Dynasty & Redraft: WR Vyncint Smith, Jets (1 Viewer)

The Athletic's Connor Hughes said to "look for [Jets WR Vyncint Smith] to have a larger role as the season goes on."

Hughes especially thinks Smith's role will increase when Sam Darnold is back to full health from mono. Smith has impressed the Jets' coaching staff and veteran players, including Demaryius Thomas, since signing with the team a few weeks ago. Smith will still struggle to find any fantasy value in re-draft, but, perhaps, something to monitor for the deepest of dynasty leagues.

Vyncint Smith caught 3-of-5 targets for 40 yards in the Jets' Week 15 loss to the Ravens.

Running as the Jets' No. 3 receiver in place of an injured Demaryius Thomas, Smith contributed a 30-plus yard grab for the second time in as many weeks. Still only 23, Smith might command a few more targets in Weeks 16 and 17 as the Jets take a look for 2020.

Jets WR Vyncint Smith ran with the first-string offense in practice Friday.

Denzel Mims (hamstring) has been absent the past week of camp, which has allowed Smith to compete for the team's No. 3 receiving role behind Jamison Crowder and Breshad Perriman. This is notable news for the latter as it's Smith and Mims who are clearly in competition to start in three-wide sets and not, as initially thought, Mims and Perriman. The 26-year-old free agent signing, who most recently flashed over the final month of the season in Tampa, remains a confident flier at his current 13th-round ADP as the WR57.

Jets WR Vyncint Smith is sidelined with a core muscle injury.

Smith had been running with the first-team offense with Denzel Mims (hamstring) out. It's another hit to an already thin depth chart. The Jets signed WR Chris Hogan as insurance.

NFL Network's Tom Pelissero reports Jets WR Vyncint Smith will undergo core muscle surgery.

He's expected to miss "5-8 weeks" after injuring himself during camp. Smith had been working in three-wide sets while rookie Denzel Mims (hamstring) was sidelined, but those reps will now fall to Jeff Smith and veteran Chris Hogan in the interim. Breshad Perriman and Chris Herndon remain winners in the short-term, likely sliding in as every-down players out of necessity.
