DYNASTY: You're outside the TOP 4 (Rookie Edition) (1 Viewer)

I’ve moved Penny to my #2 spot.

Tex
I wouldn't do that.  I would trade down first.  Much rather have Jones II or Love.  But if you're in love with the shiney Penny, a trade down is the best move.

What do you not like about Penny?

Tex
I didn't say I didn't like him.  I've seen more of Love and Jones II and I really like them.  If I liked Penny more I would trade down and hopefully still get him and some other pieces.

I see what you’re saying. I believe by the time Fantasy drafts roll around he’ll not only have a higher ADP but he will not be available if I trade down. If I’m wrong and that’s a possibility and I still feel like I can get him later then I will. I made that mistake last year thinking I could get Hunt later and he was picked one spot ahead of me so I regret passing on him thinking i’ll Snag him later in the round.

Landing spots will change our mind on some of these RBs.  This class is too good to zero in on one RB not named Barkley if it's a suspect landing spot.

IMHO, talent wise (I put more weight on talent vs landing spot) he’s the top back in this class for me. There’s a chance he’ll be picked before me at 1.3.

There isn't just one or three talented RBs in this class, so landing spot does matter.

If Harris really does stay that really takes a lot of luster off #3 and I probably trade down looking to grab Kerryon Johnson or Penny

It very well may but not in every situation so I don’t totally rule out landing spot. My first few picks it’s based solely on talent. If I have two or more rated about the same then I’m looking at landing spot. So I get it just not for every player in every situation.

That’s my concern, I’m not sure Penny will last. Kerryon maybe there in the 2nd round so he’ll probably be around.

Most years I agree with you.  This isn't one of those years.

I know, I know... That's his "claim" rite now... Faulk did it.

I like Penny. a lot. just cant put him in my top4 right now... right spot and a solid combine could change that
I agree with you, I just couldn't stop myself from saying it.

Can't say I'm a Penny lover.  Don't know how he'll test but feel like his production, size and vision check out good but he seems kind of stiff and upright to me and I don't like how he finishes runs.  I got him in my top 10 RB's right now but not top 5.

Who is everyone targeting at the end of round 1 in rookie drafts? At this point, I'd rather trade my picks for proven talent if I can get it. Maybe I'm wrong.

Depends on the landing spots. I also prefer to keep my picks in leagues where proven talent can be round on the WW.  In leagues where that is not the case (super deep benches), then I think trading for proven talent makes sense if you have a team in win now mode. I also dismantle teams that I don't think can win quicker than most because I want to make sure I get value for my aging vets.  Sometimes that backfires but usually it all works out and I like getting younger especially at RB when I can.  This year there are many RBs who if they land inthe right spots could be more valuable than other more talented RBs who land in less favorable spots. Hence I'm hanging onto my late picks in 2018 and I have 1.06, 1.09, 1.10 and 1.12

What RBs are you targeting at the end of round 1? In the league I have 2 late 1sts, I need some RB depth. If Fournette or Ingram go down, I'm SOL.

This is a nice deep draft. Rb has 7 really nice players....barkley guice michel rjones chubb penny kjohnson. At wr ridley sutton jwashington kirk amiller...thats 12 solid players right there not counting a deep qb class plus mark andrews and goedert at te....early 2nds look real nice to me

Tier 1

Barkley

Tier 2

Guice

Tier 3 (not in order)

Sony Mitchell

Rasheed Penny

Josh Adams

Nick Chubb

Ron Jones

Mark Walton

Bo Scarborough

John Kelly

Akrum Walley

I’m still researching everyone so I can’t barrow down tier three just yet

Freeman is overlooked. If he falls to the late first he’ll be the one to grab IMHO.

I plan to grab both Mark and Dallas at the 1.10/2.1 turn to fill out my TE spots.

Tex

You must have a lot of picks or not many needs to take two TEs that early. I like both guys by the way, especially Goedert.
Both, I’m well stacked and this is a TE premium league we carry 5 TEs I have Kelce, Engram and Walker so I need to fill the other two spots.

Tex

in non-TE premiums those guys are probably mid to late 2nds/ depending upon landing spots.
I’d probably agree with this. I faced the owner of Gronkowski and Ertz, having solid young TEs is huge. My TEs outscored the RBs and WRs, I started Zeke, Kamara, Cook and Gurley for most of the season. My WRs are OBJ, Julio, Hopkins, K. Allen, Cooks and JuJu to put things in proper perspective.......granted Zeke missed 6 games and OBJ got hurt later but these were my starters and the Kelce, Walker and Engram outscored them by a WIDE margin.

Tex

I consider TE premium in PPR leagues if the TE scores more points per reception than WRs and RBs.  Otherwise I'd rather have the WRs or RBs.
Agreed the final four teams in this Dynasty league all had at least two top 15 TEs. The Championship was Gronkowski/Ertz vs Kelce/Walker with Walker being older and new coaching staff for the Titans there’s some uncertainty. I have Kelce and Engram but I need more depth for bye weeks and in case of injuries. With all the picks I have this year I’m drafting to fill these spots. I’m already high on Dallas and Mark so it’s just icing on the cake “IF” they fall to me. The other options is try to trade some picks for some proven TEs but those owners are not going to trade with me lol.

Tex

We start 2, PPR for TEs so they have more value.

I think he's trying to say that - TE's are PPR so have more value than other positions that aren't - although he didn't specify how much premium or what other positions do score.

Typically TE premium means TEs get 1.5ppr while WRs/RB get 1.0ppr.

However in his case it sounds like he might have been saying in his league TEs get 1ppr while WRs/RBs get no points for receptions.  That would be a huge difference.  For instance it would make Kelce's 83-1038-8 the same number of points as a WR that had 83-1868-8.

If you’re rocking teams like this, I’m going to start listening to Tex.

TE Premium is any system where TE get more than others.  I am in.5/.75/1.25, or .5/.5/1.0, and .5/.75/1.0.  .5 extra is pretty significant and a full PPR premium would be crazy important.

This correct, TEs are the only ones getting points for receptions and they get 1pt per rec.

The team voted this change right before the draft then I watched as David went off the board at 1.5 pick, OJ at 1.6 then I gladly took Engram at 1.8 who was the #1 TE on my board before the draft.
