Dynasty: NON-Draft eligible College prospects (1 Viewer)

I felt like the college WR landscape was pretty barren heading into this season, but we're four games deep now and names are starting to emerge. These guys all rank near the top of the class in deep catches (25+ yards) and all of them show potential from what I've seen in clips and highlights:

WR Corey Coleman, Baylor (2016)
WR Taywan Taylor, Western Kentucky (2016)
WR Will Fuller, Notre Dame (2016)
WR Courtland Sutton, SMU (2017)

WR JuJu Smith-Schuster, USC (2017)
WR Christian Kirk, A&M (2018)

Coleman looks like a Golden Tate/Victor Cruz type to me. Short, but strong and explosive. Hard to say how much of his production is just down to the Baylor system. That offense has been known to yield huge WR stats, though many of those guys are relevant in the NFL (Gordon, Wright, sort of T Williams).

I see Fuller as possibly turning into the prospect the Jets thought they were getting in Devin Smith. Not a bulky frame, but explosive.

Smith-Schuster looks huge this year and will be an interesting possession prospect. He is looking good.

Sutton is an interesting name to file away. Redshirt freshman. Huge frame at 6'4" 215. Actually leading the country in deep catches despite playing on a putrid SMU team. Could be an Alshon Jeffery type in the future. We'll see if he can sustain the numbers.

Kirk doing big things as a true freshman. Tested pretty well at the HS combines. Not sure I see him as elite NFL material, but it's early yet. He seems to be a Terry Glenn type of player.

I'd personally go with Chubb. Not sure Fournette is as agile or elusive. Great height-weight-speed specimen, but so is Chubb and I think his cuts are a bit better. Think he's just more athletic overall. Would say the same for Elliott. Open to the possibility of being wrong though. Certainly didn't expect DeMarco or Charles to be as successful as they've been. Elusiveness isn't everything.

Would say those three look like the top RB prospects at the moment. Pretty bullish on Chubb and Elliott. Average on Fournette. A bit down on Henry compared with where I'd expect most to rate him.

Dalvin Cook deserves to be mentioned in this group too; his cuts at full speed in this clip grabbed my attention.

 
Cook is having a strong season. Personally, I wouldn't put him up there with those others right now though.

 
Figured you did :) I don't see Terry Glenn in him. He's much stockier/put together than Glenn was. But good company, Glenn was pretty outstanding at Ohio St. I feel like Kirk has much better RAC/YAC ability though.

 
Bo Scarborough makes his debut Sat for Alabama. Reports from camp were that he looked very good. Not expecting a big load obviously with Henry and Drake, but there is talk of Drake catching more passes and BO keeping Henry as fresh as possible.

 
Kirks RAC/YAC is ridiculous, he has such good vision. Doesn't have breakaway speed, decent burst but he knows how to make up for it by being a smart runner.

I think everyone is overthinking Fournette, he doesn't have to do everything well, if the right team drafts him he'll flourish.

Royce Freeman - RB - Ducks

Per ESPN, Oregon sophomore RB Royce Freeman has forced 26 missed tackles while accumulating 3.75 yards after contact per carry.

Freeman ranks No. 4 in the FBS in the latter department. "Uneven play at the quarterback position will put more pressure on Freeman as Oregon gets into the meat of the Pac-12 schedule," wrote Steve Palazzolo. The 6-foot, 229-pound sophomore has converted 96 carries into 613 yards and seven touchdowns. He gets Washington State this weekend.

Christian McCaffrey - RB - Cardinal

Stanford sophomore RB Christian McCaffrey has posted three consecutive 115-yard-plus games and "given life to an offense that seemingly lacked an identity early in the season," according to NFL Media analyst Bucky Brooks.

McCaffrey converted 17 carries into 156 yards and a touchdown in Saturday's 55-17 win over Arizona. "The workmanlike effort sparked the Cardinal to a 55-17 win and opened the eyes of scouts searching for the next dynamic change-of-pace back in the college-football pipeline," Brooks wrote. "With McCaffrey showing impressive skills as a multi-purpose threat, NFL evaluators are paying close attention to how the young playmaker continues to develop on The Farm." The 6-foot, 197-pounder won't be draft eligible until after next season.

College Football Focus' Sam Monson writes that there's an argument to be made that Stanford sophomore Christian McCaffrey "has gone from gimmick player ... to the best player in the nation" in less than a year.

Best player in the nation? Sound crazy? The numbers don't think so. McCaffrey has 260 more all-purpose yards -- and about 43 yards extra per game -- than LSU's Leonard Fournette and leads the nation in that stat. To be fair, Fournette is no longer used as a returner while McCaffrey has 480 kick return yards and 22 punt return yards. Of course, there's real value to a player being one of the nation's most dangerous kick returners and McCaffrey is certainly that. We don't think there's any question that the 6-foot, 197-pound sophomore is the country's most versatile player. In addition to his running and returning, McCaffrey can catch balls out of the backfield, split out as a wide receiver or in the slot and take snaps as a Wildcat QB. As a runner, McCaffrey has outstanding vision, superb agility and averages 3.3 yards per carry after contact.

Stanford sophomore Christian McCaffrey is on pace to break Barry Sanders' all purpose yards records for a single season thanks to the RB's average of 253 all-purpose yards per game.

The Cardinal were determined to produce a 1,000 yard rusher this season, and McCaffrey is giving them more than they expected. Ed's son is already up to 844 rushing yards in six games to go along with 172 receiving yards. Stanford faces Washington next, a solid rushing defense.

Ohio State redshirt sophomore QB J.T. Barrett is completing 83.3 percent of his redzone passes.

This is Barrett's calling card and what gives him a clear advantage over Cardale Jones at the moment. Jones' percentage in this area of the field is around 33 percent. Urban Meyer has used Barrett as a redzone specialist, a tactic we like, but expect him to take it one step further and use Barrett as his full-time starter soon.

Ohio State head coach Urban Meyer announced he is switching starting QBs, from redshirt junior Cardale Jones to redshirt sophomore J.T. Barrett.

Barrett finally "earned it," as Meyer put it, thanks to his third down and red-zone production. The two quarterbacks had specific roles in the last few games, but Jones was not holding up his end of the deal due to poor play. Barrett is flat out more efficient than Jones, both as a passer and a runner. Jones opened up defenses last year with his big arm connecting with Devin Smith, but that vertical passing is not working this year. Neither is the intermediate passing or short areas. Do not expect a short leash for J.T. Barrett.

He is good, but the line is awesome. I think a lot of backs could thrive when they're blowing everyone off the ball all game (though McCaffrey makes plays on special teams too). I don't personally see McCaffrey as a great pro prospect. He has a pretty nice north-south burst, but IMO his quickness won't translate. It's functional in college, but I don't think he's going to make people miss in the NFL and he doesn't have freakish size or speed.

FSU sophomore RB Dalvin Cook is currently 12 yards away from breaking Warrick Dunn's school record for rushing yardage in a single season.

Cook's rushed for 1,231 yards, as compared to the 1,242 yards Dunn rushed for in 1995. In addition to Cook's strong yardage number, he's pacing the Power 5 crowd with 8.3 YPC and 15 runs of 20 or more yards. Sharp numbers all the way around. The 6-foot, 200-pound sophomore has gone over 150 yards in five of eight contests, including two efforts with more than 200 on the ground. He'll have his work cut out for him on Saturday when he faces a NC State team that's limiting opposing runners to 113.11 yards rushing on average.

Put him on the Broncos in 2017 and you have a RB1, check back in two years. Of course, the Browns will draft him and he will tear his ACL in the preseason and never be heard from again. Love this guy, hope he ends up in a situation that works out for him.

The next three years will have some really nice running backs eligible to hit the league. The freshman class this year with Guice, Barkley and Harris will be one to watch as well.

"Against North Carolina State, Hood showed evaluators his impressive running skills as a power runner in 200-yard performance (21 carries for 221 yards and two scores)," Brooks writes. The North Carolina prospect has been a bell cow for the Tarheels this season, rushing for 1,280 yards and 16 touchdowns on 192 carries this year. Brooks adds that Hood "is on the verge of becoming a household name."

What are the NFL thoughts on McCaffrey?

Has decent-enough size 6'0 - 200 plus a really advanced feel for the passing game.

Is Reggie Bush a fair comp? I know he won't go top-5 in the draft, but could he have the career the Bush has turned in?

 
Stronger, but not as fast as Bush. Not sure what to make of him really. Insane production and very versatile.

Not sure it will translate though.

Not sure really, but I think being white is going to hurt his stock. He looks like the real deal to me for a team that wants a versatile playmaker.
 
So as the bowls wind down, what's the overall devy big board look like for you guys heading into the 2016 year? How does an ACL tear for a guy like Chubb affect your evaluation of him compared to some of the other elite talents?

I think Chubb is the best prospect available (better than Fournette and JuJu), but the injury definitely adds some intrigue to the 1.01 pick.

This looks to be a pretty strong class with Chubb, Fournette, JuJu, Hood, Freeman, Perine, and a few good redshirt freshmen.

 
Keep an eye on Cal's Tre Watson (will be a true junior). Listed at 5'10", 195, reportedly runs a 4.4. Had some great runs this year as the fourth RB; will likely be Cal's lead back in 2016. Runs with power and balance, with some nice moves.
