Pick your top 5
The order of this group is going to be heavily impacted by FA and the draft. I don't think anyone in this group is assured of their role, which is why they aren't ranked higher. But each has at least some path toward being the top back on their team or at least a major part of a RBBC, which gives them a shot at fantasy relevance.
I currently have the top 5 of this group as Prosise, Rawls, Ware, Bernard, Lewis.
The Seattle OL needs to improve for either of the Seattle guys to really emerge, but I like the upside in that offense and thus am more willing to roll the dice on the Seahawks situation than some of the others. Rawls has received 15+ carries in 9 games and had over 100 in 6 of those games (including 3 massive games of 160+ yards). Prosise couldn't stay healthy, but flashed big-time when he was out there. 5.7 YPC and 11 yards per target. Part of the ranking for these guys will come down to what moves SEA makes on the OL this offseason.
I don't really know what to make of Ware. He looked great early in the year and then faded badly down the stretch. We have a big sample size to tell us that Andy Reid's top RB will be a valuable commodity. I don't know if Ware is good enough to keep that role (need to read up more on what KC is going to do at RB), but if he does, he has more upside than most in this tier.
With Gio, all the reports of his ACL recovery are glowing and he's expected to come back just fine and be ready very early next season. Jeremy Hill has started to fall out of favor in Cincinnati and is also going into the last year of his contract. Gio's locked in long-term and I wouldn't be surprised to see him be asked to carry more of the load if Hill shows up in 2017 looking the same as 2016.
Lewis just looks so dynamic in that Pats offense and they haven't lost a single game that he's played in. He'd rank higher if James White wasn't such a good receiving back and the Pats game plan didn't change weekly.
