Eagles Wednesday injury report, RB Westbrook and TE Smith sit

The Eagles return to work Wednesday without cornerbacks Lito Sheppard and Roderick Hood and minus versatile running back Brian Westbrook. Tight ends L.J. Smith and Mike Bartrum will also sit out practice.

Head coach Andy Reid detailed the injury report in his Wednesday press conference. He also announced that with Jevon Kearse sidelined for the season, Trent Cole will move into the starting lineup this week against the Niners. Actually, Darren Howard will move over to the left side and Cole will slide into the right defensive end spot, from which he's collected our sacks through two games.

Pity he didn't get specific with L.J's and Westbrook's injuries. Anybody have any insight into Westbrook's injury? What is causing the swelling?

And this means? Given that Westbrook sat out Thursday to Saturday last week and played pretty darn well. How serious is the LJ injury and does that mean Schobel will catch some passes or will they go to the Wrs?

L.J. Smith-TE- Eagles Sep. 18 - 12:29 pm et

Eagles TE L.J. Smith suffered an AC sprain in his knee during Sunday's loss.

He finished the game, so it's probably not a serious injury. Smith always seems to be playing through a minor ailment.

Maybe this will be a Steve McNair / Tom Brady thing.

Everyweek Westbrook is on the injury report and every week he plays the whole game.
