Dynasty league owner activity (1 Viewer)

You know....if a dynasty league owner can't check in at least once a week during the off season, maybe you shouldn't even bother with joining. This is absolutely pathetic to me. We're talking about once a freakin' week people!

not all of use still live with our mommies
Fortunately, there's this new thing called e-mail. Get this... you don't actually have to be at your mom's house sitting at the computer. You can reply to offers from anywhere in the world. In about five seconds.

my point is people have lifes out side of FF. not all owners are FF junkies like us.

I'm 57 years old Einstein. Seriously, I'm talking once a week. Even if you have to take out the garbage every day, or even if you're bopping the next door neighbor 10 times a day. you'd think once a week wouldn't be an imposition.

If weekly off-season owner activity is required then shouldn't it be in the rules? Maybe it should be added?

The point being, dynasty is a year round obligation. If you can't check in once a week, stay in redrafts. It's not a rule thing, it's common courtesy. 60 secs per week is all I'm saying.

In the hyperactive leagues, it is in the rules, offseason every two weeks, in season every two days. Prompt replies to trade offers expected. Post when you'll be away otherwise. Works well.

Dragon - it sounds like you started drinking for the draft around noon. But, I agree (somewhat) with your gripe. I'm in one league where 3 or 4 owners have not logged on for over 2 months. Trade offers just hang and expire.

Sounds like I'm in your league. About half the league hasn't logged in over 2 weeks. No NFL draft chatter. Nothing.

Would love to boot them out. [They've paid no deposits. Owed nothing and aren't even the owners of the franchise w/o payment for 2010 IMO]

If you don't want to participate during the offseason, don't play in dynasty leagues. That's what redraft leagues are for. Checking in at least once a week isn't asking a lot at all.

There's nothing that gives more people ulcers than looking at the owner activity report on MFL and there's nothing that's more misleading.

As has been pointed out, you don't actually need to go to the site - you can get it all done through email. The site sends you news about your players through email, you discuss trades through email, etc.

Talk about getting riled up over nothing.

Who cares if a team doesn't log in? Don't check in for a couple months, as long as they're active during the draft and in-season, and respond to offers, they're decent owners.
Trade offers just hang and expire.
this is the issue. If they don't respond to emails consistently, I'd find a new owner. But not logging in just to see if someone possibly posted something shouldn't cause anyone heartburn. Also, the log history isn't always accurate. Just as an example, my "last visit" to my main league was according to the site "Last Visit: 37 days, 1 hour, 2 minutes ago", yet I'm one of the most active owners in the league and I've posted stuff in the last 24 hours.

If one decides to do it that way that's cool. But it's pretty obvious when someone isn't, without necessarily going by the activity report. Like when league polls and/or discussions and trade offers go ignored all off season. There is a lot going on this time of year and I just think it's common courtesy to respond to league activity and make an effort to participate, even if it's just checking once a week. I wouldn't say I got riled up over nothing. More like I got drunk and made an observation.

not responding to trade offers is a big issue. with MFL you can reject the offer from your email

I don't think activity in the offseason has any part in a definition of "dynasty" vs "redraft". The difference between a dynasty and a redraft league is how much of your roster you retain from one year to the next. There's no reason a dynasty league can't shut down transactions for awhile in the offseason and pick back up at some point after the draft or nearer to training camps. You'd still have the players on your roster kept which would still make it a dynasty. Active or not in the offseason is just a preference.
