Chow has been quoted as stating White is the most misunderstood player in the 2006 draft. That sounds to me like a rather distinct disagreement with the assessment. How do you know whether or not Chow agrees with PFW's assessment? For all we know Chow agrees with them completely but thinks that White still has the talent to overcome the negatives. PFW did say that he had top 10 talent. But we all know that top 10 talent doesn't always get you to where you want to go.Anyone that has seen what happened with him over the last two months and doesn't believe that it has any bearing whatsoever is truly in fantasyland. It does not look like Norm Chow agrees with your assessment or maybe more directly PFW's. I'm sure White does not have Jerry Rice like work ethic, but something gives me the impression that if he had never torn his hammy and woked out like the pundits wanted him to. We would not even be having this dicusion.Well, I think it's clear that he did "get by" on his talent while at USC. He is very talented, no question about that. But even before the combine it was pretty much accepted that he didn't like to work out. The very first line in the PFW Draft Guide about his negatives is "Has a soft body and does not like to train and condition." Later it states "Not a great worker."The questions are (1) will his talent alone allow him to be as successful at the NFL level if he doesn't change his work ethic? or (2) will he be required to change his work habits to be successful in the NFL? And if it's the latter, will he actually change his work habits?Do you honestly believe that a guy could coast through on talent alone and have the kind of success that White has at USC and keep Reggie Bush off the field half the time? IMO, that is completly irrational. It's not just (or even mainly) the weight. It's the rumors of coasting on talent, the lackadaisical attitude over the last two months, the (supposedly bogus) drug test rumors, etc.

A hamstring tear on a guy who doesn't like to work out is a red flag. Especially one who carries so much wieght whether he's in shape on not.
