seventh-round projection by Pro Football Network.

Western Michigan redshirt senior RB LeVante Bellamy rushed for 60 yards on 18 carries in Monday's 23-20 loss to Western Kentucky in the ServPro First Responders Bowl.

Bellamy (5'9/190) fell 28 yards short of 1,500 for the season, as Western Kentucky managed to limit him to 3.3 yards per carry. The redshirt senior, who also caught one pass for two yards, finishes his final season at WMU with 1,472 yards and 23 rushing touchdowns on 266 carries. According to Western Michigan, the MAC Offensive Player of the Year ran a 4.28 in the 40-yard dash back in June and that speed will be his calling card as he looks to earn a shot in the NFL. Bellamy was a first team all-MAC selection in both 2018 and 2019, and he's been given a fourth-round grade by Pro Football Network.

Texas senior WR Collin Johnson has been invited to the NFL Scouting Combine, per HC Tom Herman.

Johnson (6'6/220) has been hampered by a nagging hamstring injury for much of the season, but that hasn't taken him off the radar of NFL scouts. The senior wide receiver, who posted a receiving stat line of 68-985-7 in 2018, appeared in just six regular season games and caught 35 passes for 497 yards and two touchdowns. He's good to go for Tuesday's Alamo Bowl matchup with Utah, giving Johnson one final chance to impress with an eye towards the next level. He'll have some questions to answer regarding his medical history in the pre-draft process, but Johnson has been projected to be a Day 2 prospect by some draft analysts.

Texas senior WR Devin Duvernay (shoulder) is expected to play and figure prominently in the Longhorns' game plan for Tuesday's Alamo Bowl matchup with Utah.

Duvernay (5'11/210) was outstanding in the Longhorns' win over Texas Tech to finish the regular season, catching six passes for 199 yards and a touchdown. And he could have done even more, if not for a shoulder injury that knocked him out of the game. The time off has benefitted both Duvernay and fellow senior Collin Johnson, who has struggled with a hamstring injury for most of the season. Both are healthy and will be key targets for QB Sam Ehlinger in Tuesday's season finale. It's also worth noting that Duvernay, who has received Day 2 draft projections, has been invited to participate in the NFL Scouting Combine.
