Earliest You Will Consider Matt Ryan (1 Viewer)

Only through Week 3, but it is nice when it appears all systems are a go for a player in August and then he delivers.

FTR, he went 1.12 in my $$ league (6pt tds, PPR) that drafted this week.
This Matt Ryan hype is reaching ludicrous speed. 1st round??? Crazy
I like Ryan a lot but that is berserk.
not at all... if you think of it this way....there is no way he makes it back to 3.12....especially if at 1.12 he was say the 4th, 5th, or 6th QB off the board....and you wanted into that "tier" that people are thinking he makes the jump into...
I thought hard about it before picking him up at 2.02 in a 10 teamer--and this was exactly my reasoning. Stafford and Newton had gone #4-5 over the turn and I didn't want to miss out. Glad I did--but after then picking up RG3 some rounds later as a backup it's turned into a real QBBC with both at the top of the league scoring. FTR--This is a 6 point league with bonuses for longer TD's up to 12. QB's score heavy. In my 4-point league though they are both also at the top.

No crow from me. I said Ryan was going too high and to wait for Eli. That's working out even better.
Eli has been a liability for two out of his three games, while Ryan has had three good/great games. Ryan scored more points in week 1 than Eli did in week 2.As of today, Matt Ryan has provided significantly more value than Eli (and every other QB aside from RG3). We'll see how it goes for the rest of the season.
Roethlisberger and Fitzpatrick have also returned more value than Ryan, presuming you got Ryan very high close to opening day. He's looking good, though.

ummm no they have not.

Big Ben is about 1.5 PPG behind Ryan regardless of what scoring you use, and he was about the 12th-14th QB off most boards, whereas Ryan was coming off QB6 by the last week before the season. Fitzpatrick is kind of a different example; he, Dalton, Luck, and Flacco are all part of a group of QBs who could have been taken much, much later than Ryan, and have paid off big as late-round QBs.The point is: Matt Ryan was a really good pick this year. He was not, however, better "value" than RGIII or Roethlisberger--so far--and it's debatable with a lot of the later round QBs depending on how much you would have had to invest to get Ryan.

Another thing to consider is that neither B. Roeth or Fitzpatrick have been started in any of the 10 team leagues I'm in. They haven't actually provided ANY value in those leagues. I assume that will change soon and we'll see if they can continue to put up QB1 numbers.I was talking off the top of my head when I "any QB aside from RG3" as I was trying to making a point about Eli. Moving forward, I'm very comfortable in every league I have Matt Ryan. I would not be as comfortable relying on B Roeth or Fitzpatrick, even if I had used my 5th round pick on another RB or WR. Given what we know today, RG3 is the only QB I would rather have drafted than Ryan.
