[DYNASTY] calling out the hard core owners.. (1 Viewer)

- Showed up at Broncos camp and blew past Champ Bailey for a score early on. Routinely tore up Broncos camp, showing much maturity for a rookie.
I think that both Watts and Triandos Luke have huge upside for the Broncos. Here's some more on Watts & Luke:Darius Watts, WR- Watts ended his career at Marshall owning a lot of receiver records. He has great run after the catch ability that Mike Shanahan loves. He can beat the jam off the line and get into his route quickly. He has great burst, and a decent second gear in the open field. He is a playmaker that can be very dangerous when healthy.Redraft Rating: 4Dynasty Rating: 8Triandos Luke, WR- Luke is another speedster that has big play ability. He can catch on the run and not lose much speed. His concentration and hands are good and he has long arms which make him a great deep threat. Redraft Rating: 2Dynasty Rating: 7Here's some excerpts about Watts from my Training Camp Reports: Darius Watts made a great play against Bailey later in the morning. Plummer hit him in stride after he cut down the sideline and he didn’t lose very much speed. I was very impressed with Watts today. I thought the Broncos reached when they selected him, but if he continues what he started today then the Broncos have a great one. Watts even made Lenny Walls hurt his ankle (requiring on the field treatment) when he put a double move on him that would make Allen Iverson proud. The real WR to impress me this afternoon was Triandos Luke. This guy looked great in drills, catching the ball away from his body, catching it in stride, and showing GREAT seperation speed. Watts wasn’t as electrifying but did make some nice grabs.Triandos Luke started out a little rough today. In the passing drills I saw him drop two easy passes. I was very disappointed in him until the 7 on 7 drills came around. He caught a sideline fade route where he out jumped the DB to go up and get the ball. It was a two handed grab that he plucked from over the back of the DB. He showed great hand strength, timing, and leaping ability on this play that drew cheers from the crowd. Then, after that play he made a great catch over the middle. Al “smoke dog” Wilson gave him a shoulder that would have knocked a normal man down. Luke spun off the hit and stayed on his feet, wowing the crowd again. They are calling Watts “Spiderman” and I can see why. His hands are proving to be outstanding and he shows a great ability to adjust to poorly thrown passes. Ashley Lelie did not practice today due to an injured/sore back. He hurt it yesterday and felt it was too sore to go today. He had an MRI done and no damage was revealed. He needs to take some pills for that case of ####itis. On the sidelines he looked intently as Darius Watts make a move on the #2 WR spot. There are rumblings around here that Watts could very well be the starting receiver opposite Rod Smith. Watts is showing great field presence and body control. He and Champ Bailey have been having a heated competition each day in training camp. Today, Watts got the best of Bailey-beating him both times he was lined up on the opposite side. The best play Watts made today was on a fade stop. The ball was a little underthrown and Watts came back and leapt forward while scooping up the catch on the sideline. Darius is also making life tough for other DB’s that try and defend him.

Senaca Wallace is another .. he was a great player maker in college . he is short for a QB . but he is the closest thing to m.vick .. at that position on another team he will start to be used in the A.Randel El form next year from what i read
It would be nice to see what Seneca could do as a receiver at the pro level.

I also like Derrick Hamilton of the Niners a lot. He was taken after Rashaun Woods but I read in more than one place that he may be the better WR. Think "Boom or Bust" with Hamilton. The guy has all the measurables and raw skills you would want in a wide receiver, but has a lot to learn about becoming an NFL WR. Sometimes guys like this become Terrell Owens. More often than not they end up like Michael Ricks. But the fact is for "end of the bench" guys you're looking for upside and Hamilton has it in spades.
Hamilton will turn out to be a better pro than Woods IMO.Rashaun Woods, WR- Woods doesn’t have ideal speed but more than makes up for it with his savvy play. He is a good route runner that can set up defenders well. He has decent size and uses his body well to shield off defenders and make the play. He is very natural in his pass catching ability. He wins most jump balls as he has impeccable timing and catches the ball at the highest point. Redraft Rating: 3Dynasty Rating: 6Derrick Hamilton, WR- He is a big playmaking receiver with good body control. He uses his hands well to beat press coverage and uses his superior footwork to get off the line. With his size he can become a dangerous red zone target because he has the height to win most jump balls. His size also allows him to run through arm tackles and get plenty of yards after the catch. Redraft Rating: 4Dynasty Rating: 8

I like Watts as well. I thought Denver reached when they took him, but he's looked good when I've seen him play. I recently took him at 11.06 in MOX IV after putting him relatively high on my players to target list.

with Lelie really coming on this year.. i think Watts will be stuck at the # 3 for awhile .. but . Watts really isnt that big of a sleeper though . he is rostered in every leageus i am in . even smaller leagues

I made a move in my dynasty league that has served me well over the years. I acquired Rod Smith who is still playing well on the cheap, as 30+ year old WRs are seriously devalued in dynasty leagues. (Try trading Jimmy Smith, Rod Smith or Keenan McCardell in a dynasty league and see what you get in return.) Then after acquiring Smith, I made a move for Watts so I have the position locked up. The only downside is that it burns two rosters spots. But I can play Smith until Watts retires and I was able to acquire both players cheaply: Smith because he doesn't have much time left and Watts because "Who knows when he'll be a starter?".Hamilton was out there on the waiver wire. He was drafted in our rookie draft, but cut during the season. I'll keep an eye on him over the summer with some chance I'll hold on to him if he has developed.

I really liked what I saw of Terrance Copper this season, but the WR on Dallas I am most curious about watching this off season is Patrick Crayton. He finally got a chance to play in the Washington game - and made the most of it. Also, anyone who thinks Greg Lewis from Philly won't be in the thick of things next year (#2 WR) might be dead wrong!

Zamir Cobb (steelers WR, undrafted from Temple) impressed me in what I saw of him this preseason. He went down with an ankle injury before the regualr season started but I think he would have made the team as WR5. I'm excited to see what he can do next year if he gets a shot.

Jerrico Cotcherry looks good, and looked great in camp. If Chrebet retires, and I don't think he will, Cotcherry will have many opportunities to shine. Johnathan Carter is probably on the outs. Though he has great speed, and was an excellent kick returner, he never really learned how to use his body over the middle, and the Jets don't see him developing into a 1 or a 2. Charles Lee, in Tampa, is another sleeper I like. He's big, fast, and dangerous, but not very consistent. TB has a logjam at WR, but I like lee's skills.

there was a time when the board actually would have been good for posts like this .. but in the last year seems like the sharks have left and a we are left with the "mass's" or the weekend warrior types.. wonder what happened
Dilution. If the thread is still going after the Superbowl (when I start my analyses for next year), I'll chime in. There's a kid (a wr) on the NYG I like.
jamaar is on my bench

(Try trading Jimmy Smith, Rod Smith or Keenan McCardell in a dynasty league and see what you get in return.)
Not to hijack, but this hit home with me, as I dealt all 3 WRs recently. I had plenty of veteran depth.Smith, Rod DEN WRSmith, Jimmy JAC WRMcCardell, Keenan SDC WRJohnson, Eric SFO TEEllis, Greg DAL DEStewart, Matt ATL LBJames, Tory CIN CBforJenkins, Michael ATL WR - Maybe not a sleeper, but I like his potential a LOTParker, Samie KCC WR - mentioned a couple times already, probably the deep threat in KC next yearFranks, Bubba GBP TE - FA...Zereoue, Amos OAK RB - probably benchedAmbrose, Ashley NOS CB - garbage1.102006 1st (probably late)I think this makes the point, these guys come cheap in dynasty leagues. Now back to your regularly scheduled thread.I made the deal for the 1.10, Jenkins and Parker, both WRs are guys I expect to turn it up in their 2nd year.

Maybe not real deep sleepers here, but a couple of guys who are entering that 'all-important' 3rd year for WRs: Bobby Wade, CHI and Shaun McDonald, STL.McDonald had some good playing time early in the season, and put up some good numbers (3 TDs in first 7 games), but he really dropped off late. I caught a couple of STL games late in the season, and it seemed like Kevin Curtis was coming on as a preferred target. Curtis is also entering year 3, but I think McDonald has better future prospects, as he's more versatile. Depending on what happens in the draft for CHI, Wade could be a guy that really benefits. This year, he suffered from a severe lack of offense, from both the QB and the other WRs, and Wade is not a guy that can create offense on his own. But, if the Bears draft a WR at the top of the 1st round, which many speculate they will, Wade has the makings of a VERY solid #2 WR. He's a solid possession receiver, who has good hands, and makes quick cuts. But he doesn't have the flashy deep speed to carry a team on his back. Opposite a Braylon Edwards, Wade could really blossom.

Qb-Quinn Grey - Jax . has looked good in NFL EUROPE . looked good the last 2 pre-seasons and was the # 3 all year in jax this yea r.. with garrard leaving . most likely . a nice sleeper if lefty gets hurt

Guys on my short list:Derrick Hamilton -- for many of the reasons mentioned in this thread, new WR coach Jerry Sullivan will help him develop.Greg Lewis -- very fast, entered NFL raw and has shown improvement every game, gets to learn from T.O., my bet for the #2 spot in 2005.Jamaar Taylor -- productive college WR, slightly fragile, will be 2 years removed from new ACL this season, very fast, good skills."Fast" Willie Parker -- not much playing time in college, but had some big games, decent vision, breakaway speed, seems to go down on initial contact, did I mention he's fast?Nate Jackson -- very raw, good physical skills, highly endorsed by Bill Walsh IIRC, made some clutch catches until injured.Kenny Watson -- most productive of the RBBC in WAS a couple years ago, could get a shot if Rudi isn't re-signed and Perry is injured.Frisman Jackson -- raw, used to QB I think?, has an opportunity with new regime and not much competition, and I like his name.Matt Schaub -- big, tall, strong, smart, reminds me of a young Peyton, but stuck behind Vick.Clarence Moore -- not sure if he's still a deep sleeper, but he's the big target and deep threat they need in BAL.

good list .. so far .. alot of names that we all know . and some names that i havent thought of .. i must disagree with Kenny Watson though .. but then again .. when we are digging this deep . who is disagree

Lots of good stuff here...one guy I'm kinda keeping an eye on is TE Bennie Joppru, Hou. Drafted #41 (2.09) overall in 2003 as the #2 TE off the boards and ahead of Witten and LJ Smith, Joppru has seen injuries ruin his first two NFL seasons, As with most of these guys, he'll probably never pan out, but if he can ever get healthy, he's got the skills to be an effective pass-catcher.link

ANALYSISPositives: Tight-skinned with a well-proportioned body … Ambidextrous (writes with his left hand, throws with his right) … Has above-average speed and foot quickness … Tight-hipped runner who shows power and balance in the open … Hard worker in all areas (weight room, practice, game) … Shows quickness in his release and knows how to get upfield while avoiding re-routes … Very effective route-runner who is good with delays to set up his routes and gets good depth in the flats while showing the strength to clear through the zone … Shows good concentration going up for the ball, with above-average hand/eye coordination when attempting to catch with a defender on him … Has rangy, soft hands, getting proper placement on the ball … Willing blocker at running back and shows force as a lead blocker in the short area … Will lead up on linebackers with aggression … Very smart and learns plays easily … Outgoing personality who always competes … Has the acceleration and speed to beat defenders deep … Uses savvy and sharp cuts in his routes … Quick in and out of his cuts, getting proper separation in his breaks due to his fluid and flexible athletic ability … Can short snap in an emergency.Negatives: Lack of size and brute strength makes him more suited for running back … Tough but not really physical, needing to get stronger in the weight room … His leg-drive power to beat the press could use improvement … Not used much as a seam threat … More effective as a seal-and-sustain blocker than one who can anchor and get movement at the point of attack … Works better as a blocker when coming off motion or as the lead … Frame may not have much more room for growth … Lacks the top-end speed needed to get consistent separation due to tightness in the hips … Has adequate leaping ability going up for the ball … Tends to go down after first contact.

Ah, this is what the above comment is about.

FWIW, I agree on Joppru as a deep sleeper at TE.

From one of my dynasty rosters, these guys I BELEIVE could be the real deal.QBsNavarre - great WRs, good o-line, AZ picks up a stud RB (not hard to do this year), and this guy will be top 20, if not top 15. Denny Green will make a pro out of him. Let's see if he is willingly to work hard & learn.RBsPayton - The kid has heart & determination combined with Fisher definitely being a mentor to him. If he does well in NFL Europe, I think he could see the NFL this year. Probably a couple years away, but he is an interesting prospect.Parker - Bettis will probably retire. Haynes is a UFA (correct me if I'm wrong). Does Staley stay healthy? Parker has the moves. He needs to improve but he has good teachers.Ward - The only backup RB signed behind Tiki. If he has a good pre-season, he might get some playing time in 05 and a shot in 06.WRsMoore - Somebody has to catch the rock for the Ravens. This guy looked good in 04. I think he is a worth a roster spot.TEsWilson - If he didn't break his leg, everyone would be talkin' about this guy. GET HIM NOW. He is a stud pass catching TE, even with Gonzo.(talk about having a great teacher!)

New Orleans: Nothing. Maybe someone gave up on Devery Henderson (WR)?
devery henderson is going to get a shot at the #3 WR. pathon will likely be a cap casualty for the saints. michael lewis is strictly special teams. henderson has a nice upside with that in mind.

RB-A.Echemandu - good college Rb .. had injury issues .. might be the # 2 next year if new mangement grows tired of W.GreenRb-J.Payton - name itself will get him a chance sooner or later Wr-D.Hamilton - the big guy out of the young San Fran wr .. didnt play at all this year .. very very raw .. but was a gamer in college just examples......Qb-Rod Rutherford - Panthers.. watch him .... in the next 2 years ..
All those guys are taken in my league. You're obviously not in a real dynasty league.

as a fellow saints follower.. ZACK HILTON - TE .. 6' 8 220 .. great hands ..
I heard this two years ago when they signed him. Is he starting to learn blocking, routes? What makes this the year to get him?

JW .. actually they are all taken in my leagues as well this post wasnt titled : " who is a free agent in leagues " .. its " deep sleepers " most real dynasty leagues .. all the deep deep deep sleepers with any upside are already rostered ... doesnt mean you cant trade for them . .keep them on your radar . and ect ..

I realize you're joking, but Rutherford isn't even on a roster in my large league - 800 players rostered, Rutherford is a FA.Is he actually taken in most leagues?

YES.. ACTUALLY ROD RUTHERFORD .. is very high on the panthers " lets develop him " list most of the rreally deep owners noticed this by 1 thing.. Rutherford spent the year on the PS .. and right before the last week of the season .. Carolina activated him and signed him to a : real contract ( 2 years ) .... if they didnt sign him to a real contract and activate him at the very end of the yea r. they risked losing him to another club .. or him being able to just "walk" to another club via free agency .. exatly like Denver did with M.Mauck .. they signed him the last week as well . because they knew that Saban would more than likely take him off of their PS squad.

I like Wilson quite a bit. The opinions seem to be split on him here in the Shark Pool. here's a clip about him I wrote in the preseason....... And finally we have another favorite of mine, Quincy Wilson [5-9 225 4.47] who was drafted by the Atlanta Falcons. He was the 33rd rated RB coming out of high school and is the son of former Bear great Otis Wilson. He has a rare power/quickness combination that puts his athleticism in an elite class. He is an aggressive runner that has outstanding leg drive to power through arm tackles or push the pile. His vision is top notch and he is a patient runner that knows how to time his burst through the hole. When past the first level he has the balance and agility to make defenders miss, and is always aware of the cutback lanes. Ball security is somewhat of an issue and the coaches will work with him to fix that right away.
If I were QW (im not, but a WVU grad ;) ) I would pray some team sends me to NFL Europe to show my stuff.
They only thing i can figure is Wilson is dumb as a post. Cus from what I saw on the field he has all the talent needed to play the game

You don't need to be a rocket scientist to be a starting NFL RB. Wilson simply isn't that talented.

Tick, earlier you asked about Utecht in Indy. He was one of the top TE in the country when he played at Minnesota. He was a big WR in high school before the Gophers beefed him up and moved him to TE. Doesn't have Shockey or Heap speed but runs okay for a TE, about 4.7 if my memory serves right, and great hands. Not a very physical blocker, but has good technique and a lot of experience (Gophers run as much or more than any team in college football). In all, he is very similar to Indy's #1 TE Clark.

So Indy's a mess - Utecht and DaClark for receiving TE, plus Hartsock for blocking TE (which usually means some goalline looks on deception plays). I wonder if they're going to be like the Raiders - three young TEs who destroy each other's fantasy value for as far as the eye can see.

Great thread. Most "my" guys have been mention, E Graham, J Geathers, J Taylor. 2 new ones: Omar Easy and Maurice Mann. Easy has looked pretty good in his minimal workload in KC. He's more of a fullback type, but he has enough speed and moves to be a straight RB. He may not climb over Johnson to replace Priest, but it's possible. Mann is overlooked a little at CIN because he isn't tall and isn't very fast. But he is a good tough WR with good hands who runs pretty good routes. With Housyourdaddy possibly on the way out there, I think he could be a pretty good compliment to CJ and Warrick and maybe replace Warrick eventually as a guy with less speed and moves, but better hands.

Senaca Wallace is another .. he was a great player maker in college . he is short for a QB . but he is the closest thing to m.vick .. at that position on another team

he will start to be used in the A.Randel El form next year from what i read
It would be nice to see what Seneca could do as a receiver at the pro level.
Seneca should be the #2 QB now that Dilfer has been traded and that is the position that he wants to play. Although I think he would do ok at receiver, he's not quite as athletic as Randel El and a better passer. His biggest problem is his height (5-11) but I think he could be an effective QB, especially learning from Holmgren and backing up Hasselbeck.

brandon jacobs. one part in this article gives me hope for him

He's a running back in a lineman's body. But in the case of Brandon Jacobs, that's not a bad thing.

The Southern Illinois product has been standing out in a crowd since he hit a growth spurt at age 14. Now 6 feet 4 and 267 pounds, he's ready to stand tall in the NFL.

''There are generally not a lot of real tall running backs,'' Titans General Manager Floyd Reese said. ''If you find a guy that size, your first thought is to move him to tight end or defensive end or offensive line.''

Jacobs said coaches have always tried to move him out of the backfield, but his speed makes him a serious weapon. He'll be the biggest running back selected in the NFL Draft next month.

''I've had no problems with being too tall or too big,'' Jacobs said. ''I get my shoulders down at a pretty decent level, and as far as being tall, I think it's an advantage because I think my stride is three or four times longer than anyone

else's. And when I get out into the open field, it's just the back of the jersey.''

Jacobs started off at Coffeyville Community College in Kansas, then earned a scholarship at Auburn and rushed for 446 yards, three touchdowns and a team-high 6.2 yards per carry in 2003.

But with running backs Ronnie Brown and Carnell ''Cadillac'' Williams already on campus, Jacobs didn't get the chance he wanted. Coaches even tried to move him around there, but they finally said ''you're just a running back, and there's nothing we can do,'' Jacobs said.

In 12 games for Southern Illinois last season, Jacobs averaged 6.6 yards per carry and scored 19 touchdowns.

After he ran the 40-yard dash in 4.56 seconds at the NFL Scouting Combine last month, most experts walked away thinking he'll be a first day selection.

Got one for ya. I've been hearing rumblings out of Atlanta saying that undrafted rookie RB TA Mclendon has been turning some heads. Guess he is being motivated by not being drafted. He does have talent but has been injury prone and ran a slow 40.

Dave Rayner, K, IndyVandy may be on the way out in '06 and Rayner may be first in line to take the K reins of a volatile offense. .

After reading the the thread on Harrington,It got me to thinking about the Lion's QB situation.I was able to get Dan Orlovsky in a couple of leagues this past week.I really like his skillset and the Lion's brass really like him too.Now he is more of a long-term project, but all he has is Harrington(Make or break year) and Garcia(Ancient) in front of him for PT.This kid could be Dynasty GOLD in a couple of years with the talent the Lions have at the skill positions......

Saw that Pro Forecast mag had Zach Hilton as the best TE in NO.....
:lmao: Someone dropped him today in Z34 - I hope he reads this.
I have him in my dynasty league ... but to buy into this he has to leap Conwell and Meier and they have to cut Boo ... any Saints homers think that is possible [edited to add -- likely]?
