Hey guys, devising an auction strategy, and wanted some input from some FBG's who have done these before. I'm seasoned in standard leagues, and this is my first fantasy auction league. It's also a dynasty league. Have done some mocks on ESPN, and have come down to the following points as my "bible" for draft day next weekend.
League background: $200 auction, 10 team H2H points league. Keepers will be $50 of drafted value total for future seasons. Can keep as many up to $50 of their drafted value. Can keep for up to 2 years. Salary increases $5 from previous year until end of second season, when you must release said keeper. Waivers $100 auction style for season. Start 1 QB, 2 RB, 2 WR, 1 Flex RB/WR, TE, D/ST, K, 7 Bench spots. Standard ESPN scoring (non-PPR): http://sports.espn.go.com/fantasy/football/ffl/story?page=fflrulesstandardscoring
"Rules" I have set up for myself from doing about 5 mock drafts on ESPN so far are as follows (When I say FBG$'s, I am referring to the up to date auction price listed within the Draft Dominator app as of the update I pull down right before I draft):
- Take studs going below FBG $’s as draft progresses, who are guys that I already like, that my opponents are not driving up too high
- Propose extremely overvalued players I'm not necessarily targeting
o Take if value there, but not likely
- Make my own list of undervalued sleepers I want to zero in on
o Jump on them if proposed
Relative to FBG $ and value
o Save sleepers until others max out to maximize value to be proposed and jump all over
Well, from guys who have done this before, what do you all think? Am I missing something huge here, or keep practicing and this approach should hopefully land me a competitive team at the right price?
Thanks in advance.
